How do you equate kids eduction = free daycare?? If you are expecting parents to forever homeschool their children, then there is no need for teachers. Not every parent went to post secondary to acquire skills for teaching.
-
What I would like to see (after this is over) is for every Canadian airport to have sanitizing mist spray that all passengers go through to decontaminate and sensors in secondary to screen for sick people. Maybe just for pandemic discoveries instead of every day use.

Schools won't reopen before September. My kids school are already planning days that students (one at a time) can visit to pick up their belongings.

It might come to the point where the elderly are confined to their homes (for their protection) while the rest of the population resumes work and restart the economy. There is no way that Government can afford to have people stay at home until a vaccine is found (possibly up to a year).
-
They should identify these yahoos and deny them any medical aid if they contract Coronavirus. I get people are getting cabin fever and unemployment is sky high. The trade off for a back to work mentality/directive will mean a lot of preventable deaths (especially the elderly). But what do you expect from country that values guns over lives. /end rant.

It's the new Trump Math. Lol.

I hope after this crisis, the Federal and Provincial governments can come up with a National strategy for the next pandemic. Learn from mistakes. Learn best practices used here and from other countries.

Trump completes reversal, telling govs 'you are going to call your own shots' and distributes new guidelines https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/04/16/politics/donald-trump-reopening-guidelines-coronavirus/index.html 3 phase approach to opening up the economy.

Trump doesn't get to dictate who gets into Canada. Unless he's thinks USA already conquered Canada.

Duh...it's true cuz that's how I read it too!!! BTW...the Earth is flat and the sun revolves around the Earth.

Apparently in the opinion piece it's also taboo to have an easter egg hunt outside. Most likely in the front or backyard. It's the backyard for heaven sake!!!
-
Just googled it. It is an opinion piece by Lilley in the Toronto Sun. I will say this. If my wife and kids are holed up in a cottage, damn right I would go see them.
-
Link please. Also, it sounds like he was with his immediate family (wife and kids). No mention of grandparents, cousins, neighbors, etc. As far as I know, immediate family is OK. He went to see his family.

Well that's one way to fix stupid. Kill them off. Maybe that's a bit harsh.
-
Would it be bad to wish them to get infected with Covid-19?? Sometimes, people really need first hand experience to see the dangers.
-
Pretty sure all Governments could have reacted better than they have. Some did a good job while others did not. Hint...USA did not do a good job.

You have to literally be naive to believe China government would be forthcoming with any Intel. They are no better than Putin and his regime. The fact they lockdown Wuhan should have sent red flags. But please do go on and tell us the Virtues of Trump.

I agree. Schools are important for young children to adulthood. It serves the groundwork and/or supplements good societal norms (ie good behavior) and interactions amongst peers. You can't get all that from home.
-
So how can it work work for an entire school year??? That's why I said in an earlier post, that schools would reopen in September (at least in some way).
-
Right. So how can school be still closed even till next semester (September)?? I can't see it not opening unless there is a fundamental shift in the current way of life.
-
If a parent needs to stay home with their young children, then I can see a reduction in the number of teachers required. And layoffs of school staff (ie maintenance, etc). Perhaps even permanent closures of some schools. Perhaps even home schooling will be a thing. I mean, if this distance learning works...then why would there be a need to return back to the way it was before? The Provinces will save loads of money. And cities can repurpose the school lands for more housing.
-
Lol. I feel for you.
-
Is that communism or socialism?? Lol.

I believe most families are dual income in order to just pay for things. I can't even imagine a single income family working. Unless society goes back to living with parents/grandparents/etc. Kids not going to school will require at least a guardian to be at home for young children. Not all families will have the opportunity to work from home. Man...it'll be a mess.
