With no immediate vaccines available, the probable best case scenario is pockets of infections and recovery (herd immunity??). That should provide those who recovered immunity for 3yrs. It's clear that this will spread to all. We are just prolonging it to not collapse the healthcare system. If Trump opens the economy by Easter, the US will be in a world of hurt. Their healthcare will collapse with the rate of infected skyrocketing.

Good news!! My wife co-worker who has Covid-19 (on the road to recovery) most likely did not infect the office since no other staff exhibit symptoms. Bad news!!! Not enough testing kits (limited supply). BC testing only healthcare workers and acute cases. So likely higher infection rates than what is reported. But self isolation seems to be working at limiting hospital visits (so hospital staff can focus on more serious acute cases of Covid-19).

Day 1 - workout Day 2 - wasted Day 3 - rest Day 4 - workout Day 5 - wasted Day 6 - wasted Day 7 - rest Seems balanced to me.

The co-worker did not have a high temperature but rather the chills.

My wife co-worker was diagnosed confirmed Covid-19. She was feeling ill on March 12th with the runs. Went home afterward and saw her doctor. Initially the doctor said she was just sick. She insisted to take the test. She didn't have difficulty breathing but felt her chest was "off". Got swabbed. And 10 days later doctor confirmed she had it but is most likely in recovery stage now. So bear in mind, it took up to 10 days for the test results.

That 0.1% is due to people getting flu shots every year. A better comparison would be using the % of countries that don't get flu shots.
-
Being in good health doesn't mean you can't catch the virus. Just means that it is less likely that it would be fatal.

I'm not a doctor. Just passing along info that was told to me. If you show symptoms, self-isolate for 14 days. If you have symptoms and breathing difficulties, get tested. The health care system will get overloaded if everyone with a cold/common flu goes to the hospital. The hospitals need those beds for critically ill patients. And there's only so much hospital staff can do as well. Can't expect them to work overtime and ignore their own health.

The general consensus (from my sisters-in-laws which work at the hospitals) is that if you do not have difficulty breathing then you do not have Covid-19. So I guess that's good news for my sister and her family (crossed fingers that it's just regular cold/flu). They will not test unless you have flu like symptoms and difficulty breathing.
-
Well I guess my sister family got really bad luck as all 6 of them have symptoms.
-
I don't know for sure since they are not eligible to get tested since they do not have breathing difficulties. They have taken their flu shots. So unless the flu has mutated, then they most likely have Covid-19.

I'm not too worried. They are healthy. Sister and husband in their 50's. Kids are 10 to 25 yr range. They have flu like symptoms. Can't get tested as they don't have breathing difficulties. Best thing I can do for them is buy groceries and stuff when needed.

Found out my sister and her family most likely have Covid-19. They are on 14 day self isolation. She came in contact with a sick caregiver (I presume an elderly grandparent) in the last day of school before spring break. The caregiver touched my sister's arm. Can't understand why sick people go out when they should be staying home. I remember a co-worker gave me **** for coming in sick. He said "Why are you here?" and he'd kill me if I got him sick. Smh

It's called Flattening the Curve. Basically the same amount of people get sick but over a longer period of time. Thus the really sick ones can get better care in ICU. Otherwise, it's the same amount of people getting sick in a short period of time thereby overloading the health system resulting in more deaths. Look it up.

Silly me thinking this is a Podkolzin thread.

My favorite character on GoT. His acting was what got me through the first season. His lines was phenomenal.

It's still a gate driven league. Playoff revenue the owner keeps and not shared with the league. I doubt FA would not want his fair share of $$ from a few games played at Rogers Arena. EDIT: Just realized you said empty stadium. I don't think they will resume hockey if played in front of empty stadium. Hockey will most likely resume once fans can be in attendance.

Some ideas put forth by SN650 with Brian Burke (I think)... A few more games to get at all teams at same games played (72 or 74 gp). expanded playoff teams to include more teams on the bubble of the wild card spots (ie. 24 teams in the playoffs). shortened rounds (best of 3 or 5....probably best of 7 for finals). back to back games to reduce travel

With "self-quarantine" being the new catch phrase, I imagine that once this pandemic passes, all levels of Government and majority of private sectors will seriously look at the option of telework (work from home). By outfitting personnel with the ability to work from home (for some office type jobs), work can still get done, roads will be less congested (took me 15 min less time to get to work as roads were not bumper to bumper), transit will be probably not be overcrowded as much (may now be an option for some), and reduce carbon footprint.

I'm hearing that BC will follow Ontario lead on this one.

Gotta think that Feds will provide some relief. But it's not gonna be enough. My co-worker (former Edmontonian) says AB will probably put in place a small PST. Russia and Saudi Arabia control the oil. They can bankrupt US oil patches and AB with a prolonged oil price war.

I don't recall the world being in a panic when SARS or H1N1 occurred. Is it because Covid-19 easily transmitted compared to the other viruses?

NHL projects $84M-$88M salary cap for next season

Temper expectations of a higher Salary Cap. Some cities have banned event gatherings (ie. San Jose) in midst of the virus outbreaks. -

I'm pretty sure he's exempt.
