I have BB slotted in with Petey and Miller.
So whos the other top 6 RW to play with Bo and Pearson???
Toffoli fits the bill to a tee.
He can score and is defensively aware (like LE).
Virtanen looks good but he hasn't played with Bo for any long period of time.
Green likes to slot him with Guadette and Roussel (which is a good third line).
It's called scoring depth and hopefully the final winger for Bo. Previously thought to be Miller but he gelled so well with Petey. Ferland hasn't play significant games with Canucks so he's out. Brock and Virtanen can fill the roles, but we haven't seen them play an extended time with Bo. LE has worked but not a long term solution. I think Toffoli will fit the bill as he's supposedly a 2 way player that plays PP and PK.
Lind and Podz are progressing well but you can't pencil them in until they get here.
Look at his stats, Toffoli ranges between 30-60pts. Averages to be about 40pts per season. Currently makes $4.6M.
Probably $5.0 - $5.5M per season for 3-4yrs to get him resigned.
BB is a top 6 winger. A draft pick is not going to help now or next year where the mandate is to make the playoffs.
If anything, a top 4 D is what BB would fetch.
I like this trade.
We gave a seldom used roster player, a top prospect that we didn't have room for and a draft pick plus a low conditional draft pick (if he re-signs).
To be fair, I also edit my posts for grammatical and spelling errors. Stupid autocorrect. It happened to me a couple of times where I post, edit, someone quoted my original post, then I saved my edited post.
So it does happen.
I dunno.
Demko did not have a Vezina calibre play tonight. Kinda risky betting the future of the franchise on a back up with just his first full season in the NHL.
I'd take that deal!!!
Madden looks great but at this point, still a rookie. Don't really know if he can translate that to the NHL. We get cap relief with LE off the books. And if Simmonds doesn't work out, then in his contract is also off the books.
I was listening to Rick Nash on the radio today. He retired as well from his concussion issues. He was thinking of his life with his wife and young children.
I heard Ferland also has a young family. Hope he does the right thing and retires (after LTIR...I'm guessing).
Like you said, it's hard to diagnose.
Pretty sure the doctors have to clear him and also Ferland has a say as well.
You can't blame management for going with the advice of the doctors AND the player himself.
Sutter + Roussell + Demko
for
1st 2020 + Greiss (backup for this season) + Dobson and/or Wilde.
VAN gets back a 1st, shed cap space, and a D prospect.
Yes. Vancouver is better with Sutter but I think we can live without him and still make the playoffs.
PS: Hopefully LE does retire after his signing bonus next year.
