  1. Ray Whitney 2002-2003 (30yr) 81gp 76pts 2003-2004 (31yr) 67gp 43pts 2004-2005 (32yr) no stats (lockout) 2005-2006 (33yr) 63gp 55pts 2006-2007 (34yr) 81gp 83pts 2007-2008 (35yr) 66gp 61pts 2008-2009 (36yr) 82gp 77pts 2009-2010 (37yr) 80gp 58pts 2010-2011 (38yr) 75gp 57pts 2011-2012 (39yr) 82gp 77pts 2012-2013 (40yr) 32gp 29pts 2013-2014 (41yr) 69gp 32pts Solid numbers but not elite. So why should Canucks pay Elite prices for Miller? The highest Whitney ever got was $4.5M in 2012-2014. The other years were around the $3M aav.
  2. I mentioned in previous posts that JR/PA can’t accept a crap return. Must be a 1st, top prospect and young player (preferably a RHD). If he did accept a crap trade, then all the other GMs know they can push him around. Maybe slightly downgrade to a Tier B prospect. And to be fair…I haven’t seen anyone (mind you I haven’t delved deep lately in this thread) say “get anything”.
  3. I’m not opposed to keeping Miller. I am opposed to BIG money and long term when his production drops. Just like I didn’t like the Sedins last contract.
  4. You should try reading all the previous posts instead of cherry picking. I said PK on CHI. So clearly meant Patrick Kane.
  5. PK is a future hall of famer. He’s been a superstar since coming into the league. Miller is not quite in the same category. It is far more likely that Miller will experience a production drop just like all the other NHL players before him. I get you are defending Miller but try not to pump his tires too much.
  6. How is #3 not true? If he doesn’t re-sign with the Canucks, he’s a UFA and can walk away. Yes we get 1 more season with him. Didn’t think that needed explanation as everyone is quite aware he is still under contract with the Canucks.
  7. At age 29yrs. Not the same as age 33yrs. Where it was pointed out that most NHL players see a major drop off in point production around 34-35yr of age.
  8. I don’t have a problem re-signing Miller at the right price. In my previous post yesterday, I mentioned the middle ground. If the Canucks or Miller can’t come to an agreement, then I’d rather see Miller traded for assets. There 3 options. 1. Re-sign Miller (preferably at a good cap hit). 2. Trade Miller for assets. 3. Miller walks away as a UFA and Canucks get nothing in return.
  9. Lol. Kane got 92pts at 33yr playing on a crap CHI team. I think it’s safe to say he’ll still keep up his production for a few more years…especially if he’s traded to a contender.
  10. Nothing wrong age wise at his cap hit. If RNH production drops it’s not the end of the world as he is not the team top point getter. He is a scoring depth top 6 player. Paying Miller top dollar (no discount) would hurt Canucks more if his production falters. RNH at 5.125M = 50-60pts at 34yrs it may drop down to 30pts??? Miller at $9M(?) = 90pts?? at 34yrs it may drop down to 50pts?? The caveat to RNH contract is that he has a full NMC.
  11. Then like the Sedins, we can expect a major drop off when Miller hits age 34. They went from near ppg (80-ish pts) to 50pts for their last 3 seasons. However, it was argued that the team as a whole was bad, so I can acknowledge that there will be a decrease in production because of that. Not everyone can be Patrick Kane.
  12. The thing is that RNH wanted to stay with EDM and took a discount to stay. The contract he signed was $5.125M x 8yrs. His ppg the 3 season prior was 0.82. I remember the talks were he was going to get around $7M. That’s a steep discount to make the cap work for the team. So will Miller also take a near $2M aav discount to stay with the Canucks also??
  13. I can think of a few posters who will never accept Brock.
  14. I see middle ground as… $7M x 8yr = $56M $7.5M x 7yr = $52.5M $8M x 6yr = $48M Something along these lines.
  15. Sign Miller to Kadri like money. $7M x 8yrs. Lets go!!!!
  16. Nice. Maybe Miller will resign with the Canucks at $7M x 8yrs. Let’s go!!!!
  17. I’m sure ARI would gladly take them with a 1st + 2nd/prospect. ARI the dumping ground of bad contracts.
  18. Other than his CHI years (a bottom team), he seems somewhat decent. $1M x 2yrs. Cheap depth. Capfriendly says Canucks have 45/50 contracts. So there is a bit of room.
  19. Wasn’t the knock on NYI was that they couldn’t score? Hence they went to get Kadri and possibly more players to help them score?
  20. Maybe Lou thinks it’s better to spend on forwards instead on defence like TO??
  21. How the heck is NYI going to get Dobson and Romanov signed? NYI has to be trading some players out (Varlamov, Bailey)?
  22. The FBI raided somebody’s resort today…
  23. Miller (50%) for Carlo + Lysell + 1st But Canucks would then need to trade a winger out to get under the cap.
