  1. If the offer is something JR can’t refuse, then sure…trade Bo.
  2. Dubois signed his 1yr QO. He has 1yr left after that until he is UFA. He has made it clear he wants to test the market as a UFA. Also there are rumours that he wants to go to MTL. So why would you want to trade for Dubois if the indication is that he will not sign a long term extension?
  3. $7M If Canucks got him, they would have had the most expensive D corp.
  4. Could be why JR didn’t allow teams to talk (think it was about extensions at TDL) with Miller. If teams knew his asking price, the potential trade may fall apart.
  5. Probably inferring that the Canucks and Miller are “far apart” in contract negotiations as per JR.
  6. Trade with OTT Garland + Myers for Zub + Gambrell + 4th (2024). Canucks get cap space and serviceable C and RHD. OTT gets the better players.
  7. Not possible. Posters have been pumping Garlands tires that he’s good value and top 6 wingers capable of adding more goals if on PP1.
  8. QH is a good pick distributor. But he lacks the lethal shot at the point. He can get a shot through sometimes but nobody’s afraid to block it. OEL has the better shot. But if QH is on PP2, his point totals will go down for sure. Assuming Miller is traded… PP1 Pearson Boeser Horvat EP OEL PP2 Garland Kuz Mik Podz QH
  9. I’d do that deal. Miller most likely on his way out. Garland is expendable with the glut of wingers Canucks have at the moment. It clears cap space. Schenn on his last year on the contract. The 1st will hurt (must be top 10 protected).
  10. Yeah. Seems like Dobson is looking at $7M+ range at the very least. Possibly even $9M+ if he’s looking at what Nurse and Jones are making (both are $9M+).
  11. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/will-noah-dobson-domino-finally-fall-on-nhl-summer-trade-front
  12. Read in the Province that Dobson may still be in play. Miller for Dobson. Or slightly bigger trade… Miller + Rathbone for Dobson + Wahlstrom
  13. See. That’s the problem. What Miller is willing to accept and what the Canucks is willing to offer. If they can’t reach a middle ground, then it becomes the scenario I mentioned before. Make a trade (between now and TDL) or make a run for the playoffs and risk Miller walking as a UFA. Both those cases would be a setback as undoubtedly Canucks are losing the best player.
  14. Ouch. A bit too rich for me. Rumored Canucks wanted a 6yr term (think around $40M). That almost a $30M difference. A compromise would be in the $50-60M range.
  15. They just need to reach a compromise. $7M x 8yrs. Get it done.
  16. Return would have to be a young potential star (like Newhook, Schneider, Mercer) + 1st (probably in the mid-late 20 pick) and a young player (preferably in a position of need like C or D) on a good cap hit.
  17. I get it. I don’t want garbage return either. That’s probably why Miller hasn’t been traded yet.
  18. It’s called asset management. Canuck fans want Miller to be re-signed on a sensible deal. But so far, Canucks and Miller seem far apart. So then it becomes, keep Miller and try to work on a deal throughout the season with a chance he would walk away as a UFA? Or make a trade for youth, speed, cap space, etc to compliment the young core (something JR mentioned before).
  19. As long as Canucks have Ian Clark, I’m confident he can groom the next #1 goalie. His track record speaks for itself (Markstrom and Demko). Silvos seems to be the next.
