  1. I keep hearing Miller is not worth a #5 but Canucks were able to trade Schneider for #9 (and got Bo). Miller got 99pts last season. I think he’d get a #5/6 overall pick plus something else at the very least.
  2. But NJ won’t always have the 2nd overall pick.
  3. Miller (50% retained) + Meyers for Konecny + Lindblom + 1st 2022 (5th overall)
  4. I wonder if the Canucks fans want a minor retool to get back into the playoffs next year OR cut deep and make trades for youth and prospects for the next 3-4 years with hopes of building a true contender.
  5. I like your cap dump proposals. Hopefully Canucks can do something like that as well.
  6. Oh noes!!! COL can’t win the cup. Otherwise they won’t trade for Miller in the offseason.
  7. OEL has a NMC. He most likely will not waive.
  8. A hockey player is one concussion away from calling it a career. Chances are low but it’s still there (see Ferland, Poolman, Lindross, etc). Given his family situation, he may feel compelled to be the “bread winner”, in which case, guaranteed long term money is better than a quick cash grab. At least in my opinion. Really depends if Boeser is betting on himself.
  9. Same reason as Kotkaneimi didn’t sign his QO. He signed a long term deal.
  10. Receiving a QO just means the Canucks will retain his rights so he doesn’t walk as a UFA. Doesn’t necessarily mean Boeser is going to sign it. It allows the team and Boeser more time to work out a deal during the summer.
  11. Yup. Can’t blame him from wanting to make money. FA cancelled games last year cuz not enough butts in seats last year cuz of Covid-19. That’s enough to tell me he wants the team to generate profit on a yearly basis. Money now is better than money later.
  12. FA didn’t allow Linden and JB to go that route. Don’t think he’ll let JR/PA do that either. If anything, FA will approve any moves that can get Canucks back to the playoffs sooner rather than later. Cuz playoff revenues go directly into FA pockets.
  13. Under Bruce…the team is likely 3rd in the conference or in a wild card spot. Not likely be a powerhouse like TB and COL. If the goal is just to make the playoffs, then not much change is needed. If the goal is to be a perennial contender, then some tough decisions need to be made (think back to when COL traded Duchene).
  14. Miller (50% retained) + Dickinson for Schneider + Laf + Kratsov + 2nd 2022.
  15. Strome is UFA. He could walk anytime. Then it just be Lundqvist, Kratsov, 1st. Which is a bad return compared to the rumoured TDL deal.
  16. Maybe something like this… 1st 2022 (15th pick) + 4th 2023 (NYR pick) + Ferland for Crouse VAN gets a gritty top 6 forward and cap space (at least remove $3.5M from LTIR…unless we can trade Ferland elsewhere). ARI gets another 1st (mid 1st is better than a late 1st) in the upcoming draft. BUT would really suck not drafting in the 1st round 3 years in a row.
  17. If they are getting rid of the “country club atmosphere”, they might as well gut the team and do a full rebuild. Keep EP40, QH, Demko, and Podz. Trade everyone for prospects and picks. Weaponize cap space for more picks and prospects. Tank for 3 years and get high quality prospects to fill the rest of the core. Then make a push in year 4 by getting depth veterans (do not overpay). Do not trade trade picks and keep the flow of cheap ELC contracts coming in. That is what I wanted to happen when JB was hired.
