  1. I think you should research what qualifies as a rental lol. How is he a rental if we aren't making the playoffs? He has another year left on his contract too FYI so how is he a rental? They will be re-signing him most likley, lots of time.
  2. Holy moly! didn't see this coming....would have liked to see us hold on to the Islanders conditional 1st....but we did need a young RHD and Hronek is that. You don't get young RHD without giving up picks so it seems about right. On on the fence with this one right now, we really need high end picks. More moves coming, they will try and get more picks back....
  3. Do you know the odds of one of those picks turning into anywhere even close to resembling Pettersson?
  4. I don't see how they can be a favorite with that goaltending situation. Ekholm doesn't instantaneously make their blueline good either. I would bet on the Jets, Avs, Kraken, Golden Knights before I bet on the Oilers.
  5. 2019/2020 Tampa put him on waivers, after being a healthy scratch and playing in the AHL. He was essentially their 7th defenseman. They did offer him another contact (likely 2-way league min.) but chose to come to Van where he would actually be in the top 6. Tampa didn't dump him, but I wouldn't say they pursued him either. He only played 66 games in 2 seasons with them.
  6. Look at Tampa's Roster, they've literally built most their core in rounds after the 1st: Cirelli (3rd), Point (3rd), Kucherov (2nd), Palat (traded but he was 7th round), Colton (4th)
  7. Yeah my bad. I was confused with him being put on waivers several times before we got him..Anaheim and Tampa I believe. My point is, he was waiver fodder not long ago. Now he's 3rd round pick. Not so bad.
  8. People need to realize Schenns value to the Canucks is not = to his value to other teams or the rest of the league. There are more sellers than buyers, the supply is higher than demand. A 3rd for Schenn is great considering we claimed him off waivers not long ago. If you're underwhelmed by the return you're simply inflating his value because of sentiment. He's a bottom pairing depth dman on pretty much all the top playoff teams. With all the other players on the marker...a 3rd for Schenn is good return. For a fan base that gets so upset when we trade away picks it's ironic that we somehow don't like receiving them either.
  9. This is how I think people imagine Schenn "The third round pick costs us him".....HUH?
  10. There's more sellers than buyers, the buyers are squeezing the sellers because of this. Look at the return for Patty Kane and tell me you don't like this third lol
  11. We have a bad blueline Schenn is a 6th/bottom pairing DMAN on majority of NHL teams and definitely on playoff bound teams. Schenn's value to us is not = to his value to the rest of the league. Once you detach the sentimental value, he's a 33 year old, one dimensional dman who's very slow and was waiver fodder a couple years ago. He's a great leader 100% and plays with physical edge. Those are not especially rare in the league, We like to inflate players value when we want to be critical of managements moves, but there's nothing wrong with getting a 3rd for a player we claimed off waivers lol my goodness.
  12. Why? He was waiver fodder not long ago. Why keep him until the end of the season when we can get a 3rd round pick by trading him and then re-sign him in the summer? What's not to like about that.....it's either get a 3rd round pick or don't....why would you not? 3rd rounder is exactly what his value was. We were never getting more. His value hasn't been this high in YEARS, take advantage of it.
  13. And this team isn't noticeably worse without Horvat thus far. I loved Bo, but not much has changed without him.
  14. No Argument there, but if we can get a pick for Schenn then re-sign him while getting him to a team with playoff guarantee and resign him why wouldn't they? Seems pretty logical.
  15. So, getting a 3rd for a guy who was waiver fodder a couple years ago, then likely re-signing him in the summer isn't worth it? What does keeping him until he end of the year achieve?
  16. This guy was waiver fodder not long ago and people aren't happy about getting a 3rd for him lol okie doke. We want to rebuild the blueline - you gotta move guys out. Stillman, Schenn etc Oel and Myers would be first but let's be honest we can't move them until a buyout this summer. This is the highest Schenn's value has been in YEARS - they took advantage of it. They JR and PA want to get younger and faster, keeping Schenn or re-signing him does neither. Still a chance he re-signs in summer.
  17. Won't a third rounder technically be a prospect? Schenn was never bringing more than a 3rd. He's a good character guy, but he's 33 and quite slow. I love him as a leader, but we've blown his value up a bit.
