I'm personally really interested to see what happens to Bo's offensive production now that he's playing on a team and system that asks much more of him defensively and the standard is much higher. The Isles are an air tight team defensively... .I'm not so sure it will play to Bo's strengths but time will tell, I will bet money his pace drops quite a bit.

Two reliable backups? Goalie prospects on the way? Our backups are AHL goalies, and we have one goalie with promise in our system named Silovs who is anything but a lock to make the big club. This team has no replacements for Demko. I'm all for trading him if an amazing package is offered, but by no means is this franchise in good position to replace him anytime soon.

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

That's exactly it, people keep saying management "doubled down" on this roster - that's not really true without any context. They wanted to see how a full year under Bruce looked like and if that winning pace could carry over through this year. Even though they missed the post season, the teams play and the winning down the stretch was a positive change and shift. When Bruce took over last year and this teams winning % shot through the roof and we narrowly missed the playoffs, why would they then have blown it up in the offseason? Wouldn't' have made sense, they HAD to see what the team did this year to gauge if that was just a new coach bump or if that's how this team could play consistently. They know now, so now the changes will come. They needed to change direction. -
Thing is, neither did the Canucks....they gave him multiple long term offers but all were rejected. He could have been a Canuck for life, but he chose to leave. He chose money over being a Canuck...that's his right obviously but the narrative that Vancouver didn't want him or "wanted" to trade him is false.

I hear ya, there's obviously a lot of what if's but that works on both sides too. We're one year into the new regime, the previous had 7. The what if they do this what if they do that can also be pointed out here. The core is Benning's core, but the core has done nothing to date. They haven't won anything of note, besides a few bubble playoff games with a goalie playing out of his mind. I know that with a better surrounding cast they could probably do more, but Benning failed at that also. IMO the teams issue isn't talent, it's leadership and identity...which would make sense why paying your current captain huge long term money may not have been the right choice. I too am very suspicious of ownership still pulling the strings, this all seems awfully reminiscent of the previous playbook. I think this Horvat trade kicks things off in the right direction. Possibly having two picks in the top 15 this year is absolutely huge and they have to get it right. I will still give Allvin the benefit of the doubt as he inherited an incredibly tough situation to solve, and let's be honest hasn't had a lot of time to fix it. 1 year in the NHL management world isn't very much. Especially when part of the problem is bad, long term contracts they didn't sign. I don't see the Boeser contract as that big of a deal, it's not as unmovable as OEL and Myers.....more teams will/do want Boeser than those two. They chose Miller over Bo...time will tell if that was the right call....Bo could have been a Canuck for life but chose the money instead, and that's him and his familys right and business at the end of the day.

That's the thing though...If Beauvillier finds his game again then great, if not...re-sign him at a lower number or trade him next year/contract year. Either way he's a more useful player than Brock and costs $2m less so if he's a replacement for Brock then they did a good job actually. Beauvillier isn't as one dimensional as Brock.

Beauvillier is a much more useful and dynamic player than Brock. Also costs less = win. He's better defensively, kills penalties, much faster, harder on the puck. People need to get past point totals only. I'm not saying Beau is amazing, but he's more useful on this roster than Brock is. Brock will be traded so we'll essentially have a more useful player for $2m less. I don't see the issue with that. In fact, if they do plan on essentially swapping Brock for Beau it's a pretty keen move.

By no means do they see Beauvillier as a solution or centerpiece. He fits the mold of a young, highly drafted player that needs a change of scenery. He only has 1 year left on his deal too. They can either re-sign at a number they see fit next year or trade at next deadline. It's a low risk acquisition, I like personally because he's only 25 and he's a better player than his recent point totals suggest. People get really hung up on point totals only, I get it at $4m you'd like to see more but he does alot of things right.
