Better Poll: Are people jumping to strong, premature conclusions over an extremely small sample size of work? A - Yes B - Yes

I agree Makar definitely benefits from playing with someone as good as Toews, that's just stating the obvious. But to say Toews "elevates him to the stratosphere" is crazy. Which sounds a lot like Makar is only good because he plays with Toews...which obviously isn't true. Literally EVERYONE would take Makar over Bedard, every NHL GM and every NHL coach as well. What is your deal with hating Makar? lol really curious. Bedard has never played an NHL game, nor does anyone know what kind of NHL'r he will be. It's not even a debate which one people would rather have.

I think most fans did too, they looked at the second half Bruce-bump squad with Demko stealing games and said "this is the real team...this is definitely sustainable through next year" I mean, to expect this squad to have a top 3 winning percentage like they did down the second half stretch last year is essentially saying this is a top 3 or even top 5 team in this league. Let that sink in.

[Discussion] What is Brock Boeser worth?
Harold Drunken replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
All the talk around Boeser this off season was how his mind is finally clear and he's finally focused and healthy again since his dad (rest in peace) has passed. It made sense to re-sign him to another bridge deal for him to prove he's good goal scorer with an elite shot. It suck to watch, I remember his first couple years he looked like the future of franchise, all star, all star MVP with two back to back a 30G seasons. Ever since his back injury he has not been quite the same. Well, it has not translated at all. Not only does he have zero goals, he's not really in the play or around the net much. You don't hear his name many times a game.....that's a problem. As I've said many times on here, Brock isn't awesome defensively and doesn't kill penalties....so if he's not producing offensively...more importantly scoring he doesn't have a ton of value. Because of this, his trade value really isn't that high and any trade would be a salary dump at his point, maybe get a pick or two back. -
I've said it dozens of times, last year Demko hid a lot of this teams holes and mistakes. Down the stretch last year, he single handily won us a lot of those games. This is just the by product of not having a goalie carry the team anymore. In fact, it's the opposite the goalie is now hurting the team...to compound it the team is also playing very poorly in front of him and unable to kill penalties. It's a terrible mix that won't win hockey games. This is why I was never on the "this team is a playoff team train" because I saw with my own eyes a goalie, night in and night out that made us look better than we were. We need Demko to play great if we have a chance....sure you can say that about alot of teams but many teams are good enough to win with even just decent goaltending......we need great goaltending to compensate for our weaknesses. That right there tells you that this is a wildcard team at best....we are not ready to compete with the best.

You can be mad at JR for saying it.....but he's not wrong so I don't know what everyone is mad about. The same people would be on here complaining if he didn't say anything too I would bet. I would rather have a President that speaks up and tries to light a fire when the team is playing like garage. Don't be mad at the President, be mad at the players or be mad at ownership for not allowing a proper rebuild for a team that hasn't really been competitive since 2011 or ever had a proper rebuild because playoff revenue is more important that a championship caliber team. They are the one's underperforming and playing sloppy, terrible hockey. There are good players on that ice. The player's love Boudreau, he's a players coach....let's hold them accountable.....not blame a President who's been here less than a year.

No argument there, but it takes a whole team to achieve that. Miller himself won't get us there, unless the entire teams completely does a 180...it may happen yet.....but there's going to come a time, not unlike last year where the hole may be too deep to dig out of. We will see, all the other teams around us last year got hot too..which is why we missed the playoffs....again. Essentially, the only scenario where we need Miller is if we are going to make the playoffs and have a realistic shot of being a competitive team with the best....unless we are doing that there isn't much point in carrying his contract,. Especially when you have a blueline to rebuild which is by far this teams biggest hole. Yes, we are a better team with Miller, but it all depends if they think this team is ready to compete very soon vs. down the road. By what we are seeing on the ice, it's clear we aren't nearly as close as some thought.

Yeah, problem is this happened last year too and was the reason we missed the playoffs. Statistically, teams that are below .500 at the 20 game mark or 1/4 way through the season usually miss the playoffs unless they go on a tear. We can't expect or assume this team is going to do what it did in the second half last season. We need to let that go, it doesn't matter anymore this season is this season. We are not playing good enough hockey to dig out of a deep hole.

Yup, such an insanely small sample size for JR and PA's time here....they came on board halfway through last season, have had one off season and one draft together and people are somehow expecting a completely different franchise already. People are just being intellectually dishonest, they know damn well it takes longer than that.
