For sure, he never overreacts, nor is he ever overly dramatic either (wink)......... I vote for him to replace Dan Murphy, can you imagine how hilarious and uncomfortable those interviews would be? -

Can you elaborate and provide some context to when and where he said "defenseman don't matter". And what information you are using to refer to Yeo as a "scumbag"? Just curious that's all. -

Right....because Aquilini has never, and would never do anything to disgrace this franchise..................................... -
Totally agree, this franchise has never really done that...they've just always tried to stay competitive but I think it's proven that all that does is keep you in the middle of the pack and in a cycle of being a fringe playoff team. At a certain point ownership and or management is going to have to take a hard look at this core and this roster and make a decision based on its body of work the last few years. Other than the bubble year it's not been good...even then Demko went God mode for us.
-
So what's your solution, keep on doing the same thing we've been doing for the last decade but just with a GM you like better? The problem with this franchise is it's been trading away assets and picks for players to hopefully help this team squeak into the playoffs. Therefore sticking us in a perpetual cycle of mediocrity. Because this ownership seems to rest it's hopes on playoff revenue vs. actually seriously competing for a cup. If you're looking for someone to be mad at, be bad at ownership because they've been steering the ship. Say what you want about Myers, OEL and Poolman, but those guys make up 20% of our cap hit...that's not a small number. I know your a JB guy, but knocking down anyone who succeeds him won't achieve anything and isn't a solution. The solution? Tear it all down, Keep Pettersson, Demko and Hughes (arguably a couple others) and do it right...it's going to suck awhile though....at least we will see a team struggle who's gaining cap room, picks and assets vs. the opposite. Are JR and PA the ones to do it? Let's be honest, the sample size is SO small.....I think we can agree half a season and 1 off season simply isn't enough time to decide that. If so, then you're the best judge of hockey sense and smarts in the world and you're in the wrong business.

What what you like to see happen with this franchise, moving forward - regardless of the GM or President? Thinking big picture here.

100%, Trading away draft picks and assets are what contending teams do who are pushing for a long cup run. This team for the better part of the last decade has been doing that but in hopes if squeaking into a playoff spot or wildcard. Thus, leaving us in a never-ending circle of mediocrity with fewer draft picks than we should have and a thin prospect pool. That circle has to stop for things to change, and like it or not it's likely going to mean getting worse before we get better.

Last year, the average GPG was 3.14, the year before that was 2.94. Teams with winning records are usually just as prolific in keeping the puck out of their net rather than putting in the other teams. Of course, scoring more increases your odds, but scoring 4 goals per game doesn't mean much if you are letting in just as many..or in our case can't stop the other team from scoring at least 2 PPG per game lol. For instance, here are the top 5 teams from last year in goals against: Hurricanes Rangers Flames Bruins Penguins Oddly enough the Canucks were 7th last year

I never wanted them to re-sign Miller I 100% admit to that and was very open about wanting to trade him as I never saw us and still don't see us as a contender, should have traded him....people would just need to admit the on ice product wouldn't have been any better though. People seem to want to have this team get better and get rid our best players at the same time.....real life just doesn't necessarily work that way. I'm pretty sure we can admit the team wouldn't be better without our leading scorer from last year...but they also don't want to see the team take a step back lol it can't be both. PS never said the cap problem was all on JB, just the majority of it. He had 7 years, PA have had 1. JB contracts are what are holding this team back from being more aggressive and signing better players right now. - that's just a fact my dude. We can sit here and act like Boesers and Miller's contracts are the big anchor of this team, but that's completely untrue and a silly argument when you look at the money tied up in Myers and OEL among others. To sit there and say this team is handcuffed cap wise because of new management is such a dishonest statement lol.

100% they didn't do much with the D, but I'm willing to say they tried. When we already have one of the highest paid bluelines in the league...and 2 of the 3 biggest blueline contracts are essentially unmovable what do you do? If we signed more expensive dmen people would be complaining about that and how we already have so much money tied up back there..i...which is correct, we do lol. In fact we would probable have the highest paid blueline in the league if that happened. Myers and OEL are unmovable, and they cost $14.25 million - don't blame Allvin for that, And....how do you rebuild a blueline in one off season with several long term, un-wanted contracts and very little cap space to do so? You guys can't expect them to completely re-tool a blueline at the snap of their fingers. It's a little more difficult than that especially when good defenseman are at an absolute premium. You say we are in a better position than the JB days, yet people are complaining they haven't done enough or the right thing in 1/7 if the time. You can't have your cake and eat it too, we know damn well this stuff doesn't happen in 1 year or 1 off season...it takes years...bad contracts have to expire, draft picks have to happen, players need to be signed and shuffled and so on and so on @gurn It's like we are surprised they haven't achieved 3 years worth of work in 1/3 of the time, how dare they lol
-
You do understand they had to sign a bunch of players to fill out the bottom 6 right? Or should the bottom 6 somehow be filled with 6 and 7 million dollar a year players too? Miller's salary is an extension, which means his new contact number doesn't count towards this year, seeing as it projects for the next 7 other contract swill expire but then.....this is kinda how it works. Again, they could do alot more without numerous bad contracts they didn't sign.....
-
They extended JT and signed a bunch of lower salary guys to fill out our bottom 6,,,which makes complete sense really and shouldn't be a point of criticism lol. If you look at how they were able to sign Brock and Mik it's impressive they were able to do so with the cap space $hit sandwich they inherited. Doesn't counter the point that they only took over halfway through last season and people are comparing less than 1 years worth of work to 7 years worth. It makes no logical sense.
-
They can't which is why I cut them a little slack as they inherited a team up against the cap with multiple bad contracts. Very hard to make drastic changes with no cap room and big contacts nobody wants. People have to remember Benning had 7 years, JR and PA took over half way through last season lol, it's going to take a little more time for them to do what they want.
-
So let me get this straight, because PA and JR haven't completely fixed and reversed 7+ years of bad cap management, bad contracts, lack of prospect depth and picks in one off season they are the same or worse? They took over half way through last season and have had ONE off season to make some moves, I don't see how we can sit here and make bold statements so early in their tenure. They came here and the team had ZERO cap room and have somehow moved around enough for us to add some players....you have to realize it's not like they've had much flexibility to do anything drastic..... they also attracted the most sought after European free agent in Kuzmenko which so far looks like a huge win. You can't blame them for being handcuffed to the cap with bad contracts they didn't offer. It's going to take time, i for one will wait to see what they can do with some more money flexibility and less than 1 years sample size. It's a lot easier to wheel and deal if the contracts you have are sought after or you have money to spend. The argument that they are worse or the same after 1/7 of the time of JB doesn't hold any water or logic. You're not comparing apples to apples. Our fans can be so incredibly fickle, and statements and arguments like this make other fanbases laugh at us honestly.

(Proposal) Bo to Detroit for Seider

Yes, because it won't and everybody in the hockey world would agree with that notion. -

There should really be a vetting process and filter in the trade proposals thread....my goodness. How about Myers + Pearson for Kaprizov? Minny gets a towering d-man/giraffe and a player who's averaged 27 points a year with us!
