  1. I agree, he just needs to shoot more. He get's himself into good positions then seems to look for the pass right away. He has a great shot, I'm sure Bruce is telling him to let it rip.
  2. For some, $14.25 million between the two should get you a little better than "good" from time to time....and please we have to stop comparing absolutely everything that this team does to the second half last season. It's no longer relevant and the bump from a new coach is no longer a factor. How we played the second half of last season has nothing to so with this season.
  3. Not enough people blame ownership on here, I for one think ownership has held this franchise back for a long time.
  4. Ahh yes the glass if always half full isnt it. Talking about things other than how awesome the team is is very uncomfortable....I know.
  5. Sifting through all of that, I guess my question is based on the type of player Boeser is, and his style of game....if he's not scoring goals consistently (or making plays for sake of argument) where is his value at his cap number? As I said, I like Boeser but he's a goal scorer and needs to do that to make a difference. That's his game, he's a sniper with an elite shot....they are expected to score consistently. The hair comment was very obviously tongue in cheek....people do like his hair I'm not making that up lol
  6. Water down what we have vs. inflate and exaggerate what we have is really the same thing at the end of the day. We don't have any players at Makar's level, that's just a fact. You can do your best to knock a 24 year old, Norris trophy winning, Stanley Cup winning, Conn Smythe winning elite franchise point per game defenseman but I'll give you a hint.....you likely won't convince many lol. Hughes and EP are very good players, but not the same tier as Makar. You won't convince many that's true.
  7. Karen's = Fans who can look at things objectively while considering many factors, stats, cap hit and overall value and not automatically come to his aid because he's a nice guy and has pretty hair? Boeser is a goal scorer, he doesn't kill penalties or play particularly well defensively nor is he physical or outspoken.......If he's not scoring, he doesn't have a ton of value, that's the reality of it and his game. I like Boeser as much as anyone, but he's gotta put the puck in the net consistently to have any value at his cap hit.
  8. Any clear identity is better than the current "23 guys who play hockey" we've been rolling with for years now lol
  9. I think they are close, the fact that Bear is 7 years younger and less than a 1/3 of the price almost makes him better based on value and upside alone. You never know what Myers you're going to get night in a night out. Of course Bear has been basically off a couple years after a covid battle so there is unknown there...but's he's young and cheap.
  10. Alot people on here don't seem comprehend or understand what a rebuild entails. When you rebuild, you expect the team to struggle and not be very competitive but you're building towards that and should understand it's going to take a few years at least, When you watch the team struggle and they are spending up against the cap it's a completely different feeling lol. You don't expect it. So yes, I've had the stomach for it for about 5 years now lol. But's it's become clear ownership covets a "playoff appearance" and subsequent revenue higher than actually competing for a cup. Dollars is dollars I guess. I think they are now past the point of a full rebuild, you'll likely see more tweaking on the fly...and hoping we see different results than the last 8 years of "tweaking on the fly" has given us....which is mediocrity, no cap room, thin prospect pool and lack of picks. Fingers crossed.
  11. I've always been a huge fan of the Johnny Canuck logo, IMO it represents the organization better than the Orca, though a lot will disagree with that I'm sure. I feel like the Orca is dated and played out at this point. I've never been a fan of the Orca logo from day 1 to be honest.
  12. OEL once again showing no offensive prowess whatsoever. You would never know this guy was once a powerplay quarterback
  13. The odds that Myrenberg was going to see any NHL time or make the club was very, very low statistically. People on here acting that just because he was right handed he had some sort of inflated value. He was a 5th round pick, which means he has a 34% chance of playing one NHL game , and a 7.5% chance to play 100 NHL games. People place too much emphasis and value on picks outside the first two rounds, because statistically outside those rounds the success rate of becoming a regular NHL contributor drop off dramatically. Yes, Myrenberg was a RHD, and yes that's a position of need but you can't inflate a players value and future based on that alone. He doesn't have a better chance or batter odds to make the team because he's a RHD lol By the time he would be ready to compete for a spot this team would very likely have other RHD on the roster. This is a trade to do DiPietro a favor and move him somewhere where he'll get some playing time and we sweetened the deal with a low tier mid-late round pick defenseman. Not likely a franchise altering move.
