  1. I was around during Bure's years and his rookie season, and yes every time he touched the puck people would start leaning forward, no joke..his rookie year, there were 6000 people trying to get into training camp games. He was something. If this kid can bring that level of excitement, albeit in a different way, well we will be very lucky fans to have gone from Linden, to Bure, to Nazzy, to the twins, and "hopefully' EP and Boeser with the leadership of Bo.
  2. Toronto won't have the cap room. They have Matthews coming up, Nylander, Marner to take care of, unless they move one, which they could. I could see SJ making a big run at him, and given their competitiveness, if they sign Kane, it would guarantee he's on a cup contender for years. My bet is SJ or back to the Isles and don't count out the Rangers, they are right next door!
  3. I love the excitement of fans here but a few observations - EP is not Gretz or Mario! lol...I know you didn't mean it but he's not that level, but; - He is clearly a player who has the potential (key word potential) to be a game breaker. I think people do often have a hard time believing the Canucks have a player that has broken records of Peter Forsberg, the twins, Kent Nilsson, all who were unbelievable players. Sometimes, I think its Canucks fan's mentality to either get too high, or go the other way and say, well we don't get that lucky so he can't be that good. The point is, let's also let the kid develop and not panic if he doesn't come in and score 90 pts as a rookie, or is in the AHL etc. Clearly we have a gem, let's let the smart hockey minds we have ensure he's developed well enough to find his ceiling. Even if that takes some time, we will all be happy to watch a decade or more of his skill.
  4. They may “reward” him as a sign of the culture they want. Beiga is a perfect comp and he got two years and a very similar story, value add and contribution to the team. And green really likes him. Given his age I will be surprised if the Canucks don’t give him 2 years given the dues he’s paid to get to the NHL level. He’s a leader, tough (can take Dorset’s role), helps provide the “safe environment” for the kids and has shown he wants it over his years in the AHL. Who takes on Dorset’s role otherwise? No one
  5. Exactly, and maybe he just doesn't like dealing with media in english? He seemed to have that issue when here, and its not like anyone likes the vancouver hockey media either. Not to mention, he's under contract to a KHL team, probably doesn't want to be seen as not a team guy, is focused on the worlds, and probably (almost certainly) hasn't even decided with his family yet, which is why he left. In all reality, its a mature and wise thing to do to effectively say 'no comment' right now
  6. Annihalation 2 out of 10 - not sure what the hype was about - I love pretty much all genres of movies, especially Sci Fi and I thought it sucked big ones Conspiracy 10 out of 10 - Most will not have heard of this, Kenneth Branagh, about the meeting in Wannsee in 1942 with senior Nazis discussing the "Jewish Question" - frightening recreation of the evils of mankind and how sick humans can be. It is worth the watch as a film given them writing and acting, and most takes place in one room, so its almost like theater, but it also is a very important historical lesson that all should never forget, such that we as human beings never allow such a thing to ever happen again. 12 Strong - 4.5 out of 10 - Meh, boring and not even rah rah America Maze Runner Death Cure 4.5 out of 10 - Another Meh - first few were surprisingly interesting, this one rode coattails and was pointless. Was made for the sake of it not as a strong stand alone film. Just the same idea, no real plot, action was boring and no suspense.
  7. Bergeron's best seasons were his second and third with 73 and 70 pts, and since hasn't broken 70. Bo was prorated on pace for 60+ this year. If he can play like Bergeron, I'd say that's pretty fine number one no? And he has that ability. He's great in the circle, should be able to get 60+ consistently, and if he continues his stellar defensive play, maybe he'll be in the Selke talk one day too!
  8. And to those who think the twins didnt have value as 'mentors' - there it is.
  9. Indeed, and that seems to be the model JB is building, four lines you roll, and three that are almost interchangeable - this seems to be the new method in the NHL. Balance wins
  10. Karlson is a great offensive dman, he is not the same class as Doughty defensively. Yes I’d take a big, physical, better dman who gets 50-60 points over a more primarily offensive dman. This is not to suggest karlson is not world class, just that I like all around dmen better and feel Doughtys overall value to a team is higher because of his shut down ability combined with his offensive skills.
  11. You re-sign Archie for 2 years one way as he's earned it over years in Utica. That takes him to 29, then you bring in MacEwen at 23 years old after a few years in the minors where he's hopefully built on this year, learned to play an even better 2 way game, etc...Nothing wrong with that And if Archie still has his legs, he's a solid depth guy to have around like Biega, especially come playoff time.
  12. I hope its botchford he goes off on, or pratt, or both
  13. Yes, but who's the next whipping boy for canucks fans? Juolevi?
  14. He's douchey because he's got an edge/swagger and he knows he can dominate other players- we could use some of that our team...
  15. Agreed. My preference would be for Doughty though. He has won 2 cups, is one of the best if not the best all around dman in the game, he would be a terrific tutor for all the young dmen we have. I love Karlson, and many of the others but they are not the same calibre in my view, and Karlson, will likely get paid more (marginally, but more) given his point totals. Doughty is just so solid...a perfect dman in my view.
