  1. Certainly not ideal. It's like having William Karlsson as your #1 centre. However, overpaying top players has not helped any of the playoff teams except for Montreal.
  2. My faulty recollection was that the Sedins also dragged out their contract extensions and Gillis had to see them personally to convince them that there was a plan to contend and they should accept the cap numbers. Long time ago, I can't remember the details.
  3. Spending too much on the team's best player has not worked out for many many teams in the playoffs.
  4. Worst case scenario, sign Hughes to 8 years deal which invites other teams to offer sheet Pettersson. Take the picks. Miller is the #1 centre. Problem solved. Move on.
  5. We also have Woo and Burroughs to throw into the fire. We can also claim every single RD off waivers from 31 other teams and rotate them throw the fire. I hope Brad Shaw does not resign his position.
  6. The problem isn’t 5 years, the problem is that fans are not confident that J.B. and the ownership in particular have the guts to trade Pettersson by year 4 of the contract if Pettersson says that he prefers to talk about contract extension by the end of year 5. Management and ownership need to be cold blooded and business like.
  7. It is perfectly sound to question vaccines. After all, vaccines take years to perfect and governments as well as pharma companies lie all the time. It is however a matter of rationality to balance and weigh the pros and cons of accepting vaccination. I was vaccinated because my spouse forced me to. She works for the pharma industry. This is perfectly rational. Happy wife happy life
  8. It's pretty ignorant to assume that the Canucks' ownership does not support J.B.'s negotiation approach. Does J.B. seem like a maverick to you? He is a yes-man.
  9. It would help the negotiations more if J.B. is going to talk to Buffalo and Arizona tonight and tell the media that the conversations went really well.
  10. The other guy was not deployed as a fourth line plug and PK specialist.
  11. Podkolzin is still suffering from PTSD playing in Russia. Like a lost puppy he needs to be adjusted to a more offensive style of hockey. I think the easiest way is for him to play on the 3rd line but inserted into the second power play unit. On the power play, I think he would intuitively allow himself to take more risks.
  12. Recall Nikolay Goldobin, decent size, great hands, good skater, great attitude, felt really sorry that he did not make it. It is too early to judge Klimovich.
  13. Yes, it is a lot easier trading Hughes if he is signed
  14. You think this is difficult, can you imagine how much of a shxtshow it would be when they are both due for the next contract a few years from now?
  15. Absolutely! I was very positive after watching 3 of the Arizona playoff bubble games.
  16. When Edler was OEL's age, Edler was a much much better defensive player. OEL is no where near Edler in the D zone.
  17. I think OEL will make fans really appreciate how Myers plays in the D zone.
  18. They will be by mid October. They are a duo and they wish to take up all the cap room they can so that J.B. won't be able to destroy this team through free agency. They are super heroes trying to save this team from J.B.
  19. Don't worry, Tucker Poolman can skate and will rush the puck up ice for OEL
  20. Most logical thing to happen is for both players to miss training camp and preseason which gives them another month. The team would be under immense pressure for the next month from the media, fans as well as other GM’s calling. This gives the players maximum pressure available to RFA’s without missing regular season games. Most logical thing thereafter is for JB to contact other GM’s to discuss trade options as a Doomsday option. For me personally, the only player that is untouchable is the captain.
  21. They will miss the preseason games as well, which gives them another month to procrastinate.
  22. OK Alf. $9.5 M per year max or we call Buffalo, Columbus and Arizona to torpedo Pettersson's career and his will to stay in North America.
  23. I would take $10 M x 8 years in a heart beat and bridge deal Hughes. However bridge dealing both players may give Canucks sufficient room for extending Boeser next year without trading away a major piece.
  24. Fair points. A good sign would be for Pettersson and Hughes to be skating near the Canucks camp next week awaiting their pending contracts. A bad sign is that they are in Sweden/US and hunkered down.
