[Signing] Stars sign Jani Hakanpaa
Maddogy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hakanpaa is one year older than Poolman and yet Poolman played more NHL games, averaged more minutes per game, and was given an opportunity on Winnipeg's top pairing. Hakanpaa is basically an oversized Oscar Fantenberg, but Fantenberg skates better. -
[Discussion] Are the Canucks now a legitimate playoff team?
Maddogy replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
It sure is a major tragedy that we don't have an overpaid and grumpy Nikita Tryamkin to bolster our lackluster LD. -
[Signing] Stars sign Jani Hakanpaa

I agree that Poolman is overpaid but I don't understand why some fans overrate Hakanpaa. Poolman is clearly the better D at this point of their careers. -
[Signing] Stars sign Jani Hakanpaa

I think Poolman is overpaid a bit. However, why it took so long for Hakanpaa to be signed? Did he want to play for Vancouver? He is one year older than Poolman and yet he played fewer NHL games and in lesser roles than Poolman in Winnipeg. I think Poolman is the safer bet. -
We may get into a situation where some of the RD have to learn how to play LD to get into the lineup

Recall that during the playoffs, the previous Canucks defence with Tanev was good enough to get them to game 7 against Vegas. I think this new defence is just as good on paper. We will see just how good. The forward group is scary. The opposition teams should anticipate a nasty surprise in store for them,

[Signing] Kings sign Alexander Edler
Maddogy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Whenever we need a power play against he Kings, just throw the puck in Edler's corner, he will help us out -
[Signing] Kraken sign Philipp Grubauer
Maddogy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For Colorado and Carolina, once player agents think you are A-Holes for playing hardball ALL THE TIME, free agent players have their bags packed already. When it comes to player signings and trades, you cannot have the league wide reputation that you MUST WIN ALL THE TIME. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Jaroslav Halak

The bonus is not good. He is likely to receive the bonus. -
signing: Savard signing with Habs
Maddogy replied to Wolfgang Durst's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
You need to understand what happened yesterday between the teams and free agents. Google it. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Tucker Poolman

A bottom pairing RD. Who is gonna be top 4 RD for Canucks? -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brandon Sutter
Maddogy replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I hope he becomes our Jason Spezza. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brandon Sutter
Maddogy replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hopefully J.B. will become the worst G.M. ever who has won the Stanley Cup. -
[Signing] Devils sign Dougie Hamilton
Maddogy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
A player who does not care for the Stanley Cup. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brandon Sutter

It would be hilarious if he scores 20 goals this year and becomes a generational 4th liner -
(Rumour) Canucks concerned about a Pettersson offer sheet
Maddogy replied to cuporbust's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Seattle might as well trade the offer sheet compensation picks to Buffalo for Eichel. -
Keeping J.B. is the correct move for now because he is an average G.M. which means that he is competent but not exceptional. By definition, exceptional means rare. People think that if you fire a G.M. a better candidate will magically show up to apply for the position. This is nonsensical and devoid of reality.

[Rumour]. Zadorov in Chicago.. may not stick .
Maddogy replied to SilentSam's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Zadorov is a bottom pairing D on a contender. No thanks. -
Well I'm relieved that the ownership is not going through a bankruptcy. For about a year, Van media kept reporting that the ownership is letting people go, wants to cut player salaries, can't afford to pay Travis Green and Ian Clark, and is keeping J.B. only because they don't want to pay someone else to be G.M.
-
Look at all the Canadian teams. Have any of them figured it out? Canadian markets and owners do not allow their G.M. to take the long road for rebuild. If J.B. is the G.M. of an American team, he may be able to just focus on the draft while wasting away seasons and the best years of prospects. The more trades and signings you make the more likely some trades and signings turn sour. If you are more passive, your betting percentage may go up. It’s not a coincidence that none of the Canadian teams is a legit cup contender.

[Report] Canucks G Holtby To Be Bought Out
Maddogy replied to babalu's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It's too bad J.B. shoots himself in the foot again. He has a great hockey mind. If only he can stop wasting the cap space over and over again he would be a great G.M. It's sad. -
Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
Maddogy replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
So the good news is that Pettersson will be signed soon. Either the parties come to an agreement or Canucks match an offer sheet. If an offer sheet is matched Canucks should try to acquire a healthy Eichel and let Pettersson suffer in Buffalo.
