  1. You are wrong. His puck battle skill is dismal compared to Tyler Motte, Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller.....etc . Boeser's effort is quite good. He wants to win puck battles. However his stick works are not quick enough to win battles in tight on a consistent basis. Boeser is not particularly good at down low cycling for this very reason even though he needs to be better down low because he is not speedy enough to play a north - south game.
  2. Whatever happens at the trade deadline, I just hope that the Canucks get on with their collaborative meetings in time. The last thing we want is for other G.M.'s on the phone waiting for Vancouver's collaborative process to take its sweet time to make sure everyone's view has been heard and fully acknowledged before the team as a whole comes up with a counter offer for a trade.
  3. Boeser lacks the separation speed needed to generate room for himself to release his shots in full swing. His puck battle skill is also lacking. I am very certain that he will score 35 goals per season eventually. The question is do you want to pay over $7 M per year in cap space for a complementary winger. As a comparison, J.T. Miller brings about the same level of offence, but is more dynamic, a better skater and plays in all situations. Miller is the engine that drives his line.
  4. Nah, he is a Canucks captain which means that he will get to game 7 of the Cup Finals and ......cry.........
  5. We will draft 1st overall during a crappy draft year. It's destiny.
  6. One of the most common thing I hear from foreigners is that Canada is so vast and so sparsely populated so why then are houses expensive?
  7. Pettersson is not a child. You cannot treat him as such. You cannot simply brush aside the grave consequences of his failures. Had he and Boeser played at Hughes and Demko levels, we would be touted as the up and coming contenders and J.B. as well Green would still be here. You need to treat him as an adult and let him know that he failed and partly due to his failure many people lost their jobs. There are young doctors, young nurses, young lawyers that screwed up and caused irreparable damages. This is what young professionals have to go through in their careers but you cannot defend them as if they are children.
  8. During the main time we have to sell the players who actually played well so that Pettersson will have more time to find himself. He is such a precious little flower.
  9. You forgot the worst franchise centre this season Elias Pettersson.
  10. J.B. went "all in" during the offseason and the players got him fired. Pettersson and Boeser were the chief culprits. If they are not happy trade them. If Bo does not wanna lead this team anymore trade him.
  11. Pettersson could end up like Patrik Laine. Scary
  12. I do not expect Boeser to remain a Canuck by the March trade deadline unless an extension has been reached by the deadline. He is not worth $7.5M per season right now but I would offer $7.5m x 8 years betting that he would eventually justify the annual cap rate.
  13. As I mentioned in other threads, the biggest hockey mistake made by J.B. and the ownership was to bet on the core players (especially Pettersson and Boeser) as well as some of our young players (e.g. Virtanen and Gaudette) to take the next step in their development and put the team on their shoulders. Pettersson and Boeser have failed miserably not as young players but as franchise players. Had J.B. and ownership known that their bet was premature they would have taken a very different approach. If J.B. ever gets another G.M. job he would likely preach patience to the ownership even if the core players on that team have exceeded expectations early on.
  14. I am curious but ignorant about the situation with the Islanders. Are they giving up on this season? They have a 1st round pick which may become a good pick if they miss the playoffs. They have at least 3 bad contracts with their forwards. If they wish to push for the playoffs they need to make a trade now to add more offence.
  15. Biggest problem with Boeser is the lack of separation speed. Defenders would stay close to him and check his stick before he releases his shot. Often times his shots would be deflected away or blocked. Perhaps Boeser is a better fit for a team that plays a physical downlow style such as the Islanders. I don't think his game is a perfect fit for a fast transition style.
  16. The problem is that Pettersson and Boeser don't have that ability to drive play, at least not yet. So the franchise has to sell now to buy more time so that hopefully couple of years from now these 2 children can actually put the franchise on their backs. Can you imagine the conversation we would be having if J.B. and the ownership were proven right and that Pettersson and Boeser took the next step in their development this season? Petterson on pace for 100 points and Boeser on pace for 40 goals.... Do you think we would possibly be asking Miller and Garland to be traded if Pettersson and Boeser did their jobs?
  17. On a side note, I think it is very apparent during the past 3 years that what went wrong with J.B. and the ownership is that they were surprised by the sudden promise of Pettersson and Hughes and therefore they got their hope too high. If you look at J.B. during the Pettersson draft, he was happy but not ecstatic. He would have told the ownership at that time that the rebuild/retool needs several more years because prospects like Pettersson were not ready and need time to develop overseas and eventually in the NHL. The dominance of Pettersson and Hughes during their rookie seasons as well as the playoffs torpedoed the patient approach. Both J.B. and the ownership believed that the young core players as well as guys like Virtanen and Gaudette are entering the steep part of their developmental curve meaning that several of the young prospects were expected to have career years. This was clearly incorrect. Had J.B. drafted the slow burn Sedins the patient approach would have endured. The Sedins took several years to become decent and no one expected them to become hall of famers. I think this is the perspective that J.B. would convey if he participates in future G.M. interviews.
  18. When Miller scored the 3rd goal I was so sad. He is my second favourite Canucks player behind Ryan Kesler. We need to trade him now to improve our chances of contending in the long run. We may never get another Kesler or Miller again
  19. Depends on your circle of friends. If they are older guys with steady jobs and a family to feed they are diplomatic. The most obnoxious guys I met so far are Toronto and Montreal fans for some reason.
  20. I think the logic behind any realistic trade proposal even under J.B. would be to acquire good C and RD prospects in return.
  21. Considering how Kane violated COVID protocols at least on 2 occasions, any team that signs him will put their players in danger.
  22. I have bitxxed about Pettersson in this thread numerous times as I perceive that he acted unprofessionally by failing to improve his skating and gain muscle weight in the offseason. However, even I have not asked Pettersson to be traded, although I would not mind seeing what may be available out there (Erik Cernak). Is he going to be a disappointment like Ryan Johansen? Possible. It is too early to tell.
