  1. You could say the same thing about Silovs and his lack of playing time but his game performance is much better than I would have expected. Don't think all of Dipietro's issues are due to lack of playing time.
  2. If they were being blown out in these game then I would agree with you. as it stands, regardless of the final score, they have been very good when 5 on 5. I think that buys TG some time to get the special teams in order. That being said there has to be some improvement in the next couple of games with the special teams or JB will at fire TG and move Shaw in as interim coach. Slim pickings when it comes to available coaches now that the season is underway.
  3. It looks to have been an exceptional draft. Pods and Hogs already starting to show their stuff in the NHL and Silovs and McDonough really upping their value this year. Canucks will need to have some of their draft picks make it to the NHL in order to keep the pipeline of young talent flowing.
  4. More to the point though was that he was a 9th round pick that made it all the way to the NHL for a lot more than just a cup of coffee. Never say never.
  5. Yes he was but there must have been a lot of holes in his game to not be drafted until the 9th round. Still; he persisted and found a way to play for many years in the NHL
  6. Most likely a long shot to play in the NHL but never say never... Jannik Hansen was proof of that. Routing for the kid as I do for most Canuck prospects while at the same time recognizing the actual realities of any of them making it
  7. I agree with that but it also applies to most of the other teams around the league. If the Canucks can figure out how to improve their PK and PP special teams they will be able to make a legitimate push for a playoff spot.
  8. Excellent post IBatch. Nice to see a well thought out post that is both sensible and logical instead of all the emotional childish rants that so many others tend to post
  9. The question will be what do you do with OEL, Quinn and Rathbone all on the same side? Do they move Quinn to the right side; or do they trade one of them for a big imposing LHD that can make decent passes but more known for his physical play and clearing out the front of the net
  10. They way I would interpret what Travis said would be that he has received his 1st shot and thus is technically "vaccinated" but has yet to receive his 2nd shot thus him having to follow Covid protocol. Since we have no way of knowing when he got his 1st shot we also have no idea as to when he is eligible to get the 2nd one. I do believe they also have a 14 day interval after the 2nd shot to take full effect before being deemed fully vaccinated
  11. I hope Rathbone can excel while in Abby and make a case for him to be a full time player in the NHL. Since he will no longer be waiver exempt next year , some major decisions will have to be made on the LD.
  12. Not a peep anywhere on his injury or status for a possible return.... seems very odd. At this stage of his career he is probably no more than an AHL player if he even comes back to play.
  13. Man... did you ever come to the wrong chat room.
  14. I think this is a good move for both clubs. Hamonic brings size and defensive abilities to the Vancouver club and Rathbone will get a chance to play big minutes and hone his defensive game while down in Abby
  15. He has been in 3 games so far but might be one of the players that Cull was referring to as being banged up a bit. Keppen, Plasek, Nielsen and Wouters are all getting spot duty right now. All are rookies, so that is not all that surprising.
  16. I have my doubts that they will but it is possible.
  17. From what coach Cull said of him it made me think of Clark Gilles. Clark needed someone to cheap shot him to wake him up and then he went into full beast mode. Maybe that is what Bailey needs
  18. I would be more inclined to revisit this MDP vs Silovs discussion around midway through the season. We should have a better idea how each is progressing at that time. If neither is outstanding by that point; I would really consider Halak as an option but of course that depends on how well he is performing too.
  19. Silovs is off to an impressive start... hope he can keep it up.
  20. He has probably heard it all before, so I doubt it has much effect on him. I have called him an angry Elf on here as well and I was not trying to be disrespectful. There is no denying that he is not tall in stature but the way he plays makes you think he is 6'5 and 255 lbs. Now if only some of our larger players had that same fire in their bellies
  21. I'll take that angry Elf anytime. He plays like he is 10 ft. tall and bullet proof. Eckman Larsen is good but Garland is an outright theft in the trade with AZ.
  22. Not that method of clean lol.
  23. I'm hoping he becomes our clean version of Brad Marchand. Tenacious and hardworking without all the other BS that Marchand is known for.
