Lol... It can be either. Depends on if you are American or Canadian. -

I am not the least bit worried about Schmitty's exuberance. It certainly did not affect his play or team mates in Vegas and I very much doubt it will here either. If in the very unlikely event it is affecting the team or individual players in any negative way; I am sure Travis will have a chat with him. IMO... a lot of ado about nothing. -

Nice to see you back on here Rob. I always enjoyed your take on things even if I didn't always agree on some of them. Cheers! -

He is working his way towards getting on the roster.... Utica roster. -
I am too.

Never say never. As I recall; Alex Burrows was not even drafted and look how that turned out. It will be interesting to watch how he progresses as the Canucks have till mid 2023 to sign him or not. He does seem to have some similar attributes to Alex but only time will tell if he is NHL material.

Schmidt... Protestant not Catholic lol. Until I became involved in Genealogy I did not realize the difference. No big deal rush17 but hope many of the CDC'ers on here will come to spell the players names correctly. -
Thank you Deb. My off handed remark on Googlies post was not intended to be taken to seriously. My apologies.

The Canucks do not have another D man on the roster or in the pipeline that has those attributes of size and physical play. He definitely will fill that need. No more forwards crowding the net with out paying a price for trying to do so.
-
I think there is a very good chance that we see the Canucks carry as many as 9 D men if the NHL allows taxi squads. The 4 regulars would be Edler, Hughes, Myers and Schmidt, with Benn probably seeing partial duty with the Canucks slotting a rookie or two into certain games vs certain teams and also as needed due to injuries. I think both practising with the Canucks and getting some ice time at the NHL level along with lots of video review of their performances and skills development would be a good thing. The Canucks will need the added depth of skilled NHL ready players if they want to challenge for Lord Stanley's Cup. My guess of those on the taxi squad would be Juolevi, Rafferty, Rathbone and Chatfield or Brisbois.

Not sure but I think he is referring to mooner Matthews and his bare derriere awhile back in AZ.
-
Perhaps.... but for totally opposite reasons. Virtanen gets that treatment for lacklustre compete performance. The same can not be said for Podkolzin; his compete level is not an issue.
-
My understanding is that he is not likely to join the club this year and could be signed at the end of the 2020/21 season if there is one.
-
I don't find that a very big issue unless the Canucks run into a lot of injuries as only 6 are on the playing roster at one time. In some ways it might be beneficial to have that flexibility as TG can match who he puts in on the bottom pairing depending on who they are playing and also how well each rookie is performing.
-
IMO, that is very likely. If the Canucks carry 8 D like they normally do there is a chance that 6,7,and 8 are rookies with Jordy Benn's status as the #5 D up for grabs if there are no further roster moves. If Tryamkin comes back next year he will likely be replacing Benn
-
Wishful thinking but I hope you are right.
-
I too think he will be near a PPG but doubt very much if we see an 82 game schedule. I think it more likely that it will be 50 or so games at best.

Soap opera at its worst..... Let's hope some people can actually get back on topic.

You got that right LOL. There are a few posters that are eating a lot of crow these days for their comments right after he was drafted. For all the CDC'ers and their Benning bashing.... he is a much better evaluator of the players in the draft than we could ever hope to be.

Chatfield and Bailey were both arbitration eligible and awaiting being signed or appearing for their hearings.
-
I'm just suggesting some of the possibles and not necessarily the probables. I doubt that Loui refuses to report but it is a possibility. I am also willing to bet he gets sent down if nothing else changes between now and the startup of the season. As for Ferland... who knows how he will be by the time the season starts.

An awful lot depends on what happens with Eriksson. As things stand right now, I am expecting both Eriksson and Baertschi will be put on waivers and sent to Utica if they clear. That will get them under the cap if they bring up a some of Rafferty, Juolevi, Sautner or Brisbois to fill the defensive groupings. If Eriksson refuses to report he will be suspended and Canucks will have grounds to terminate his contract thus freeing up 6 mil in cap space. Eriksson would then be free to sign with another team if he so chooses and is able to find a suitor. Lots of other things could happen between now and Tryamkin's possible return. There are a number of expiring contracts that could be shopped at the trade deadline ( when ever that might be) that could also free up both spots and space for incoming players.

A bit off topic but with Tanev, Markstrom, Leivo and Domingue all signing with The Calgary " Canucks" I thought this was an apt twitter post
