  1. Curious why you think that Stawns. They would have to move out some contracts to be sure. Sutter, Benn and Roussel come to mind as well as Loui and Baer either in Utica, traded or bought out. Big Mac replaces Loui on the 4th line, Leivo gets resigned and either Brisbois replaces Benn or Rafferty replaces Stetcher. Projected lines IMO for next year: Miller, Pettersson, Toffoli.......Pearson, Horvat, Boeser.... Leivo, Gaudette, Virtanen......Motte, Beagle, McEwen. defence lines: Edler, Myers.....Hughes, Tanev......Brisbois, Stetcher. With the CAP likely going up a few million this could be workable. Again; this is all purely conjecture on my part but would love to see it happen
  2. I like the way Sutter defends when healthy but not sure they would be able to keep him and Toffoli along with all of the other contractual obligations that are coming up and still be under the Cap.
  3. If TT continues to play the rest of the season and playoffs the way he has the last two games "and" wants to sign and be a part of this team; I think they can make room for him but it will involve a few roster moves for that to happen and stay under the cap. I can see Sutter, Roussel and Benn all being traded / moved for picks or prospects. Also; With Eriksson and Baertschi, JB could have a number of options available IMO. They both could wind up playing in Utica, traded in the summer or retire (not likely). Additions to the team would be McEwen and Brisbois or Rafferty brought up as the 7th D
  4. Both likely factor into the push for the playoffs.... better job security for JB and TG as well as big time revenue that is generated from the home games for Aquilini.
  5. If he could display on a regular basis, the drive and compete that young Podkolzin has; he would be a beast for us out on the ice and a top 6 power forward to boot.
  6. Totally agree... Those super inflated ego's in Toronto and New York would not be able to handle that scenario.
  7. You really need to get some help for this addiction Sam
  8. I was one of those that thought we should move Tanev at or before the trade deadline but the outstanding additions and performances of Miller and Hughes have caused me to reconsider that idea. If Tryamkin does come back it would more likely be Stecher that gets moved but think that would happen in the off season.
  9. Simple solution ... accumulate 500 minuses and your account gets deleted.
  10. He has gone downhill since the start of the season and as you mentioned; a change of scenery might do him good.
  11. He was on a far worse team last year and was one of the few bright spots on that team. Not sure what has changed as I have not watched any of this years games.
  12. It was a great game to watch. Do have a question for those who follow the WHL and their take on Hit man defenseman Jackson Van De Leest the guy is a moose...6'7 - 229 lbs hometown Kelowna. I think he is draft eligible this year.
  13. You have your work cut out for you then considering who they elected.
  14. I would as well but would maybe like to see something like this for the line up Miller, Pettersson, Virtanen Pearson, Horvat, Boeser Roussel, Gaudette, Bailey a) Eriksson, Sutter, and either Schaller or McEwen if Beagle is out due to injury OR b) Eriksson, Beagle, Sutter; if Beagle is good to go for Saturdays game
  15. Silovs named 1st star again tonight although in a losing effort in overtime. He stopped 38 of 41 shots for a .927 save percentage..... It's not hard to see why the Canucks drafted and signed him.
  16. I disagree Ossi. I think they will play Bailey over McEwen as they already have a pretty good idea on Big Mac's projected fit with the team whereas Bailey is more of an unknown as to how he might fit in. Bailey has the wheels and shooting ability that he might fit in nicely on the 3rd line with Boes. moving back up with Horvat and Pearson. Bailey, Gaudette and Roussel could be a very interesting combo to watch as the line has a mix of everything on it... speed, scoring and play making ability plus irritation factor (Roussel) With Boesser taking Loui's place on the 2nd line; Loui could fill in on the 4th line with Sutter and either Schaller or McEwen if Beag's is unable to go.
  17. Actually Justin Bailey is the one with more NHL experience. He has 63 games and 9 points in the NHL vs 12 games and 3 points for McEwen
  18. Another solid performance from Silovs tonight. 1st star; two goals against on 36 shots for a .944 save percentage.... hope he can keep it up!
  19. IMO. Jake is a bit of an enigma that way as he does not seem to be as driven as the likes of Pettersson or Miller. I doubt that a big fat payday would change the way either of them play. Time and a big payday will be the Litmus test for Jake.
  20. Nice to see Silovs get the shut out tonight; he needed that. It has been a rough stretch for both him and the team over the last couple of months.
  21. I thought this might be of help in this discussion: As copied from Wikipedia site. Inherent risk assessment The Import Draft has inherent risks that teams must assess, before making a draft pick which costs $2,000 up front.[5] Drafted players may not report, therefore teams want to be certain a player will.[4] Potential draftees have often been previously chosen in the NHL Entry Draft, and thus have an incentive to report to a CHL team because NHL teams want prospects closer for development.[4] Also, there is more exposure to scouts in North America for imports not drafted by an NHL team.[4] Competition with the KHL Junior Draft for the same player is also an obstacle.[6] Imported players usually prefer playing in the CHL instead of the United States Hockey League, due to the higher level of competition.[7] Most CHL teams have contacted few players in advance of the draft.[8] Scouting these players is difficult as most teams do not employ European scouts, but rather rely on videos and limited exposure at international tournaments.[9] Players may also have professional contracts in European domestic leagues.[8] The current system can be compared to an auction, where teams are bidding for services in competition with these other leagues, and have to pay large release fees.[10] Once an import draftee reports to a CHL team, there is also risk involved in whether the player adapts to being far away from home, the ability to speak English or French, playing on smaller ice surfaces, and the more physical North American game.[9] There is a year-long moratorium on trading the pick, once in the CHL, which is to prevent bidding for services by larger market clubs. [10] One benefit of selecting an import player before he is drafted into the NHL, is that he is treated like a North American player in the sense that he will either have to play in the CHL or NHL, and not in the American Hockey League.[11]
  22. Maybe there is hope for him to return to the NHL now that he has added a bit of push back to his game
