  1. pre 1946.... been around the block a few times have ya lol.
  2. Already did that Edler - Myers Hughes - Tryamkin Benn - Rafferty Fantenberg Tryamkin should be a bit cheaper than Tanev to sign and probably a heck of a lot more durable, especially come playoff time Rafferty would be a much cheaper option than Stetcher and with cap space next year likely to be a very real concern; I think this move is likely going to happen but does Stetcher, who has arbitration rights, get moved before the TDL or in the off season. Either way I see Rafferty on this team next season if not before, unless he has a monumental setback in the second half of Utica's season. As a side note: He is currently on pace for a 70 point season as a freshman D man.
  3. I'm not sure that Tanev is still here by the trade deadline. A couple of factors will likely come into play at that time. 1) Is the team still in the playoff hunt or at least very close? 2) Does JB have a solid read on whether Tryamkin is likely to sign and join the team for a playoff push? If the answer to #1 is yes, they may hold on to him and try to sign him to some kind of term before the end of the season. If the answer to #2 is that Tryamkin has indicated through his agent that he intends to sign and play for the Canucks then JB may move Tanev before the deadline. Regardless of which way the Tanev / Tryamkin scenario plays out; I think that Stetcher might be moved before the TDL if they are out of the playoff picture in favor of bringing up Brogan Rafferty. Not sure how his overall game will translate to the NHL but if he can continue to improve his defensive game, he could give the Canucks a lot of different options at both 5 on 5 and on the PP
  4. My post was not so much as to specifically blame the coaching but to ask if those that watch the Barrie Colts games if they have any first hand views and thoughts as to why his game seems to have regressed as the season has progressed. Not so much as to blame coaching but more to try and understand why Silovs game has gone south on him thus the reason for the original post.
  5. That is all very true but Silov's game has steadily gone south as the season has progressed. Hard to say if it is Silovs, the coaching, the play of the team or a combination of any or all of the three. I just hope that it gets figured out soon and his play starts to progress in a more positive direction.
  6. I really don't think Billy' s game style from the 80's translates well to the modern game. It could be a wasted year for him if he is coaching him that way. I have not seen any of the games live so do not know if that is the case but I do wonder.
  7. Unfortunately since my last posting back in November; Silovs game has gone downhill. Not sure for the reason but do wonder if Barrie's goal tending coach, Billy Smith, is a good choice for the style of play that goaltenders use now. Do we have a few goaltenders here on CDC that have any thoughts on this? I would love to see the young man get his game back that he had at the start of the season as he was looking like a steal of a pick for a 6th rounder.
  8. Other than Chatfield the other two are not really suited for that defensive shutdown style of play that Tanev excels at. though Chatfield's game is similar, he is still not ready to fill Tanev's shoes just yet. As for Rafferty; he would be more suited as a replacement for Stetcher, as their games are a bit more similar in style. Tryamkin could be an interesting wildcard on RD as he certainly has the size and strength to clear the net and be a shut down specialist but it remains to be seen if or when he might return to the Canucks.
  9. Lukas Jasek is quietly having a very promising season. His move to center has gone well and he may may get a call up to Vancouver later on in the season if he continues improve at the pace he is currently on.
  10. Who ever is lucky enough to draft Luke Hughes in two years time. 16 year old defenseman; already 6 ft tall and 161 lbs. He is likely going to be every bit as good Quinn and possibly even better.
  11. Brogan having another solid game with 3 assists so far tonight.
  12. That is the million dollar question. I have no answer as to how they might handle his return going forward. I do think that they will run with 14 forwards until closer to the trade deadline and if all of the forwards are healthy (an unlikely scenario); Graovac (once he is off the injured list) and Eriksson would be waived to make room for them. As for Sutter's deployment, a lot will depend on how well the Gaudette line performs over the next few games. Coach Green may opt to move players in and out of the lineup depending on who they are playing and also whether it is a home or away game. The next few weeks may get very complicated for management to navigate through and will no doubt create a heap of fodder for discussion here on the chat line.
  13. I am hoping that coach Green keeps the line combo of Roussel, Gaudette and Virtanen together for awhile. I really like they way that line is performing and feel it can still be better yet. Having a third line that is more than capable of scoring makes it much harder for the opposing team to cover them all.
  14. IMO; of all the acquisitions that JB made in the off season, J.T. Miller is by far the best of the bunch and well worth a 1st round pick regardless of which year it turns out to be.
  15. From the game sheet it looks like he is playing tonight. Hope he does well
  16. San Jose may have lost out to to the Canucks on the subsequent trade.... jury is still out on that one.
  17. I would be shocked to see Babcock even coaching again. Hockey is evolving and even the coaches are being swept up with the changes that are happening. I think that if anyone in the Canucks organization is on thin ice it would have to be Trent Cull. He was not their 1st or 2nd choice for the job but the others were snapped up right away by other teams. Not sure who they could find to replace him as his support staff is suspect as well. I do think that Jonathan Dahlen came to Utica with a sense of entitlement because of his previous year in Sweden. I also believe he will make it back to the NHL in the next few years once he has matured a bit. He has the skills to play the game but has to have his head on straight in order to succeed in the NHL.
  18. Smokes.... Your not getting old, just well seasoned like me
  19. Bo should be close by the 3/4 mark of the season if he continues on his current pace.
  20. It was a worthy assist but I don't give much weight to empty net goals
  21. For all the skill and compete this young lad shows he still needs to bulk up a bit before he plies his trade in the NHL; I think a year in Utica would benefit both the team and him. Gives him time to add body mass and adjust to the pro life as well. The future looks bright for him but lets not be in a rush, rather let him fully develop in Utica than possibly struggle in Vancouver. Training camp next year will more than likely determine if he is ready or needs more seasoning.
  22. If he gets those numbers he isn't going anywhere. Doubt he gets traded even if he doesn't get them. Since you seem to be in the know..... who do you have in mind that is better and that the team can fit in under the cap??
