  1. If he keeps knocking down guys like Kronwall, I don't think wanting to have teams hating him will be a problem.
  2. As much as I like Zack and what he may bring to the table I just don't seeing that happen at all this season. He might get a call up the following year towards the end of that season though and IMHO it may take that long or longer for him to be fully ready for the big show. I hope he proves me wrong but that is my opinion of where he is at right now.
  3. I and by the look of it, others think they are as well. I think Sutter might be tried as the #2 C at the start of camp and Gaudette as the #3 C. The other scenario might be Gagner or Granlund as the #2 C with Sutter as the #3 C and Gaudette on his wing. However it plays out; Gagner will be gone by the trade deadline if not before. In a lot of ways, having Gaudette play on the wing with Sutter at C might be a great way to transition him in for where he likely will be playing in the near future.
  4. I was disappointed in Gagner's play this past season and I think Gaudette; while still a bit rough around the edges, brings a more complete game to the table. His work ethic and determination are miles beyond that of Gagner. If it were up to me (which it is not) I would keep Gaudette on the team and be looking to move Gagner. Argument could be made of his leadership value but as someone had previously stated on this thread, we have other leaders such as Beagle, Sutter and Horvat that already have that quality.
  5. Travis seems to be a stickler for playing a complete game and that means at both ends of the ice; so Leipsic, Goldobin and Dahlen best remember that going into camp.
  6. I am expecting him to start in the AHL but he may be called back up either towards the TDL or before that if the injury bug takes its toll on the D. Regardless of how it plays out, I think Benning will move one of the LH D-men for a draft pick and Ollie will be on the team to finish the season.
  7. Good to see that Travis is going to make sure that Elias needs to show he can be effective defensively in his own zone on the smaller ice surface and at an NHL level of compete. Elias seems to be the type of player that rises up to a challenge so it will be interesting in main camp and preseason as to how he responds.
  8. Not going to happen this year as Big Mac will be playing in Utica this year. I like him as a prospect but he is not yet ready for the big show yet.
  9. It is that passion for the game and his grit that just might land him on the team at the start of the season. I thought he showed promise centering a line with Virtanen and Leipsic towards the end of last year and hope he can improve upon that this year given the chance.
  10. I think the team needs to see a better 200ft game from him this year. Travis puts a lot of emphasis on that to all of his players. If he can show improvement in that area he will most likely make the team.
  11. Pretty sure he is ineligible due to his age so will be going back to his OHL club this year.
  12. I'm really going to enjoy a rematch in the playoffs between Utica and Toronto with the depth of talent that will likely be on the team this year and also having the bash brothers of Jonah and Big Mac taking turns raising havoc in front of the Toronto net minder. We may even have Archie down there as well to aide and abet Lol.
  13. Next year may be even better as Quinn is likely to join the club. There could be some highlight clips from those two.
  14. All very valid points. I personally like the guy but I am hoping he realizes how intense the competition is going to be and comes into camp guns a blazing.
  15. I would add Gaudette to that mix based on his work ethic and 200ft game. I don't think we saw the real Gaudette in the last two games but will from now on where it really matters.
  16. I am personally really looking forward to the main camp and preseason as this years competitions will be like none we have seen in a very long time. everyone best be ready to scratch and claw for roster spots this year.
  17. In addition to my previous post. Once main camp and preseason are underway; that is where you should be judging these prospects as that is where practices, scrimmages and games are meaningful, as that is where they will be evaluated as to where they fit in the grand scheme of things.
  18. I think you both are reading way to much into his play in what are exhibition games for the likes of Olli, Elias, Adam and Jonathan. None of these players are going to be judged on their performance in these games. The only ones that should be trying to make an impact there are the ones trying to get invited to main camp. why would they risk injury in a mean nothing game before the season even starts.
  19. I don't always agree on your take on things but IMO you are bang on in the logic of making room for some of the prospects but the wildcards in all of this are injuries that may happen in camp and the preseason as well as a young prospect or two that blow the doors off and make it very difficult to send them to the minors.
  20. Depending on what coach Green chooses to do, he has the option of carrying 14 forwards and 7 d-men into the season and I am expecting that is just what he will do. Also of note is that if Tim Schaller is not cleared to go at the start of the season they have the option of putting him on injured reserve to start the season and that is one more spot that will be open at least in the shot term.
  21. I very much agree this is the year they have to really bring it.
  22. If Leipsic and Goldy don't bring their "A" game to the show considering all the competition there is going to be then they may get outplayed by Dahlen. If so then I guess they are masters of their own fate.
  23. I never said anything about not giving them a chance but they had better bring it this preseason or they most assuridly will be on their way out of town. That is what competition is all about and finally we have a group of young up and comers that are going to challenge the vets to be either better or be gone.
  24. If Gaudette brings his 200 ft game to the preseason and beyond with consistency he will IMO make the team. We had a lot of veterans that were not putting much effort into the back check with speed. Gaudette and Pettersson may both make the team for that very reason and a couple of vets that don't bring it in both directions will be on the move
