One of my friends named his oldest son after Ornette.

I have spent quite a bit of time in the Okanagan. I have always had a deep respect for first nations people in regards to their connection to the flora and fauna they co habit with in many places on this planet. And of course the connection that we are all humans. I did a bit a research even before the internet and learnt about the Syilx people. Friends from that area educated me a little. I don't pretend to know much about your people apart from the injustices visited upon them however I would love to know more. Our first nations people also use the term walkabout as a descriptor of the temporary mobility of the nomadic tribes.

Have you been vaccinated (Part Deux as of Sept 25, 2021)?

Do you need the government to tell you how to look after yourself ? If you care about your health you should do these things even if there was not a pandemic. I have Yakult daily. Vitamin C when I am pushing hard or feel a bit run down. Go to my doc regularly who I have built I good relationship with. I used to be an athlete and I learned to "listen" to my body and also educate myself about it. You get out what you put in,both in terms of nutrition and knowledge. -

I use daves schick razor myself. Five blades, gives a very close smooth shave. As for my critical thinking I use a combination of research and common sense. -
Not all of us. I have never bagged a Canucks player or a player on another team or other teams. While the Canucks are my team I am an ice hockey fan full stop.

No offense intended my friend. I understand your frustration. I have a great deal of respect for you. I myself am guilty of finding the worst of our species at times.

I created this thread to find the good- positive things our species is capable of. The important thing to me about that article was that the kids were still allowed to be scouts and they were helping others. Social media is $#@$## up. All people want to talk about is the bad things that happen. Posters continually insult other teams and their players saying things they would never courage to say to their faces. We have been back in lockdown for months now. Mine and many others mental health is deteriorating. My 8 year old son is suffering severe anxiety,he has had a meltdown each of the last 3 days he has been with me for the school holidays. Please try and keep things positive in this thread.

Here in Victoria- Australia we have had the harshest restrictions/lockdown on the planet. I don't know exactly what your leaders have planned but here is Aus there is a "road map" to opening up our society both within it and to the outside world. This is based on medical advice/science. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-19/victoria-roadmap-out-of-covid-lockdown-restrictions-explained/100474112 It is predicated on hitting vaccination targets/ percentages of people vaccinated. We have just had a spike in cases in Melbourne due to anti-vaxxers protesting, spitting on police, health workers and other members of the community and people breaking the rules and gathering for AFL Grand Final parties. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-23/victorian-protests-condemned-after-mass-arrests/100484750 https://amp.abc.net.au/article/100504586 And yes I will not only call them nutbags, however anyone who spits on anyone else especially with the idea of transmitting a virus, is a scumbag. " I know history" to and governments cannot be trusted however after pumping hundreds of billions into the economy and a year later with the economy on delicately balanced do you really believe they want to keep thousands of businesses-who are taxpayers- shut down ? -

Those that don't get the vaccination will face the prospect of not going to sporting events, eating out at restaurants, going to concerts etc. We will have vaccine passports, those who have them will be able to do these things, those that don't,won't. -

Yep me to. Even more than myself I am doing this for others. People who are at risk from the virus, the thousands of small businesses that have been shut down for the majority of the outbreak here in Victoria. The kids like my son who have not been able to go to school and build those crucial social skills that are so important later in life. There is going to be a whole generation of kids who will have lasting effects from not being able to interact with their peers. -

What cracks me up is some people state why do you put something in your body that you don't know what it really is. Over 30 years ago they were snorting $hit of a dunny lid at the middle hotel which they had no idea of what it was composed of. Double vaxxed and helping to put my society on the path to opening up again. -
Not tolerated ? Racism is on the rise https://theconversation.com/anti-semitism-is-on-the-rise-75-years-after-the-end-of-the-holocaust-and-second-world-war-132141 My own country https://www.news.com.au/world/middle-east/antisemitism-is-on-the-rise-in-australia-as-israel-conflict-escalates/news-story/513b88f3355178e131b3d202b5d639e2 England https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2020/sep/24/equity-rise-in-complaints-of-racism-new-gen-secretary-paul-fleming My country again in regards to Asians and Muslims https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/mar/17/australia-urged-to-adopt-plan-to-fight-resurgence-of-racism I could print up article after article how racism is in the rise world wide with Asians especially being victims since Covid. One of my partner's closest friends niece was spat upon and abused last week for being Asian.

Fantastic song off a great album. This is an issue that is quite common in the Australian Football league both on and off the field. Over 25 years ago Nicky Winmar pulled his jumper up and proudly pointed to his skin colour due to the full on racial abuse he was getting from Collingwood fans. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-07-05/story-behind-the-iconic-nicky-winmar-photo/11282028 Over 20 years later this $hit is still happening. From Aussie of the year to leaving the game in disgust. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/from-gutted-to-glad-why-goodes-now-sees-mcg-racial-slur-as-a-positive-20210911-p58qtb.html Dudes a living legend in book. This POS was the host of the highest rating footy show at the time and this was his "reaction". Warning contains highly offensive viewing,it went prime time at the time only a few years back. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-31/lions-detail-shocking-racism-afl/100419898 First nations people make up 3 percent of our population yet represent 11 percent of players on AFL lists. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-20/numbers-indigenous-players-impact-on-australian-rules-football/12574182 As I have stated on this forum before this country is still very racist at its "white heart". And our talented courageous first nations athletes cop this crap to this day. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-11/taylor-walker-afl-racism-community-incidents-spike/100368994 As the article states this permeates down to the lower leagues. Racism is one of the few things I hate, and I teach my son to stand up against.

Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life Confucius I get up everyday and try to be the best I can be at the things I do. I find happiness in achieving that. Dave
