Hi my friend. Going through a hard time in my life right now however I believe that a big part of what defines a person is how they deal with adversity. I am in my late fifties, one does feel their mortality as the decades slide by. I have always believed, and the events of the last five years have reinforced my belief that all we can take to the grave is being true to ourselves. Since my teens I have never believed in the human constructs that our species define as gods. What some define as a spirit/ soul I would define as our minds. Both those quotes are very pertinent to a philosophical discussion, what connects them is our minds. I have posted this article on this forum before however I don't know if you have read it. https://suebrayne.co.uk/2011/03/28/professor-brian-cox-god-and-the-universe/ This kinda sums up my feelings on this particular subject.

Another member suggested a thread in which we can discuss philosophy. I was prompted to do this after reading a discussion some posters had with one poster about the guy that was involved in the mass shooting in Buffalo. I believe most members know how I feel about morality and a sense of justice. However who am I or you reading this to say that our morals/ sense of justice is correct ? Who, if anyone is the arbiter of what is morally right or wrong. I believe that we should treat each other, the way we expect to be treated, however am I correct to believe this ? Why do many of us believe a person like trump, to be acting in a manner we consider wrong ? What makes us right to believe this ? Also feel free to discuss the usual big questions Is there a purpose to our lives ? Do we really have free will ? Can you really experience anything objectively ? What are numbers ?

The second life lesson I teach my son, the first being treat others the way you expect to be treated, is never give up. I mean never ! Believe in yourself totally and always put 100 percent into what you do and the sky is the limit. Physical skills are important however training the mind is the most important training any athlete can do. I wish you and your son all the best and I hope he achieves his dreams. -
Thanks for a good series @winterhawks Red Wings Roster for next round Patrick Maroon... Steven Stamkos... Vladimir Tarasenko Jesse Puljujarvi....Blake Coleman Cal Foote.....Brett Kulak Philip Broberg Good luck @lethunder

I am in total agreement with you. We need a top pairing defenseman with decent size, good positional awareness and the ability shutdown other teams best forwards. We have Hughes, offensive minded D- man. Hard to say if any of this draft has this sort of quality however the more video of Bichsel I watch, the more I believe he has the best chance to turn into this kind of player that we will be able to pick at 15. He will need a few years in Sweden/ AHL to grow his game.

It has always been this way. I have never trusted the media/ vested interests. Read Chomsky's/ Hermans Manufacturing Consent. $hit read anything by Chomsky. Read The Cointelpro Papers. Read anything by John Pilger. There are dozens more books that illustrate what I have been discussing for years on this forum. I have been listening to punk music for over 40 years. I was 11 years old when my folks took me to England and I saw the punks in the streets of London when it was a new social movement. For decades Punk music, real punk music has shone a spotlight on social injustice. The pinnacle of all these bands IMO is NOFX. Mike Burkett has been writing songs for nearly 40 years about social injustice in the US. This song that Mike wrote nearly 25 years ago song encapsulates so much that is wrong with our species It is their seminal work. And so we go on with our lives We know the truth but prefer lies Lies are simple, simple is bliss Why go against tradition when we can Admit defeat live in decline Be the victim of our own design The status quo built on suspect Why would anyone stick out their neck Tell me this isn't true I am so fearful for my son and his generations future

Back when I was a younger fella it was rights of passage thing for young Aussie blokes in Victoria to get a four wheel drive and go camping, fishing and hunting " up north". I remember catching big barramundi, hunting wild pigs with dogs and knives and generally having a bloody good time for 6 months. Once we put a big chunk of wild pigs meat on the hook on the end of a winch cable from our four-wheel drive, towed it out into the river and tried to catch a fresh water crocodile. Places that were pristine and untouched are now tourist destinations. I remember camping in the Airlie Beach public caravan park for 2 bucks a night, listening to the waves on the beach by our campfire. Now it's a marina for big ass boats and their billionaire owners.

Thanks Brother. My picks are second and fifth.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. I have ramped up my research in the last month and I am not sure that Nemec and Jiricek will be big point scoring D-men. I drafted Anthony de Angelo in his draft year, before character issues were apparent and also took a punt on Rasmus Andersson in his draft year. It has taken a while however he is turning out how I invisioned. They are not on my team I took a break and took over another team. I have Philip Broberg and Cal Foote as the core of my D for the future. Injuries have hampered Broberg and a stacked D at Tampa have limited Foote's opportunity's, however I still have high hopes for them.

When I first heard that song I never thought, or wanted to live long enough, to be considered an old man. Now I am not far that away.......age wise..... So many of my friends....

I was being serious. Great prediction last year. Let's say you are a GM in a fantasy league on this board were forwards get 3 points for an assist/ goal and d- men get 5 points and you had 2 of the five first picks, who would you draft ?
-
Bump Will you be my assistant GM please ?

A big thanks to all those who put the work in.

These guys were an incredible band, their live performance were insane. They always had insane costumes. They stated they didn't want to buy into the cult of personality. They also took the piss out of everything. This song is spoken word, it tells of a change in our bar scene/ society during the 90's This article gives some insight. https://www.theaureview.com/music/please-take-me-seriously-reflections-on-tism/ Saw them about a dozen times.

Was gutted when I heard about Ken's death. My neighbour when I lived with my ex was a huge fan of these guys. He would come over, we would smoke a few fatties and listen to a few of their albums. Their name says it all for me. Here is another bunch of Canadian Punk legends. Both these bands are at the heart of Canadian Punk rock
