All we can truly take to the to the grave with us is being true to ourselves. In my case that is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I teach my son many things however I tell him if he only learns one thing from me it is this.

As I have pointed out on this forum before, the origins of the term woke in the context people use it as a political/ social statement can be traced back to a speech Martin Luther King gave at Oberlin college in 1965 titled, Remaining Awake through a Great Revolution. https://incaseyoureinterested.com/2019/01/21/mlk-jr-on-getting-woke-audio/ Read the excerpt from the speech in that article and you will realise not much has changed. -

A bit dated however still holds true. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/research/2018/03/online-violence-against-women-chapter-1/ Like all these platforms, this one included, it has users that post statements they would never say to a person's face. -

I don't get to see the games so I rely on you guys to inform me as the game progresses. I just wanted to check the facts and post them up. Like I stated not trying to piss anyone off. Why I chose sports like skiing, MTBing and dirt bikes was because there were no refs involved and I didn't have to rely on others to give 100 percent like I do. 1.33 beats 1.34 pure and simple, no ref is gonna take away my race win. -

https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/what-nhl-team-has-most-penalties-per-game-2021 According to stat muse we are ranked 25th in the NHL for penalties against this season. An average of 3.39 penalties per game. That means 24 teams are assessed more penalties per game than we get. Don't mean to be a smart arse however with all the complaints I thought I would actually check the facts out. -
Rode a GSXR for the first time back in the late 80's, it went like $@#_ off a shovel. Buddies got an 1100, nice bike.

Geopolitical history with an emphasis on the 20 century

@NewbieCanuckFan It had been the dream of " western" powers since the crusades to sail up the dardenelles, land, invade and conquer Constantinople/ Istanbul. You are correct in stating that Churchill fronted that particular British campaign. The fact of the matter is the British didn't trust the " wild colonials" from Aus in Europe so they sent us to the middle east/ Cairo where some of them did run amok, rioting, including the battle of Wazzir. Then they were sent to Gallipoli where the officers ordered them to charge into machine gun fire and they were slaughtered. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk who organised the resistance later went on to be the driving force in the creation of the Turkish state. Give Churchill his due after the failure of that campaign and being forced out of the Admiralty he served on the front lines on the western Front. He often went into no- mans land at night on patrol. One of his quotes from that campaign was after watching others duck as a bullet went overhead he would state " It's no damn use ducking, the bullet has gone a long way past you now." -

Always had some kind of Motorcycle. ATM I have a Triumph Street triple/ roadie and a Kawasaki 450 dirtbike. Also have a Honda 50 for my son. My buddies all ride Harley's, I used to own one years ago. I am thinking of getting an XR however my dad was a pom and he road bikes, I kinda like keeping the tradition going of having a British bike. He used to have a Vincent HRD when he still lived in England, I wish he had brought that with him to Aus instead of selling it and bringing a BSA with him.

She had one helluva innings. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-04-25/worlds-oldest-person-119-kane-tanaka-dies-japan/101014636 Lived through 2 world wars, the great depression. -
My mum and dad worked in the aircraft industry back in the 50's, 60's and early 70's in dads case. They bought a 10 block here outside of Melbourne in the late fifties because they wanted to grow flowers, they were the first to grow proteas for cut flower production. When I asked mum about why they did this apart from loving working the land/ growing flowers, mum stated flowers sold even in the great depression here in Aus. If people had money to spare they would buy food or flowers. Fast forward to since I took over the farm, I was talking about this with my wholesaler and we discussed the fact that even in the minor recession and then the GFC, flower growers around here made decent money and in some cases paid off their farms. Then Covid came along, the market crashed for a couple of weeks, then picked up to the point I was and still am getting better money for my product than I was before Covid hit. That was even when weddings and funerals weren't allowed. Interestingly the first real boom/ bust cycle in modern terms was Tulip mania in Holland in the 17th century. It started in 1634 and crashed in 1637. At its peak the average price of a single flower was greater than the income of a skilled worker and cost more than some houses.

It's Anzac Day on Monday here in Aus. The day we honour our vets. I hate that our young men were conscripted to fight in an unjust war, Vietnam, however it wasn't their fault and like all our vets they were promised the world betrayed and literally spat on when they came home. This is song is for them
