  1. I posted up this song a while back Dave Brock the founding member of Hawkind then Hawklords is coming up on 81 years young and still rocking. All their albums are fantastic however if I had to choose one it would be Quark Strangeness and Charm
  2. Could the end be in sight ? https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/northwestern-u-nasal-spray-could-protect-people-from-all-covid-variants/
  3. Some more really cool stuff about the James Webb telescope. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-61086170#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=16502556393443&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.com%2Fnews%2Fscience-environment-61086170
  4. Hey Brother , I mean that you are my brother. Stay strong. Logic and reason will see you through.
  5. I don't know if I have informed you about this article. Sue studied end of life experiences with Dr Peter Fenwick. https://suebrayne.co.uk/2011/03/28/professor-brian-cox-god-and-the-universe/ I feel this offers some logical thoughts on life/ death.
  6. There is no scientific evidence that proves that we are. As I stated, there are very few things we are absolutely certain of. I have an open mind. I believe in evidence. I used to believe that if something could be mathematically proven to be a fact, then a fact it is. However as we gain more evidence what we thought we knew, indeed might not be factual. The world of physics has been shaken a bit in the last few decades
  7. There were historical figures in texts that predated the second testament by more than 3000 years in one case, whose stories contained many similar elements, virgin birth, resurrection, son of a god etc. It is up to each of us to decide what is truth, what is fiction and what is allegoric.
  8. What is spirituality ? There is the dictionary definition and then there are several philosophical meanings. I would define it as How does one find meaning. How do I feel connected. How should I live. As for Evil the dictionary meaning is something profoundly immoral and wicked. There have been times in human history both on a personal level, and a societal level where human beings have had to confront something/ someone who is profoundly immoral/ wicked. The chemical elements that make up our physical bodies come from stars that went supernova, releasing them. Who knows if they will be reconstituted or not ? Nick Bostrom- University of Oxford wrote a seminal paper on the simulation argument Make of it what you will.
  9. Cuasation not time ? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-04-17/time-might-not-exist/100993982
  10. Great post. There are not many things we are absolutely certain of. A big chunk of them are the table of periodic elements. Check the science thread out. Theories we thought of as facts are now being thrown into doubt.
  11. You know me brother. Can't help myself. Just like back when I was a kid, I knew I was gonna get a beating from the priest before I brought up Darwin's Origins of Species in religion class, when for the umpteenth time they kept telling me about Adam and Eve. I would still bring it up and I always got a beating.
  12. I believe that the only question I answered that did not stay within the OP's parameters was Question B. I want to him/ her to realise that the possibility exists that Jesus is an allegoric figure such as the other figures I mentioned.
  13. A. No B. Jesus is an allegoric figure that was based on other allegoric figures that came before him, Horus, Mithra, Attis and Krishna to name a few of the better known. I suggest you do some research on those allegoric figures to gain an insight as to why sone human beings need guidance, and a belief system that they feel gives life purpose. C. We don't. D. There is no evidence of an afterlife. E. The only thing we know for a fact, is that when our body dies, our physical life ends. F. Put this question into context with other faith based beliefs our species has indulged in, and you will have some insight into the answer you are seeking. One shouldn't assume anything. You don't make good decisions on assumptions.
  14. Ticking away the moments that make up the dull days Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain You are young and time is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find, that ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up to the sun buts it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Roger Waters
  15. So after murdering those he is meant to love, protect and keep safe at all costs, he doesn't even follow his convictions and kill himself. Freakin scumbag. These sort of stories really hurt me. I have fought so hard to be with my son.
  16. Thanks for posting. Links to articles on that page contained this article which I find out extremely interesting. https://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/rock-found-in-quebec-could-hold-answers-to-early-life-on-earth-1.5861036 As the article states this also has implications for extra terrestrial life.
  17. I'm in. Got my son for school holiday time mid to late next week my time, might not be quite as active as usual.
  18. When I have to take my bi- annual bowel cancer test, they send us a kit. I have to $@## in my back yard, poke doowhacker in it and send it of. I know, too much info however you're getting it.
  19. And we go even further back. https://scitechdaily.com/scientists-have-spotted-the-farthest-galaxy-ever-it-may-be-home-to-the-oldest-stars-in-the-universe/
