  1. I’d say his trajectory/play is similar to that of JT Compher.
  2. Miller for JK, Morrow, and a 1st….swear I’ve heard that somewhere before. JK is signed for 7 more seasons so how would he price himself out of their current situation?
  3. Oh boy…nothing like benching your highly paid franchise players and deliberately crapping the bed in the hope of winning a draft lottery. Because we all know the success the Canucks have had in the past. Im thinking you better be prepared for the Canucks to be a bubble team next year as with the new structure and having Mikheyev and a healed Demko they will be in it.
  4. God forbid a coach expects his million dollar star athletes to play more than 20 minutes a game.
  5. Hardy Haman-Aktell, 24yrs, 6’4”, 220lbs, RHD with 36pts in 51games in the SHL seemed a bit more intriguing to me than Pulli.
  6. Wonder if there is any interest in Hardy Haman-Aktell (6’3”, 220lbs, RHD) or Valtteri Pulli (6’5, 210lbs, LHD). Haman-Aktell is a bit more offensively minded but has physicality whereas Pulli is more of a traditional defensive defender.
  7. Who knows, maybe a couple more weeks will revert back to his career 0.45.
  8. Hughes doesn’t have to say it…he could say the team is nowhere near competing…what are they going to do, trade him??
  9. I disagree. If, and thats a big if, they could offload two of OEL, Myers, and Boeser and replace them with a Gavrikov and Graves and add a bonafide 3c, like Compher, I think the team would be very competitive...maybe not championship but very competitive.
  10. Who? Once again, you're speculating. What did Jones, Ristolainen, and Romanov go for at the draft?
  11. Chychrun is a defenceman with an established history...of being injured. In addition, he is a LHD, which is exactly what the Canucks don't need.
  12. Your point #1 is pure speculation. It sound as though Hronek wasn't being actively shopped and the trade caught a few off-guard. If it was a bidding war for a 25'ish RHD with good offensive instincts who had improved his defensive play this year there is no telling what he may have fetched.
  13. Couple of intriguing European d prospects that could be had: -Valterri Pulli, 6'5", 21yo, 210lbs, LHD, 3g, 14a in 50gp in the SM-Liiga -Hardy Haman-Aktell, 24yo, 6'3", 220lbs, RHD, 9g, 24a in 48gp in the SweHL
  14. All valid points you make. Hopefully Allvin has a few more shrewd moves to shed some salary and add some actual defence.
  15. Your last point gives me further reason to support he was given full autonomy. What cash conscious/meddling owner would allow a GM to fire a coach and replace him midseason, thereby putting 3 head coaches on payroll? I'm sure the Aquilini group has some level of input over management/structure hirings, but when it comes to the actual players and on-ice product, I'd certainly hope they have autonomy.
  16. I agree with you but maybe the Canucks wanted someone who could fill in at 2C (Poehling, Kotkaniemi, etc) for the balance of this year until they see if 1) comes to fruition and, if not, explore 2) and use that trade asset to play 3C.
  17. Mighty noble of you to stand up for Alf, I can respect that. Like I've said in previous posts, Rutherford had absolutely no need to take this job; he has won championships, he has built teams, and he's fairly advanced in age. He said during his introductory press conference that he would not have taken the position if he wasn't given full autonomy over all personnel decisions and I believe him when he said that. I'm absolutely fine with a full rebuild as much as I'm fine with the new regime being given a chance to execute their plan. It may be similar to Benning's plan but, to me, it looks like they are being smarter about it.
  18. Miller has a 52.9% faceoff percentage, which is the best on the Canucks so at least he's doing 1 part of the job well. I will agree, however, that the contract is a tad long but that is what was needed to secure his services.
  19. With the Horvat trade I think they showed they want to look towards the present (Beauviller) and the future (Raty & 1st), without taking a huge leap back. It might backfire, it might not.
  20. Can't blame the Canucks for asking for a centre back as without Miller their depth would be Pettersson - Dries - Raty - Aman...and thats pretty scary.
  21. Absolutely. It would be crappy to see Petey and Hughes go but I've seen the Canucks play some fairly terrible hockey through the years and stuck with them.
  22. Ok you clearly don't understand the difference between an opinion and speculating. Inferring, a mass amount of times, that ownership is meddling with the decisions of Management isn't an opinion, its pure speculation. I have never claimed my opinion is more valid than Alf's, I simply suggested he lay off the ownership meddling schtick. I'm just waiting for you to ask me to meet in person so we can settle this like real men
  23. Buddy, Ive been a member of this board since 2004 and a season ticket holder for the Canucks for a long time. Quantity does not equal quality. Who do you think you are?
