I just read an article that it was good for the Leafs cause it frees up $125k in cap space to make moves lmao. Yeah I could get use to this lol -

It’s true, my personal bias against the Leafs is showing. What’s irritating is the whole Benning vs. Shanahan thing. Couple things here, the teams did not take the same route. We were still loyal to the Sedins. Call it what you may if they should have said hell to them but they did their best to put together a team while they were still playing. Also the Leafs were never anything like the Canucks before the Leafs so called Shanahan plan. They’ve hurt way way longer then we have and honestly not much separates the 2 teams to this day. I can’t compare the 2 even though people like to. Totally different timelines. For this guy to come out and say we should be striving to be like the Leafs is an absolute joke. I’ll give the Leafs this, they did win the lottery one year so good for them there. There are lots of teams below the Leafs for sure so maybe I blew it outta proportion. -

I thought Roussel was excellent for us his first year and then that brutal injury... I just don’t remember hearing about other teams interests when he was a FA. Not to say he wasn’t sought after but I remember lots of teams having interest in Sutter and Beagle. Both players who are still very good at what they do and extremely under appreciated. I thought Sutter had slowed since his injuries but has seemed to have bounced back over that last year ish since the playoffs I’d say. -

It’s called having fun and being competitive. I don’t envy any other teams. I bleed Canucks but if there was a team I’d strive to be I can tell you right now the Leafs would be at the bottom of my list.- 291 replies

Spezza said he would retire if he was claimed. For that reason and just to put the screw to the leafs I’d pick him up hahaha -

To certain degree he did. Beagle and Sutter were for sure sought after by many teams. Not sure about Roussel -

Cheap depth. Still young. And puts up a lot of points per minutes he plays. actually really surprised to see that. Lot of offence in the AHL as well -
Totally. We had Baertchi, Granlund and Gudbranson protected. Was that the last season of the Sedins? That roster has nothing on it other then Horvat pretty much

Yeah they have like 4 really good second lines is the way I see it. Probably the best defence core in the division. And depending on what day it is one of the best goalies. A very balanced team. Although I can’t tell you who’s gonna make it. I think any of the 4 teams currently in the top 4 could fall out outside maybe Toronto Schedules are getting harder then ours now. Guess we’ll see what happens. One injury to a McDavid for instance and it’s game over

I’m just pumped to not play the Canadiens anymore. We don’t match up well against them. The fact we split the series is a blessing and got much needed points on the other teams. I’m more comfortable playing the Flames and Oilers. Gonna be interesting. Let’s hope for a grand finish. Resiliency is our middle name
