  1. Billy G is slowing building a team and culture there. Letting Judd do his draft thing and waiting for those Parise/Suter buyouts to burn out. When those are off the books look out, they have a long term plan. Looking good thus far.
  2. My question is, do the retentions still count at the draft? The season and playoffs have ended but the draft still technically is a part of the 2022/2023 season which we would still have Bo and as @Mike Vanderhoekhas said possibly Boeser and Myers being retention candidates. So while acquiring another 4th would be good for us, keeping retention slots around the draft would be wise. Like you said college free agents is another avenue. Better to keep our contract limit down so we can pick up a few diamonds in the rough (Jake Livingstone please!) very good points BTF, cheers to that. Will be interesting what we end up doing with our cap space, retention slots and contract limit.
  3. The wild are doing a good job acquiring some picks being a cap bank. We should be doing this with some deals. I think we can only retain two more contracts (we are retaining Bo this year) so we could hopefully get another 4th in a similar deal. Lost season, might as well play bank broker and add some more picks plus the Schenn deal should net us at least a 3rd. Let’s help out those teams for those futures!
  4. No matter who the former GM we are bickering about. I just want our amateur scouting to focus more on RSD. It’s been a black eye for this franchise, no excuses not to be drafting them. Yes they aren’t a sexy pick with godly numbers but who gives a dusty puck. We have our elite PMD with Hughes. We need at least two defensive minded right hand D. You overpay in free agency, you give up so many assets in trade. We need to draft and develop an army of D so we can be a more balanced roster on the big club and in the system. It takes time to have those prospects develop so we really have to get going here before we waste Petey and Hughes prime seasons. This is all that matters is fixing the D. Something that the previous regimes have neglected. I will say that MG found Tanev as a college FA and JB drafted Forsling and Hughes. Sadly we need more then that. What do we want? D! When do we want it?! Yesterday!
  5. That’s just it, sure we had above average goal tending last year and poor PK last year but this season we have poor goal tending and PK. But the constant has been horrible, personal and structural Defense. JR said in his closing press conference last year how Demko’s play masked a lot of our problems. But there in itself is a problem because like you said it’s not sustainable for long term success. The constant for the last three years since the bubble has been the neglectful job the two managements have done to improve the defense. Losing Tanev (top pair RSD), Edler (2nd pair LHD) Stetcher (2nd pair RSD) Schmidt’s (borderline 1st or 2nd pair RSD) Fantenberg (Bottom LHD) and we didn’t upgrade on them all especially on the right side. Sure OEL was Edler’s replacement and Bear/Schenn are technically Tanev and Schmidt’s replacements but those aren’t moving the needle for this team. So while we have known this has been a problem for the last two and a half seasons. It’s still an ongoing problem. Until we fix our blueline we will have a poor PK and Goaltending because Defense is what is going to help fix those issues. People forget how solid Tanev and Elder were on the PK for years. It’s no coincidence that our PK went downhill when they left the club. To be putting it all on the goaltending/PK (not you but other people) is not where we need to put the blame and fix the issue. We all saw how Demko got injured this season in that Florida Panthers game. Our D broke/betrayed him. This team needs upgrades on the backend in our system and on the big club. Until that is addressed we will have a crappy PK and shaky goaltending that doesn’t have much confidence to stop pucks because they don’t trust the D in front of them. Listen to Kevin Woodley on Wednesday’s at 4:30PM on SN650. He has a great analysis on how the goalies need to have trust in the defense. Without the trust, goalies are going to cheat on their positioning. It’s a trickling effect that’s easy to put the blame on the goalie, and that’s just unfair when we have been spoiled since Luongo (Miller, Marky, Demko) with solid goaltending. Sorry for the long post but I find it crazy that people (again not you EP) want to put the blame on forwards, goalies, but not mention the glaring weakest link on Defense.
  6. With that and Pearson, Mik and now OEL (hopefully shut down for the year) injured long term. we should have some cap space to use to take on some bad expiring deals for other teams so we can accumulate picks and prospects. Why the hell not? This season is a third straight write off anyways. Let’s expedite this rebuild and be the junkyard (we are already a tire fire) of bad contracts like AZ has done and get picks and prospects, instead of recklessly spending it in free agency in the summer. Let’s get creative for once. We have apparently a very smart FO so let’s get going here.
  7. Man that Boeser chance gave me 2020 2nd round GM7 vibes of getting robbed against the Knights. So close but not close enough.
  8. Do you still get a game day $3 Big Mac if the game is over before they serve burgers? Asking a friend…
  9. That’s right, the little ball of hate must be getting lots of scraps at the dinner table. Good point. Hard to ignore that one.
  10. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-front-office-investigating-leaks Another article from the false news dailyhive. I’m really sure they are more focused on finding a mole then to fixing the team. Is Adam Laskaris related to Matt Sekeres?
  11. Of course he’s not stepping away for these two reasons: 1. Steve Simmonds is a cancerous media hack who makes up as much crap as Sekeres does here. Even if it was true the guy has zero credibility. Him and the daily hive are trash and can’t be considered news sources unless it’s a source of toilet paper. 2. Jim Rutherford is not stepping down when he and Aqua are on the new banners that are replacing Bo,Boeser and others.
  12. This meme was created on Reddit almost two years ago. Aside from Bear it’s shockingly gotten worse which is hard to do when you are trying to improve the teams defense. I used to laugh at this meme, now it’s just sad that we leave this mess on the blue-line basically the same after TWO YEARS! We aren’t talking about cutting/nibbling around the edges here. We are talking about getting real talented D men playing in our top 4. Hearing Allvin say “building brick by brick” when all I’m imagining is he’s building our blue-line with sticks and straw and the other NHL GM piggies are using actual bricks to build their NHL club house with. While we keep refusing to draft RSD. Go figure.
  13. The tank has left the building TANK YOU Jersey with your Ref inspired Jersey’s
  14. No whistles in OT. Missed on Petey and now Miller.
  15. Jet black aggressive Jim. If this is a late farewell gift from JB I think we all will be happy with a 7th round pick who’s looking good. If he signs then that’s a great find from JimmyB
  16. I hope we can lock this kid up. Pretty awesome pick for a 7th rounder. Thank you Jim!
  17. That Rags/Flames game is spicy. Always love the good old legal hit. If your head is down that’s on you, I feel bad for the guys who have to fight after a CLEAN hit. Never used to be this way. Again keep your head up kid, admiring your pass will have you on your ass.
