  1. Based on what JR has done his entire career. He is the wheeler, dealer. Lots of people though he lost his touch, as he did nothing for many months. Now it is all coming fast and furious. I'm expecting more deals even by Friday afternoon. If not, it's gonna be a busy summer...
  2. Hang in there my friend, I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. I've been around since the 80's myself. I think I have seen it all too. I also want to see us win the cup before I die. Petey and Hughes give me hope that we can do it in the next 2-3 years. When was the last time we had 2 legit superstars on the team at the same time at forward and at defence? I would say never. Even in the Pavel years we never had a Dman like Hughes. Not in the Naslund years, not in the Sedin years. JR/PA still have alot of work to do. Let's see what else they have coming...
  3. THIS. Some people think those two picks will turn into Petey and Hughes. What if they turn into Juolevi and Lind? Then what? The people who want to rebuild don't understand this. If those picks don't turn out then we wasted the prime years of two of the greatest Canuck players of all time...
  4. We aren't done yet. That player is coming. Have patience my friend, this is not the end of the wheeling and dealing. It has just begun really. The entire defence will be ripped apart and rebuilt. Hughes and Hronek are the central pieces only...
  5. JR is 74 years old. He was never brought in to do a rebuild. It was always going to be a retool on the fly. Some people got hope of a rebuild when we traded BO for Raty and that 1st round pick, and then the Miller rumours. But I knew all along JR was going to trade the NYI pick for a RHD. I said it many times and I might even look for those posts. Petey and Hughes are gonna be 25 and 24 this year. Demko is gonna be 28. Hronek is gonna be 26. Miller is gonna be 30. They are all in the timeline to win now, or 2-3 years from now. Teams that are rebuilding don't already have their superstar talent. That is why they are rebuilding. If Petey and Hughes weren't around then I would say let's tear this whole thing down. But when you have possibly the greatest Canuck ever just entering his prime and possibly the greatest Canuck defenceman of all time also in that timeline, both playing together at the same time, and you also have a goalie who has shown to be Vezina calibre, you just need to go for it. You can't wait it out and hope and pray that your 25 draft picks pan out. I mean, what happens if they don't? Then you effectively wasted the prime years of two of the greatest players in Canucks history. We can't afford to take that risk. We need to go for it now...
  6. Yeah, I heard him. He said Hronek has improved quite a bit defensively. I could see that. They will probably try and lock him and Petey up this summer. 11x8 for Petey and 7x8 for Hronek. If JR can do that then we should be good to go for the next 8 years...
  7. Sure, I agree. But I think Hronek has gotten better each year, not worse. Also, a Detroit guy on 650 said his defensive play has really improved the last 2 years. He's not gonna be Hampus Lindholm defensively, but he will certainly be competent enough on the defensive side while putting up 50-60 points a year. Also, we need to really get two defensive defencemen to compliment Hughes and Hronek. I think those guys are coming soon...
  8. Hronek will get minimum 6.5x8, similar to Faulk and Krug. I think he could push to 7x8 for sure, especially if he waits until next summer 2024 and has an even better year next year...
  9. Collecting draft picks is only one part of the rebuild. We already have Petey, Hughes and Demko. Are Nashville going to get those types of players with all of those picks? It's not like they have a bunch of top 3 picks coming up. David Legwand, Scottie Upshall, Scott Hartnell, Brian Finley, Ryan Suter, Colin Wilson, Seth Jones. Do you know what these players all have in common? They were all of Nashville's top 10 picks in the draft since their inception. Do you see any Elias Pettersson or Quinn Hughes in those players? Good luck to Nashville with all of their picks. I am happy we already got our star franchise players...
  10. They've made the playoffs 5 times in 23 years. I don't think Nashville is really the model franchise of success in the NHL...
  11. So, at 25 you don't think he can maintain this play? Are you thinking he is going to regress at 26 years old? Defencemen usually don't peak until 27-28, so he's not even peaked yet...
  12. 650 had a guy on from Detroit, who has watched every Detroit game, which obviously neither one of us have done. He said Hronek has improved defensively and shut down Stamkos when they played Tampa. He said he is a legit top 4 Dman and the reason they traded him is they were worried about his next contract. He obviously is behind Seider on their depth chart, so they probably didn't want to pay both of them. OEL is not going to be on this team next year. Even Satiar Shah is now saying there is a real possibility they will buy him out. So, we are most likely targeting someone like Olli Maata to play with him next year. Ryan Graves would be my first choice. Hronek will be on the 2nd pairing, no he's not a shutdown Dman, I never said he was, but he will complement a shutdown Dman that we hopefullly will acquire to partner him. The NYI pick won't be a top 5 pick. They will finish at 13th or higher this year and Detroit will get that pick in 2023. Chychrun is a LHD. We were targeting a RHD. If Tocchet really wanted Chychrun I am sure he is the guy we would have traded for...
  13. He's played mostly with Olli Maata who is also a +4. They have been the best pairing on Detroit. I did see him playing with Chiarot as well. Maata is better defensively than Chiarot. If we can get a guy like Ryan Graves to partner Hronek, then I can see him having more free reign to focus on the offensive side. He also has a great shot and one timer, so I can see him together with Hughes on PP1 once in a while...
  14. I've watched several of their games. Hronek is a legit top 4 Dman. He plays both ends of the ice. He's a +8 on a team where most of the players are a minus. Seider is a -8, Larkin a -4, Chiarot a -23. He has the 2nd best +/- on the entire team while averaging over 21 minutes a night which is the 2nd most average minutes on the entire team. He is on pace for over 50 points and is 2nd on the entire team in points. He averages almost 2 hits per game and 1 block per game. He has literally been one of the best, if not, the best Detroit Red Wings player this year. What about you? What makes you think this player sucks?
  15. In 8 years, Benning gave us Tyler Myers, Noah Juulsen, Erik Gudbranson and Luke Schenn. Imagine trying to be a competitive team when your GM gives you these RHD to work with for almost an entire decade? Plus, on top of that he let Chris Tanev walk for free. Hronek is already the best RHD we've had since Bieksa. We are trending upwards in the RHD department and it's not even summer yet...
  16. Maybe. I don't disagree. But they saw an opportunity and took it. That's how things work. We will see if it was the right move or not. Also, I believe more is coming, alot more. So, we can't judge this move on its own until we see what else is coming...
  17. JR/PA are weaponizing their draft picks. This is what you said you can do with picks. So that is exactly what they are doing. They preferred to get Hronek now rather than draft Reinbacher and wait 5 years for him when Petey is 30 years old. Hronek is only 1 year older than Petey, so he fits the timeline perfectly...
