  1. Korczak and Foote intrigue me. Not sure what Vegas would want. Don't think they can fit Boeser under the cap. Luke Schenn for Callan Foote I think may be on the table. We will see... Fabbro might be interesting as well as he is a local boy. If we could get Fabbro and Jeannot out of Nashville, I would do it...
  2. If Allvin can trade Boeser without retention and actually get an asset in return, he should win the GM of the year award...
  3. Fun fact: Linus Ullmark - 6th round pick, 163rd overall in the 2012 draft Arturs Silovs - 6th round pick, 156th overall in the 2019 draft
  4. I am sure Demko is available for the right price. Silovs should be fully ready to start by 2024-2025 season, so we only need a stop gap for a year and then a solid backup afterwards. If we can get a RHD from LA plus a first-round pick for Demko and we take Petersen back to be the stop gap for a year and then a backup the year after, then I would probably pull the trigger...
  5. Arturs Silovs against the best team in the NHL: GAA - 2.03 SV% - .941
  6. Rick Dhaliwal · @DhaliwalSports 25th Feb 2023 from TwitLonger Thoughts on Vitaly Kravtsov The Canucks have been after 23 year old F Vital Kravtsov for over a year. He falls into that age category that GM Patrik Allvin and President Jim Rutherford have been looking for, players under 25. Today the Canucks finally got Kravtsov after giving up F William Lockwood and a 2026 7th rounder. The Canucks and Rangers have been talking about Kravtsov for around 4 weeks, the original ask was a mid-1st round pick. On Thursday when Kravtsov was pulled out of the Rangers lineup for trade reasons, the Canucks were not close to landing him. In fact Kravtsov agent Dan Milstein was told by the Canucks on Thursday and Friday that the price was too high, sources say the Rangers asked for Nils Hoglander and Vancouver said no. Everything changed today as the Rangers are trying hard to land Patrick Kane and lowered the demand. At this time of year, things change daily and pressure points change as well. Some good work by Alvin to out-wait the Rangers and other teams as well to get a player he has coveted for a while. Milstein says Kravtsov will join the Canucks in Dallas tomorrow.
  7. Meh, these goalie goals don’t impress me at all. If they really want to impress me then have one of these goalies score while the other goalie is still in the net. Has that ever happened before? THAT would impress me…
  8. Lias Anderson is gone. Now Kravtsov. Kakko and Lafreniere on the 3rd line. That’s 4 top 10 picks in the last 5 years that are either gone or playing on the 3rd line. Doesn’t seem like the Rangers can develop their high end picks very well. Either that or they suck at drafting…
  9. Lockwood was sent to the AHL. I doubt he ever sees a game with the Rangers this year. He will be a UFA in the summer so probably will move on to another team that may take a chance on him…
  10. NYR fans were thinking they were going to get a lot more than Lockwood and a 7th. Also, trading a pending UFA versus trading a pending RFA are two different things. Lockwood can walk for free in the summer, while the Canucks can spend the entire summer, training camp and pre-season to try and rehabilitate Kravtsov’s career. Hey, we are just having a discussion. You make some good points. Bottom line is we got a former 9th overall pick for almost nothing and now we can at least try and get him back to the level he was supposed to be at when he was first drafted…
  11. He is an NHL player. Not sure why he hasn’t been given more of a chance. He is steady eddy. Not flashy or noticeable for the wrong reasons. A good 3rd pairing guy IMO…
  12. Sure,I get exactly what you are saying. My point is nobody forced Benning to trade a 2nd round pick for Linden Vey. Vey was a 4th round pick and hadn’t scored a goal yet at the NHL level. He obviously wasn’t worth a 2nd round pick. Benning overpaid for Vey as he did with a lot of his trades. His free agent signings were even worse. Kravtsov is a low risk flyer but has more potential than Linden Vey ever did. Much better pedigree. I understand exactly what Benning was up to. I even defended him many times for years on this board. At the end of the day, he was a good drafter, not a great one. But he was absolutely horrific in making trades and signing free agents along with managing the cap.
  13. Allvin just picked up a 9th overall pick from 2018 for a 7th rounder. So, we don't know what Benning could have done. He also could have targeted other players. It's not like Vey and Baertschi were the only games in town. Yes, I'm listing off Benning's mistakes. What else am I supposed to do? You are saying it was Gillis's fault that Benning couldn't succeed because he left him with nothing. Like I said, Gillis did leave him with nothing, but nobody forced Benning to make the moves he did. Another more competent GM may have made other different moves that could have taken this franchise into a different and better direction.
  14. Silovs, Klimovich, Jurmo, Johansson, Karlsson as well. I think Silovs, Klimovich and Jurmo will all be in the NHL within 2 years. And Raty too...
  15. Benning wasn't forced to give up 2nd round picks for prospects. He could have moved out lower picks like Allvin just did today. When you move out higher picks you take away the ability to get a quality NHL'er who can play in the NHL. Benning wasn't forced to do anything. Nobody forced him to sign Eriksson to a massive contract, sign Myers, trade for OEL. Benning was responsible for all of those blunders. Sure, Gillis didn't leave him with a whole lot, but that doesn't excuse Benning for screwing up most of his trades and free agent signings and screwing up our cap...
