  1. Petey is our modern day Bure. Appreciate him while you can. He won't be around forever, and when he is gone you will wish you appreciated him more. This happened to me when Bure was traded. I was depressed for a long time...
  2. Buffalo and Detroit have 5 games in hand. I think they get the last 2 playoff spots. Pittsburgh and Washington are just about done and NYI are getting close with Barzal out. Florida probably done as well unless they make a major move...
  3. The Bruins shot their load. Unless they want to trade Lysell or future 1st round picks I don’t see them doing anything else. At some point you go all in, but there is only so much you can do before you disrupt the chemistry of the team.
  4. According to the Bruins reporter on 650 the Bruins are done…
  5. Selke trophy race update (January 30, 2023): https://thehockeywriters.com/2022-23-selke-trophy-tracker/ 5. Jordan Staal 4. Mitch Marner 3. Elias Pettersson 2. Nico Hischier 1. Patrice Bergeron The case surrounding Elias Pettersson is complicated. Based on his overall play, he deserves to be in the Selke Trophy race, but because the Vancouver Canucks are virtually eliminated from the playoffs, some voters may use that factor against him. Regardless of team results, it is hard to argue that the former 2017 fifth-overall pick hasn’t developed into one of the elite two-way centers in the game. To properly break down Pettersson’s play, his 2.68 XGA/60 is the best metric to use. The reason is that when he is on the ice, the Canucks have a team save percentage of 89.43%, which is a major factor as to why his GA/60 is currently at 3.24. With Rick Tocchet now behind the bench in Vancouver and a more defensively-minded system being put into place, it should highlight just how strong he is in his own zone.
  6. Lady Byng trophy competition: Elias Pettersson - 75 points 6 PIM Jack Hughes - 72 points 4 PIM Brayden Point - 65 points 7 PIM
  7. Total points as a 17 year old: Connor McDavid - 120 points in 47 games (2.55 PPG) Connor Bedard - 110 points in 43 games (2.56 PPG) Sidney Crosby - 168 points in 62 games (2.71 PPG) Mario Lemieux - 184 points in 66 games (2.79 PPG) 16 years old: Wayne Gretzky - 182 points in 63 games (2.89 PPG)
  8. Petey’s next contract is going to start with the number 12…
  9. I hope Bedard likes to play golf. Lots of nice courses in Arizona…
  10. So if we finish 6th or below we will get one of Michkov, Benson or Smith. I’d be happy with any one of those guys. The draft is 6 guys deep for high end talent. Benson could be a 1C as well as Smith.
  11. We’ve had the 2nd overall pick twice and got bumped to 5 both times. So I’m not too confident we will get a top 3 pick even if we finish 2nd last. Also, we have no hope to finish last or second last. Anaheim and Columbus are worse than us, even if we don’t play Petey. Our best hope is to finish 3rd last. Which means we will get the 5 pick as per our luck, so no shot at Carlsson either.
  12. So play our NHL players and not the AHL guys. Isn’t it usually the other way around?
  13. The only way to tank properly is to sit Petey in the press box. Pretty hard to tank every night when you have a top 5-6 player in the NHL playing on the team.
  14. Gretzky got at least 5 points in 96 games of his career. That’s like over one full season. McDavid has done it like 7 times. Think about that. The Gretzky era was batsh*t crazy…
  15. If we were meant to win the lottery, we will win it with either the 2nd pick or the 8th pick. I truly believe that. Not every last place team has won the lottery. I think the Rangers won it finishing 5th last. There is still hope.
  16. Wow, you even missed the Sakic and Foppa years. Those were awesome. Foppa is probably my second favourite player of all time. Those Colorado and Detroit games were epic. I guess you missed the 1994 Cup final as well. Oh boy, what a ride that was. I remember there were some dudes who actually drove a car dressed up in all Canucks colours all the way to New York. It was batsh*t crazy. This city was absolute bonkers for two months. It was incredible. Better than 2011 IMO. I’ll never forget that year. The summer sucked though as everyone was depressed. I’m just waiting for Petey to lead us to another wild ride. I really hope it happens.
