  1. That's what I thought. So the guy who wrote the article is out to lunch then...
  2. How exactly are they allowed to re-structure his contract? I've never heard of that before in the NHL. Are they implying Boeser can agree to change the terms of the existing contract? If so, wow. If he really wants to go back home maybe he will agree to that.
  3. No, of course not. Thankfully, stawns isn't a GM and Benning isn't around anymore...
  4. I just ran it again 20 times. I got the exact same result as the first time. 1st pick once and 2nd pick twice for Vancouver. Like I said, total crapshoot.
  5. The reason I used Chicago is I wanted to see how often they got jumped. I didn’t keep track of that the first time but I ran the simulator again. Out of 20 tries, they got jumped 12 times. 5 times they were pushed to 5th spot. Remember the Juolevi draft and the Petey draft? We finished 2nd last both times. We ended up with the 5th pick both times. We got lucky with the Petey pick which basically saved this franchise. However, the Juolevi pick was a complete disaster. The 2nd pick that year would have been Laine or PLD.
  6. So I finally played around with the NHL lottery draft simulator. It basically told me what I already knew. It’s a crapshoot and whether you finish 2nd or 6th from the bottom the odds of getting the 1st or 2nd pick aren’t much different. The only way to seriously increase your odds is to finish dead last. Here is the deal. I tried the lottery 20 times for 4 separate teams. The Canucks who are 6th, Chicago who are 3rd, Columbus who are 2nd and Anaheim who are 1st. These are the results from 20 tries. Vancouver - 1st place once, 2nd place twice Chicago - 1st place twice, 2nd place twice Columbus - 1st place once, 2nd place once Anaheim - 1st place 4 times, 2nd place 5 times So as you can see, there wasn’t much of a difference between Vancouver, Chicago and Columbus. As a matter of fact, Vancouver landed in the 1st or 2nd spot one extra time than Columbus. However, there was a huge difference between Vancouver/Chicago/Columbus and Anaheim. Bottom line. Unless we finish dead last the chances of getting Bedard or even Fantilli aren’t much different whether you are 2nd last or 6th.
  7. According to Elliotte Freidman, there are several teams after Schenn. He thinks a 3rd round pick was the offer last week but since then the offers have increased due to multiple teams being involved. Pretty sure we will get a 2nd for Schenn, or a 3rd round pick plus a prospect that JR/PA like.
  8. Arizona looks to be a good dumping ground for us over the next 2-3 years. They need $30 million just to get to the cap floor in 2024-2025. So we can use them to dump our LTIR contracts. Myers is the best option for us to dump for next year. But Tanner Pearson could also work if he can’t come back and is on LTIR next season. Tucker Poolman is another for the year after. What about if we were to dump them all 3 of those contracts which is almost $12 million and take a contract back? Myers, Pearson and Poolman would be $12 million in cap space but only cost Arizona $1 million in total salary provided both Pearson and Poolman’s contracts are fully insured and we pay out Myers bonus. I’m sure Arizona would love to get out of some long term deals they have. Lawson Crouse would be the guy I would target. Does Arizona want to pay Crouse $4.3 million for the next 4 years? Something to think about.
  9. The fact that Arizona is scrambling to get to the cap floor means that Benning probably could have had them retain more money in the OEL deal. Oh well... If Arizona is not on Myers 10 team no trade list, then we should be able to trade him to Arizona in the summer for a small fee, maybe a 5th or 6th round pick. Arizona still needs almost $10 million to reach the cap floor for next year, so Myers would chop over half of that, and they can just fill the rest of their roster with ELC contracts.
  10. Nikita Tryamkin (plays both sides), Callan Foote, Andrew Peeke, Vincent Iorio, Ryan Mast, Dante Fabbro, Helge Grans...
  11. I think everyone has missed the fact that we called up a defenceman, which means a Schenn trade is imminent...
  12. He's Polish so I don't think Aquilini would be interested. Maybe he has Italian grandparents?
  13. I doubt we would get Lysell just for taking on Smith's contract. Mast is a 6th round pick and a 6'4" RHD. I'd take a flyer on him...
  14. If they trade Gavrikov without taking back Smith I believe it takes them out of LTIR. I’m assuming that is advantageous for them to not be running on LTIR money. To take back Smith they probably want another pick so Boston is probably shopping Smith around to see if anyone wants him for less.
  15. Yes, and also being out of the lineup helps the tank. So the Canucks make themselves look really good here from a PR perspective plus they are secretly helping with the stealth tank. Win win for both sides.
  16. Boston must be giving up their 2023 1st plus their 3rd round pick for Gavrikov. They won't have anything left to get rid of Smith. I'd trade for Ryan Mast in order to take Craig Smith off their hands.
  17. With Mark Stone out for the year and maybe alot longer, he probably goes on LTIR next season to start the year at least. So they should have room for Boeser. He would directly replace Stone in the lineup as a RW. To Vegas: Brock Boeser ($1 million retention) Luke Schenn To Vancouver: Kaedan Korczak 2023 3rd round pick Boeser replaces Stone in the lineup and Schenn gives them nice depth on defence. We get Vegas's best prospect and a 3rd round pick. Korczak is a RHD , played in Kelowna for several years and could be a long-term partner for Hughes... Defensive Game Korczak’s calling card is his defensive game. His strong skating ability leads to outstanding gap control. He is very difficult to beat in one-on-one defensive situations whether that be on the rush or containing his man on the cycle. Korczak is willing to play physical, separating his man from the puck with a big hit, battling in the corners for loose pucks, and clearing the front of the net. He is also very good positionally and uses his big frame and his long stick to block shots and cut down passing lanes. He must continue to get stronger and add muscle to that frame to play this style at the NHL level. Projection and Comparison Korczak projects as a top-four defender who will play against the other team’s best players and kill penalties. He would be a great partner for an offensive-minded number one defenceman on a team’s top pair. A couple of more years in junior adding muscle to his frame and continuing to develop his offensive game would be very good for his development. If he can continue to grow that offensive game, to the point where he can bring some offence at the NHL level, he could be a huge steal for the team that drafts him. Korczak’s game is reminiscent of Josh Manson. This is a stylistic comparison only though and not one based on skill and ability. https://lastwordonsports.com/hockey/2019/05/19/kaedan-korczak-scouting-report/
  18. If St. Louis gets Meier and takes him off the market, there could be a greater demand for Boeser from actual playoff teams. Meier to St. Louis makes sense as they are not rebuilding and need more younger stars closer to Kyrou and Thomas.
  19. Your prediction of a buyout never came true, so you were only 90% right. The rest is pretty accurate...
