  1. That chart shows Horvat progressing from 52 points in year 4 to 61 points in year 6 of his career. Petey, on the other hand, is progressing from 68 points in year 4 to over 100 points in year 5 of his career. Not to mention he will get some Selke votes as well. One progressed at a marginal rate through his first 6 years of his career, the other became a franchise centre through his first 5 years of his career. Kinda a big difference if you ask me.
  2. We don't know that for sure. Not sure how you can jump on this after only 6 games. Boudreau didn't have a defensive structure. Guys were all over the place on the ice. His metrics may be okay but it doesn't mean he was playing any better than he is now. Not every player will adapt under Tocchet. Kuzmenko might be one of those guys. But again, he is a rookie and has not experienced this type of defensive responsibility before. Also, I am fairly certain that they are showcasing Boeser, so he is purposely playing him over Kuzmenko, especially on the PP. Why take Kuzmenko off of the PP, you don't need to be playing defence when you are on the PP. I could be wrong, so we will see if Boeser actually gets traded or not...
  3. I'm pretty sure they are working on Kuzmenko and his defensive game. Tocchet has barely had any practice time with these guys. Give Tocchet an entire summer, training camp and preseason with Kuzmenko and then we can see what happens. Kuzmenko spent the entire year playing pond hockey with no defensive structure. As a rookie who's never played in the NHL, it's gonna take him some time to adjust to playing a 200' game.
  4. A bit reactionary based off of 6 games. Also, Kuzmenko is still a rookie in the NHL. I think I would wait until next season before I lay judgement on Kuzmenko...
  5. Elias Pettersson has 63 points in 50 games. He is on pace for 103 points. Last year he had 68 points total in 80 games...
  6. Last 13 games: Quinn Hughes 18 points + 12 Cale Makar 16 points 0
  7. Yup, I agree. He took the bigger payday, bigger than I thought he would have gotten, to play on a borderline playoff team. Good for him. Hope he is happy...
  8. Some don't as they are willing to give him up for guys that haven't even played in the NHL yet but have potential. Why trade your greatest defenceman ever who is only 23 and could win the Norris trophy one day for "potential"? Crazy stuff. And yes, he has 18 points in his last 13 games and is a plus 12 in those 13 games. Playing in front of AHL goalies and playing alongside ECHL defencemen. In comparison, the current Norris trophy winner has 16 points in his last 13 games and is even in those 13 games. Hughes > Makar right now...
  9. Those 4 players could all go #1 in other draft years. They are exceptional. Other players in the top 12 are also potential elite top 6 forwards. Zach Benson is a local boy, who could be a dynamic offensive centre. Will Smith as well. Not sure about the guys after the 13th, 14th pick though. Could be like 2003 some say, nobody knows for sure right now...
  10. Seravalli said they offered him just over $56 million in total monies. The last offer reported was 7.5x7, which is $52.5 million. So maybe something close to those numbers.
  11. Shots allowed over last 6 games under Rick Tocchet: Chicago - 14 Seattle - 35 Columbus - 26 New Jersey - 34 New York Rangers - 21 New York Islanders - 29 It's already happening. 4 out of the 6 games we allowed less than 30 shots. And that is with an ECHL defence. It will only get better. Tristan Jarry has been more consistent than Demko. I'd happily trade Demko for a top 4 Dman and then sign Jarry in the summer for free...
  12. 6x6. I'd be happy with that. He is a local boy. Maybe he wants to play in his hometown where his family is...
  13. I wasn't blaming BO directly. I was asking the question if they are changing the way they play now because they added a 50 goal scorer. It may have been an off game, and like it was already mentioned we need to judge them off 10-15 games.
  14. I was also a big BO fan back in the day. I thought he was going to lead us to the promised land one day. Then all hell broke loose with this team and we became a bottom feeder. Petey and Huggy came along and I saw bubble Demko, and then I thought maybe there was hope. But then last year came, and now this year was the straw that broke my back. I knew major changes had to happen. As soon as JR picked Miller over Horvat, I knew Horvat was gonna get traded. They just needed to wait it out for the right deal. The timing worked out well as Horvat did his part by having a career year which allowed us to get a decent return and allowed him to get a $68 million contract. At the end of the day, it worked out well for both sides. So, I am happy for that. What is bothersome to me is the anti-Miller and anti-JR bs that has been permeating throughout CDC over the last few months. At the end of the day, what is done is done and all parties have moved forward. Mistakes were made on both sides. And the media has further fueled the divide and made things even worse. That is the saddest part for me.
  15. Yes, that is why we let in 5 goals. Our forward group looks fine and will only get better. We really need to fix that defence and either get bubble Demko back or trade him and sign Tristan Jarry in the summer...
  16. The difference is the Oilers also have an ECHL defence. The Islanders are one of the better defensive teams in the league who just added a 50-goal scorer. You would think they could score 5 on us and beat us easily. They only let in 4 goals combined in their last 5 games but let in 5 tonight alone off 23 turnovers. Are they trying to play more aggressive offensive hockey with Horvat in their lineup? Seems odd that as soon as he joins their team, they have one of their worst defensive games all year. The Islanders have only allowed more than 5 goals on one other occasion all year long. This was literally their second worst defensive game in the entire season...
  17. Somebody asked him if one of those 4-5 guys was Kuzmenko. Tocchet said yes. He doesn't f*ck around. He tells it the way he sees it...
  18. It's gonna be hard for some of them to let go of BO. I feel for them really. It's like the ex-girlfriend that you always think about...
  19. We literally just beat the Islanders with BO on the other team. How exactly would he have helped us in the retool? It looks like we are retooling just fine without him. Meanwhile, his current team can't even beat us with an AHL goalie in our net...
  20. Yes, I would claim him. We can fit him under the cap this year. We could then trade him with 50% retention prior to the deadline or trade his rights in the summer. Who knows, maybe he could be a Tocchet guy, you never know...
  21. Kuzmenko has 3 points so I didn't add him to the list. Makes sense that Tocchet benched him last game. He has half the points of Boeser...
  22. First 6 games under Rick Tocchet: Elias Pettersson - 9 points Brock Boeser - 8 points Quinn Hughes - 7 points JT Miller - 6 points Conor Garland - 5 points
  23. The Islanders were 11-4 in goal differential in their last 5 games. Tonight they lost 6-5. The Canucks were all over them tonight causing 23 turnovers and making their all star goalie look like an AHL’er.
  24. According to Satiar Shar the Islanders might give us the pick even if it’s top 8 or 9. That’s why the Islanders kept that option. Reason why is they may prefer ti give us a top 8 pick versus giving us a 2024 pick that is not protected at all. They are probably looking at Florida and shitting their pants about risking it.
  25. The Canucks winning ruined the entire media’s narrative for tomorrow. They make have to cancel all of their shows.
