Michkov might go at 3. So we could get Carlsson at 4. Michkov is actually a great talent. Probably just as talented as Bedard. A team like Arizona might just wait around for him. Same with Anaheim who already have their 2 centres. If we finish in 4th spot and if one of Anaheim or Arizona are below us, then we have a shot at Carlsson I think.

Agreed. We can easily flip Beau next year with retention at the deadline. He may even play in our top 6 and get 35-40 points. I think anything we do moving forward will be moves to strengthen the D. Schenn, Demko, maybe Boeser if someone actually wants him, UFA's in the summer. All of those moves will be movers to get 2-3 Dmen at minimum. If there is a God, maybe someone takes Myers off of our hands in the summer after we pay his bonus. If God is even more gracious to us, Boston will trade for OEL...

Miller has been one of our best players under Tocchet. Why the hate still? I do agree on Boeser and Myers. They shouldn't even be in the lineup, or maybe even the NHL, right now. Benching Kuzmenko is part of the stealth tank. Tocchet is getting orders from JR, so no need to panic. We wouldn't want him to score any game winning goals. Having AB and Boeser on the top 2 lines is a much better tank model...

They picked up Trocheck for free as a UFA, which was the money they would have used to re-sign Copp. So theoretically whatever they traded for Copp went to get Trocheck. Trocheck seems to be a better fit for them as he's a pure centre who is one of the better faceoff men in the league. Tarasenko also fits their team better than Miller as he's a pure right wing goal scorer, which is exactly what they need right now on their top line. They had Jimmy Vesey playing on their top line yesterday...

If we can draft one of the 3 centres then we can move Miller to left wing and have a very potent 2nd line. Put Podkolzin up with Petey and Kuzy and move Mikheyev to a more defensive role on the 3rd line, get Raty going as our 3C, and all of a sudden we have a top 9 that can compete with anyone. Kuzmenko Pettersson Podkolzin Miller Fantilli Garland Beauvillier Raty Mikheyev I don't think you can ask for much better than that really. Just gotta get that 2nd overall pick. If we get the 1st overall then you have Bedard instead, which would be even more crazy. After that, we need to spend at least one more year fixing the defence. If there is one guy who is a buyout candidate, my money is on OEL. It would be painful, but I just can't see how we can move forward with him for another 4 years on the 2nd pairing. And you can't play him on your 3rd pairing as he takes up too much of the cap. I watched him tonight. It was painful. I mean he has trouble even skating backwards, never mind trying to defend...

Most likely not alot of people scouted those 2 Russian goalies. Sorokin was the 8th goalie drafted that year and Shesterkin was the 14th goalie drafted. They hung around the KHL for several years prior to coming to the NHL. Getting a Vezina trophy winner in Shesterkin in the 4th round is the reason most teams don't pick a goalie in the 1st round. It's such a hard position to master and most goalies need years to develop before they can make the jump to the NHL. Then you have the opposite and the Islanders take Rick DiPietro 1st overall and he is a bust.

Miller and Podkolzin played really well together last year. Not sure why Bruce buried Podkolzin on the 3rd and 4th lines this year. He also called Garland a 3rd liner and didn't give him many opportunities either. Everyone wants to praise Bruce, but he had his flaws. Seems logical to play Miller with Podkolzin and adding Garland to that line allows Miller to not be the only play driver on that line. Garland has 5 points in 5 games under Tocchet. Not rocket science to figure out that Garland was not used properly under Boudreau. Garland went from being a buyout candidate to a top 6 forward who can score 60+ points in the span of two weeks. Crazy. No wonder our asset management has been horrible these past few years...

The Islanders are technically allowed to trade their 2024 1st round pick. However, if they keep the 2023 pick and the 2024 pick goes to Vancouver, then the team that made the second trade with the Islanders would get moved back and receive the Islanders 2025 1st round pick. So, either way the Canucks situation is not changed...

You can move up a maximum of 10 spots in the lottery. So, the 11th place team can still win the lottery or get the 2nd pick. Not sure why they picked top 12 protected instead of top 11. My thinking is that they have 12 guys that they like in the draft, so they wanted the option to keep the 12th pick if they chose to. They will probably make that assessment prior to the lottery in terms of their scout's feedback...
