  1. I heard 650 as well. The pick is top 12 protected. If the pick is 13th or higher, the Canucks get the pick automatically. If it's 12th or lower the Islanders have the option to keep the pick or give it to Vancouver...
  2. Career wise Horvat is at 53.8% and Trocheck is at 52.4%. They are almost identical after 9 years in the NHL...
  3. The elephant is a heavy animal. When it leaves the room, it relieves alot of stress and pressure from everyone...
  4. Oh yeah, for sure. His shot is worse than his skating. It's completely gone. He is trying to transform himself into a setup man now. It's the only way he'll get a new contract after this one expires...
  5. Vincent Trochek has better numbers than Horvat. I'm pretty sure that Miller and Petey won a few faceoffs against him today...
  6. Imagine people thinking that a guy who can potentially score 100 points and win the Selke trophy couldn’t even learn how to take a faceoff. Miller is also at 63% and is doing just fine at centre where he scored 99 points last year. Living without BO isn’t the disaster some people thought it would be.
  7. The GM for New Jersey watched the game tonight and hung up the phone when Allvin called him regarding Boeser…
  8. 50% in faceoffs without Horvat. That is improvement. 3-3 on the PK as well…
  9. When Petey puts his mind to it he can do anything. The only thing left for him to do is to drop the gloves. Oh Captain, my captain…
  10. Our PK is 5 for 5 during regulation time over the last 2 games so far. I would call that improvement.
  11. He gets paid $855k more if he’s playing for the big club, so he’s probably not complaining too much…
  12. Thanks for posting the analytics on BO, that is very helpful. When BO came out of junior, he was portrayed as being a solid 200' player. He was being compared to Ryan O'Reilly. At 18, that's the player we thought we were getting. Over the years obviously that has changed. He wasn't a great skater coming out of junior, so he spent quite a bit of time improving that area. Not sure what happened to BO, but for whatever reason his hype of being a great 200' player never materialized. He focused more on the offensive end of the ice. Even this year, he spent all summer with Adam Oates to improve his shot. Maybe BO just felt that to get paid in the NHL, you need to score goals so why spend time focusing on the defensive side? I'm just spit balling here, so don't know if that is true or not. As well, we didn't really have great defensive coaches while BO was a Canuck, so he never really had that opportunity to get the proper coaching to work on his defensive game. At the age of almost 28 it's probably too late for BO to become the next Ryan O'Reilly. He is who he is now. Compare that to Petey, who came out this year guns a blazing, not only transforming into a Selke award contender, but also being ALOT more physical as well. He is basically a complete centre at this point other than the faceoffs, which I have no doubt he will get better at. BO wanted to get his money by being a 50-goal scorer. Petey is going to get even more money by being one of the more complete centres in the NHL that every team dreams of having. That's the difference between the two of them.
  13. Sure, players can always improve. I'm not saying that he can't, he's still only 27. But generally speaking, and looking at the totality of his career, Horvat has been great on faceoffs, which is why he takes all of the important draws, but he has been average defensively, according to the metrics. Perhaps he can improve in New York. But my feeling is they brought him there to score goals and play with Barzal, not to be some kind of defensive guru. He won't be getting much PK time there either, so not sure that he will improve much defensively, other than playing in a system where he is forced to play a more defensive role, which most likely will hurt his offensive output. I don't see him being the offensive juggernaut he was this year in Vancouver, as he won't be getting those types of opportunities in New York. Even Barzal has struggled offensively playing in New York. He had only 59 points last year.
