Allvin calls him Antonio, so I think he will be our new token Italian on the team to make Francesco happy...

Bruce Boudreau Receives a Gift From Fan
Elias Pettersson replied to fivethej's topic in Canucks Talk
I'm assuming the number is 15 to signify "IS"... -
Miller was on the trade block but was pulled off because we were shooting for the playoffs. It's hard to say if that was soley an Aquilini decision or jointly with JR. JR wanted Bruce gone in the summer, he didn't even know his contract was extended for one more year. So, he couldn't really be fired. Not sure if that was Aquilini saying I don't want to pay another coach, or JR saying well Bruce almost got us in the playoffs so let's roll with him another year and see what happens. However, since the season has started, IMO JR has now been given full authority to do whatever he needs to do. I think Aquilini is not meddling at all right now, JR most likely gave him an ultimatum. Everything we are seeing now is not what Aquilini would be doing if he wanted to keep this team competitive. We are literally tanking right now. And we traded BO for a top prospect and a pick, not some 25-year-old who was going to come in and try and save the season. Never thought I would see this to be honest. For the first time in awhile, I have hope that we are on the right track to fixing this mess...

Jurmo is a defensive defenceman, he isn't going to rack up the points. Having said that, if you actually look at what his team is doing, he is 4th in points by a defenceman and his -10 is very subjective considering the entire team are minus players and some are as high as -17. Also, the top 2 Dmen on the team are 24 years old, Jurmo is only 20... Elite Prospects - Jukurit

People want to rip JR/PA and want them fired. They literally fixed our entire farm team in just over a year, Aquilini was the one who brought the team to Abbotsford. They got all of their assistants in place, got the coach they wanted as well as two assistants who are borderline hall of famers, they traded the captain and now are looking at some major surgery. People can trash these guys all they want, but at the end of the day they are doing all of the dirty work that Benning refused to do and didn't have the balls to do...

Exactly. That's why Rick Tocchet and Adam Foote are here. No more country club. It's easy to figure out who the softies are. Obviously, they are the ones that are getting traded. As JR already said, they will be making unpopular decisions. We will see how this all pans out, but at least it finally looks like there is a plan. Whether that plan will actually work only time will tell.

[proposal] Boeser to NJ
Elias Pettersson replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I'd do that deal. Get rid of $5 million of Boeser's contract and I like Holtz better than Lekkerimaki... -
So, according to Frank Seravalli, Pat Morris and Lou are already working out a deal. It is going to be in the 8x8 to 8.5x8 range. If that is the case, then thanks God we didn't re-sign Horvat. Imagine paying him between $64-68 million. That's batsh*t crazy. Good luck Lou, you are gonna need it. As well, according to Satiar Shah, NY Islanders have the option to send the pick to Vancouver even if it's below 13. They will just wait until after the lottery to decide. So, it's possible we can get the 9th, 10th or 11th pick in this draft. Lou may just want to give us the pick this year as he may not be around after next year if the Islanders are not a playoff team and also the 2024 pick would be unprotected, so there is the possibility that it's a lottery pick which leaves the door open for the Canucks to win the lottery and get the #1 overall pick. In thinking about this, it may actually be better if Lou defers the pick to next year. This trade could end up similar to the Duchene trade where Colorado got the # 4 overall pick and drafted Bowen Byram...

Are we comparing the same Kesler who won the Selke trophy and was arguably our MVP during our Stanley Cup run to game 7 of the finals? The same Kesler who was in the top 3 in Selke voting for 5 years? The same Kelser who was 8th in the Hart voting? You're comparing that Kesler to Bo Horvat? Kesler wasn't even going to UFA when he was traded, we literally got a better return for a rental...

[Proposal] Demko to BUF, OEL to FLA
Elias Pettersson replied to Qwags's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I like all of them other than Turcotte. If Clarke can learn to play defence he could be dynamic. I think he has the highest ceiling out of all of them. -

Seems like LA might be a landing spot for Demko. Makes sense if he comes back healthy and they want to go on a playoff run. Lots of possibilities with LA in terms of a package. Clarke, Grans, Byfield, Turcotte, Villardi. -
