  1. I just read the article. The headline is not totally accurate: St. Louis-based NHL insider Andy Strickland reported on Friday that Gabriel Landeskog will reportedly be seeking somewhere in the $9-million-plus range if he is unable to come to terms on a new contract with the Avalanche over the next week or so. Strickland added that it shouldn't take $9-$10M per season to keep Landeskog in Colorado as he's willing to take a little less to remain with the only organization he's ever known: "He’s not asking for that. Saying price goes up if he hits the market," he tweeted. He's not asking for $9-10 million to STAY in Colorado...
  2. First Graves. Now most likely Landeskog. Colorado gonna get bullied next year like never before. Feel sorry for McKinnon who took a great team friendly deal. Remember, it's always about the money. You never know when your career will be over. Always take the money, these owners are billionaires and there is no loyalty anymore. If Landeskog can get $9 million like Jeff Skinner then he should go for it.
  3. That's possible although I believe Schmidt prefers the right side. Larsson is one option. I'm sure Benning is looking at several options.
  4. Well Leddy only has a year left on his contract so Detroit probably flips him at the deadline for a 1st rounder to a contender. Schmidt on the other hand has 4 years left on his contract so it would have to be a hockey trade for Benning. I rate Leddy having higher value though. He was a beast for the Islanders.
  5. I'm thinking there are going to be quite a few options over the coming weeks for Benning to fill out his D core. Edler may find that he doesn't have many suitors either. It's not like there will be 20 teams knocking on his door looking to give him $4 million+ or whatever he is looking for.
  6. Honestly Phil I think Eddie thought Benning was going to give him a much better offer. And he got insulted and said screw this I’ll go shop my services around. I have no sources to back this up and I’m not gonna claim I heard this anywhere. It’s just my own personal opinion. I could be wrong. But the way it’s been played out leads me to believe that is what happened.
  7. Maybe because if he doesn’t then it would have been hard for him to go back to the bench. But the fight with Guddy would have been a lot different. Simmonds would have been hanging on for dear life and he doesn’t even look at Edler the rest of the game.
  8. Ray Bourque waited until he was 39 before leaving Boston to go win a Cup in Colorado. It’s not easy leaving the only team you’ve ever played for.
  9. Well it looks like that is what he’s doing now. Why he waited until now only Eddie knows for sure.
  10. Yup. If Gubranson was on the ice Simmonds doesn’t drop the gloves. I think Benning is serious about adding truculence to the team. Letting Edler walk, saying he wants to get bigger on the back end and he wants a 3C with size. Those are telltale signs that BIG changes are coming, pun intended.
  11. He's not getting his $6 million anymore. He stayed with the Canucks because he loves it here and his family is here and he was getting "paid". $5 million for 6 years and then he got $6 million on a shorter deal. At 33 he wasn't getting more than $6 million so why leave when he loves it here? He was waiting for the Canucks offer and Benning probably offered him a short term deal at around $2 million. He probably said to himself, "Hey, for that money I might as well play for a contender". So that's where we are at.
  12. Nah I'm good with the upvotes. I can always lend you some of mine. Seems like you need a few more. So Benning said Edler is simply looking for a new opportunity and nothing to do with the offer he was given? Do you have quotes for that? Taj? If Benning offers Edler 6x6 he is still walking for that new opportunity?
  13. He signed a 6 year $30 million contract back in 2013. At the time that was a good deal for him. That took him to 2019. Benning then gave him $6 million on a 2 year deal. I'm not sure he would have gotten more than $6 million on the open market.
  14. So because Kingston, Florida, Vancouver, Anaheim and Ottawa all sucked while Gudbranson was on the team that means he is garbage and can't help in the playoffs? Aaron Ekblad hasn't won a playoff series in over 7 years since he entered the NHL. Is he garbage as well and not worthy to play on a playoff team?
  15. Pittsburgh is protecting 3rd liners over McCann. Like I said he is either in your top 6 or he is in the press box. Maybe Seattle will take him and play him in their top 6. I'm sure he will get his points. He never struck me as a guy you go to war with. I'd rather have the guys we have now than McCann. Hoglander, Podkolzin, Miller, Boeser. We can fill our top 6 with those guys.
  16. Last year was definitely his best year so far. Pittsburgh not protecting him is a tell all however. Points aren't the only thing teams consider in evaluating a player. I mean they are protecting Tanev over McCann and he only had 16 points last year. Obviously Tanev is a guy they want in the bottom 6. McCann is either in your top 6 or he is in the press box.
  17. He's probably the only guy in the league other than maybe Chara or Lucic where Reaves would think twice about dropping the gloves. And our players would save alot of their hair in the process.
  18. I would still take him today on my 3rd pairing with a a guy like Rathbone. Especially for the playoffs. Wouldn't want McCann on my bottom 6 in the playoffs and he's not a top 6 guy.
