I never linked those two people because of race. So please don’t assume otherwise. Yes I know who Harvey Weinstein is but again he is not a person I used to follow or even cared about. So he wasn’t even on my mind. I watched OJ’s trial from start to finish. Likewise with Cosby. Because I grew up idolizing both of them. I never idolized Robert Richards or Harvey Weinstein. Anyways I think I’ll end it here. I do accept your apology so let’s just move on. Race has no place in this thread. And Racism has no place in this world. That much we can both agree on.

I watch the NFL, so of course I know who OJ is. I regarded him as one of the best running backs of all time. Watched all his highlights when I was young. I don’t follow billionaires so I have no clue who Robert Richards is. I also used to watch Bill Cosby when I was younger and then the Bill Cosby show. He was one of my favourite all time comedians back in the day. So I know them both very well. And both disappointed me very much. So in my mind they are linked together because I know them both very well and they used to be two people that I looked up to. The only logical conclusion that I can come up with is that the first thing that entered your mind was that both people I mentioned are African American. What does that tell YOU? Perhaps you should do more research and ask more questions before you start bringing up a race conversation into a thread where it really has no place.
-
No particular reason other than I hate OJ’s guts. Any particular reason you felt the need to bring up race into the conversation? Was that the first thing that entered your mind, that both people are African American? My thought process was that both those people are scum. That’s why I linked them together. And yes there are lots of scum out there that are white, red, black and blue. Some are even Swedish. Never heard of Robert Richards. Not the type of person I’m really interested in.

Not only did he get out, he went home with his family to celebrate. Cosby and OJ. Can’t wait for both of them to meet their maker.

They saw him every day in practice. I’m sure if they saw something they liked they would have played him ahead of Chatfield. The one game he did play he looked like a deer lost in the headlights. They probably saw enough after that. There are lots of guys that look good in the AHL that can’t transition to the NHL. As DeNiro already said we can find a Rafferty type player every year from the SHL or even the KHL.

4 Young Studs across the NHL
Elias Pettersson replied to PunjabiCanucks's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Calgary was smart enough to trade him when they knew he wasn't going to sign with them. They got Hanifin and Lindholm for Ferland, Hamilton and Fox. Carolina turns around and is forced to trade Fox for 2 second round picks, loses Ferland for nothing and now are on the verge of losing Hamilton for nothing. So they basically traded Hanifin and Lindholm for 2 second round picks. That's gotta be one of the worst trades in recent memory. They didn't need to make that trade. -
26 years old with a total of 3 NHL games on his resume. It might be hard but I’m sure Benning can fill his spot with someone else.

Did Carolina actually trade a Norris Trophy winner for two second round picks? -

Rathbone will be better than Byram. You can quote me on this... -

For what we are lacking he was the best pick out of that whole group for us other than Seider. We are already set at 1C and 2C so no need for Hughes, Dach or Zegras. Podkolzin will be better than Kakko. And we already have Hughes and Rathbone so no need for Byram. The only player you can say we may need more than Podkolzin is Seider. So we will see over the next 3 years who is the better player, Podkolzin or Seider. -
Stamkos will go on LTIR next year and miraculously come back for the first game of the playoffs. Then Kucherov will take his turn the year after. They will rotate like this for the next 3 years until they have won 5 Cups in a row. Then they will start their rebuild.

His hands and feet are massive. You can barely see that dog in his right hand. He will make his wife very happy I am sure. -
Of course. Cernak is a stud. Only a few like him in the NHL. Big strong skating RHD. Perfect age to fit with our core and can partner Hughes for the next decade. Can play 23 minutes a night and be on our first unit PK. He can even drop the gloves. Tampa would never trade him though because he is impossible to replace.

Why would the Canucks want to do long term deals with Petey and Quinn? Do we want to become the Toronto Maple Leafs? It's in both parties best interests to do short term bridge deals at 3 years. We have lots of cap space for that. Their agent is just throwing stuff out there to make the Canucks look weaker. We can easily open up over $6 million in cap space by simply buying out Holtby and Virtanen. Benning has already stated he is open to buyouts.

So basically Benning has two more years to get his winning percentage up to .566 and secure a trip to the Stanley Cup finals. Looking forward to it...

I find that impossible to believe given the fact that they played together for 3 years and the players and their wives/girlfriends get together all the time for parties and events. But what is most odd about that whole rumour is that Vancouver traded Brown to Hartford at the end of 1995, right around when that rumour started. McLean was also traded to Hartford (now Carolina) by Keenan on January 3,1998. Strangely enough, Brown was traded from Carolina to Toronto on January 2, 1998. So Brown was traded away from Vancouver around the time the rumour started floating around and then he was traded out of Carolina the day prior to McLean arriving. To top it all off McLean ended up getting divorced from that wife after he had been traded to Carolina. This doesn't prove Brown slept with McLean's wife but there is sure alot of circumstantial evidence that something may have happened.

I'd keep both and go after a RHD to play with Hughes. If Juolevi can take the next step and we re-sign Edler to a 2 year deal while Juolevi and Rathbone learn the game then I think our left side is fine. If you trade Schmidt or Myers then you need to find a replacement as they are both starters. Are you going to find a better player at a discount in free agency? Do you want to trade assets to replace them? Myers may not have alot of value on the trade front at $6 million and Schmidt is coming off a bad year so we'd be trading low on him. I think Scmhidt will bounce back and I like Myers on the 3rd pairing even though he's expensive. The key is to find a RHD for Hughes at an affordable price. The more I think about it the more I like Jani Hakanpaa. He plays an aggressive game and even beat up Brayden Schenn in a fight so he will drop the gloves if needed. But more importantly he's 6'5" 220 pounds and plays a physical game and is only 29, so still young enough to grow with this team. I think he will be relatively cheap as a UFA. He had 215 hits this year and can kill penalties as well.

He plays for the Leaves. He's already damaged goods...
