  1. I think Benning is referring to the 3rd line for scoring help not the 4th line. Jasek wouldn’t be more than a 4th liner in the NHL. I’d rather have a Trenin as a 4C or someone similar. I forgot to add Lind and Gadjovich to the 4th line. One might get taken by Seattle so we’d have one left over to add to the 4th line. Lind could also play as a 4C If he’s not taken by Seattle. He’s a lot more physical than Jasek and a much better scorer.
  2. Rent is expensive if you want to live downtown. If they are getting paid an AHL salary I highly doubt they’d want to spend all their money on rent and food downtown. If they are going to play a full season in Abbotsford it would be a lot cheaper for them to share accommodation out in Abbotsford. If they get called up and are playing for the Canucks the team usually has a few suites available for players and staff in Aquilini’s building next to Rogers Arena. If they start the year in Vancouver on an NHL salary then that’s when the usually go out and find their own accommodation in the City.
  3. He’s turning 24 and is going to play in Europe. He’s not a prototypical bottom six player. We already have a few guys who want to play that type of role. Highmore, Lockwood, MacEwen. I think we need to find a strong 4C who can play a physical style and in your face type of hard nosed hockey. Yakov Trenin would be perfect.
  4. Luongo was a totally different situation. He was 40 when he retired and never fully recovered from his hip surgery which affected his play, especially in his last year. His SV% and GAA in his last year (2018-2019) were the worst of his entire career. He wasn't going to play another 3 years with a bad hip and deteriorating play on a non playoff team. Weber is fully healthy for the most part just like Perry and Thornton, wants to win a Cup and is playing on a team that at least has a chance to win a Cup before he officially hangs them up.
  5. I doubt he retires at 37 simply because his salary is $1 million. If he's playing 20 minutes a night then why retire? Corey Perry only makes $750,000 and he's still playing. At one point he was making more than Weber. Same with Joe Thornton. These guys aren't playing for the money, they are playing for the love of the game and to win a Cup. Weber is in the same mold. If he can win a couple of Cups with Montreal then his career will be complete. He's already made all his money.
  6. Chara and Lidstrom both were playing 20 minutes a night when they were 40. Giordano is still playing top minutes at 37. Weber is 35. I can see him playing out that whole contract and retiring at 40. Barring injury, he should be able to play in the top 4 for the remainder of his contract.
  7. I think Jones gets traded close to the deadline to a team that will challenge for the Cup. They will use him as a rental. If it’s one of the teams that Jones will actually sign a long term deal with then I can see Columbus getting a good return for him. Otherwise they are pretty much hooped.
  8. Yup. Didn’t Fabian Brunnstrom score a hat trick in his first NHL game and every Canucks fan was upset cause we never signed him? Caulfield looks like he’s gonna be a player but I’d wait until he plays a full NHL season before I would start comparing him to Marchand and Gallagher.
  9. Why are we still talking about OEL? Is Benning currently on the phone with his agent or something?
  10. I thought I saw a "Fire the Sedins" banner flying over Vancouver today. What that you in the cockpit?
  11. Tkachuk was never the player Vancouver should have taken. They needed to take the best defencman that year. His name is Mikhail Sergachev.
  12. Yes it looks like Ferland is done. The players on that list have all been deemed to have career ending injuries and the NHLPA has agreed.
  13. I agree with you on that. I wouldn’t trade the 9OA unless it was a significant piece coming back. In my opinion Cernak is the equivalent of BO. A top pairing shut down Right Handed Dman who can partner with Hughes for the next decade. I’m not even sure Tampa does that deal to be honest. The cost to acquire a top pairing right handed Dman probably starts at a first round pick and then you have to add to that.
  14. So which team is going to offer sheet Petey? Who has the cap space? No Buffalo isn't going to offer sheet anybody and neither is Ottawa...
  15. Those guys outside the rink are actually working full time at the car wash down the block. So this statement isn't totally accurate to be honest...
  16. So Ottawa takes on $9 million in dead salary and trades a top 6 forward and a 3C to move up ONE spot in the draft?
  17. Calm down Tony, we want Green to succeed. If he doesn't then you have my permission to call Vinnie and Frankie to take care of the business...
  18. Depends who that pick is. If it's Podkolzin I would say no. If it's Tyson Jost I would run to the airport and drop Jost off. The draft is a crapshoot. There have been many star players drafted in the top 10 and also alot of duds. Benning traded a first and a third for JT Miller. If Tampa wanted Miller back and offered Cernak I would drive Miller to the airport myself in my Audi. So that means Cernak should be worth a first and a third round pick...
