Monday morning quarterbacks are always great friends. You get to hear them talk about what happened in the game after the fact and all the stupid decisions the coaches and players made during the game. I'm sure your tune would have changed if Toffoli ended up having an average year like he did in 2018 when he only scored 13 goals. Or what about the 2016 and 2018 playoffs where he played 9 games in total and scored zero goals. I am sure you would have been pissed if Benning had signed him to a $4.25 million contract and he only got 9 goals this year (prorated over a full season). But of course Toffoli ate his wheaties all summer and winter long and came out and had his greatest season ever in his career at age 29. I mean it was totally to be expected. Benning should have known this. Too bad Benning sucks at being a Monday morning quarterback. Unfortunately he only plays the game on Sundays. But but Toffoli had 10 points in 10 games last year, Benning should have known it was no fluke and Toffoli was going to have his greatest year ever this year... Looking forward to the 500 new posts about Toffoli in the coming weeks. Meanwhile I am just going to enjoy watching the Habs win the Stanley Cup for Alex Burrows...

McKinnon, now there's a team player..
Elias Pettersson replied to iceman64's topic in General Hockey Discussion
He basically outproduced his current contract in his second year of the deal. Looking back I am sure he had wished he signed a bridge deal. It's a tough call, but looking at how salaries have risen over the years it would have been a safe bet for him to take the bridge deal. -
5000 fans by September? Can it happen
Elias Pettersson replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
According to Dr. Bonnie Henry a vaccine passport will only be needed for international travel... When and how British Columbians might need a COVID-19 vaccine passport | Watch News Videos Online (globalnews.ca) Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says a vaccine passport will not be required to access services and businesses in B.C. 5000 fans by September? Can it happen
Elias Pettersson replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
According to the BC restart plan, by September 7 masks will be optional (personal choice) and restaurants and businesses will be at full capacity. It doesn't say specifically about hockey games (return of normal sports competitions), but I would assume unless we suffer a setback that we should be at full capacity for hockey games by opening night. -

[Rumour] Nolan Patrick requests trade

If Virtanen didn't have his legal issues he would probably have more value than Patrick. If the Police dismiss the case and he's free to play hockey I would definitely do a Virtanen for Patrick deal. -
Name two players on the current Colorado roster who were drafted by Sakic after the first round between 2014-2017? I know of one. Can you name another? Benning has 2 studs in Demko and Rathbone and another from 2019 in Hoglander. He also has 3 up and coming players in Lind, Gadjovich and DiPietro. It's not even close. I'm done with this discussion...

There was a huge backlash when Quinn didn't re-sign Larionov because of the payment needed to be made to the Russian Sports Agency. That was a huge "what if". If Larionov had been re-signed Bure would have had his full time centre for the next several years and things would have been vastly different. Murray Craven was no Larionov. And Adams and Courtnall played wing not centre. If Larionov had still been around after that first year I think the Canucks win the Stanley Cup in 1994. He was the missing link up front on that team. Larionov went to San Jose and turned that team around with Sergei Makarov. He then went to Detroit where he joined the other Russians on the team and helped them win 3 Stanley Cups. Larionov was a massive loss to Vancouver, especially when we didn't have a true centre on the team to play with Bure.

This is true. With all the publicity she is getting I wouldn't be surprised if she gets audited next year...

Yeah I agree, scams do happen. My buddies have told me many stories. With a business account there is more monitoring at the bank level for this kind of stuff. You most likely would have an assigned business banking person to deal with at the branch which makes things easier to catch these sort of scams. Doing everything online saves alot of money and is very convenient but it does come with some form of risk. In life nothing is really free. You get what you pay for.

Rathbone is going to be a stud. His partner at Harvard Fox is already a Norris trophy candidate. I believe Rathbone will follow in the same footsteps. At the end of the day he may well become a more well rounded defenceman than Quinn Hughes. He should be on the untouchable list with Petey, Hughes, Demko, Podkolzin and Hoglander.

She was using a personal bank account to save money and doing everything online. If she had actually opened up a business account with Scotiabank and paid the regular fees this would have never happened as there are certain protections in place with an actual business account and you would most likely have a commercial banking contact at the branch to deal with who can fix the problem right away if there are any issues.

I never actually said Sakic was a bad drafter, I was saying that Benning's record of drafting over the last 7 years is much better than Sakic's. Rantanen was a great pick at 10, Newhook at 16 also a very good pick. Outside of the first round however there is nothing much to show so far for Sakic and the Avalanche over the past 7 years. Benning however has several later picks that are already in the lineup in Hoglander, Demko and now Rathbone. All look to be studs in the making. Benning dropped the ball on Virtanen and Juolevi. There is no dispute on that. No one is perfect. But he has made up for it with other picks and looks to have found some beauties outside of the first round. Sakic not so much. Rantanen is really his only slam dunk pick so far outside of the top 5 picks. MacKinnon was a gift to him. Sakic has done a far better job than Benning in terms of trades and free agency. I have already conceded that. That's why Benning is on the hot seat right now, because of what he has done in the free agency front and also with most trades. He has made a couple of very good trades, but has shown inconsistency in that department. Hopefully he fixes his shortcomings and has a great 2021 summer. We will see. At the end of the day I am sure every GM has help in picking the players being drafted. That's why every team has a scouting department.

It's a separate legal entity so although it has the same features as Scotiabank if something ever went wrong you'd be suing Tangerine not Scotiabank. That's why it's a separate legal entity so Scotiabank can protect itself if anything happens. Looks like what happened here is a Tangerine issue, not a Scotiabank issue. I've never heard of a chartered bank taking out money from someone's account without their permission. My buddies all work in the financial services industry so I know exactly how these things work. Tangerine used to be ING. Scotiabank purchased it so they could tap into the online market and get new clients by offering better rates and terms to people who only use online banking. But you are not dealing with Scotiabank so the protections that are offered are only covered by Tangerine. It's an online bank so if anything bad ever happened good luck trying to chase somebody down to fix the problem. That's exactly what happened here. This person had no branch to go to, nobody to complain to. That's the risk you take if you want to save some money and do everything online. There is no brick and mortar location you can run to for help.

It's a subsidiary. You are not actually dealing with Scotiabank. You could just open up an actual Scotiabank account and use online banking in that account, at least you have the protection of a chartered bank. As per Wikipedia: Although now wholly owned by Scotiabank, it remains a separate legal entity and thus retains its separate Institution Number 614, with all accounts being under a single transit number, 00152.[6]

Probably a good idea to stay away from banks named after an orange and simply deal with the larger chartered banks.

Brackett was named head of amateur scouting on August 4, 2015. So it wasn't right before the 2016 draft. "Widely considered a Benning overrule" is not actually factual information, it is based on sources and speculation. So if Brackett wasn't in charge of the 2014 or 2105 drafts as you say then he wasn't responsible for drafting Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser, who were and are considered steals at their draft position and both are a huge part of our core moving forward. Saying Brackett was totally in charge of the drafts from 2016-2019 and trying to minimize Benning's involvement is quite the play to try and make it like Sakic is a much better drafter than Benning. But at least you are now admitting that the Canucks picks from 2016-2019 are actually better than the picks from the Avalanche. That is a start. I wonder if Sakic has a head of amateur scouting? Wouldn't he be in charge of the drafts as well? Maybe Sakic also has no influence in Colorado's drafting. Something to consider.

I’m using 2014-2020 as a comparison because that is when Benning was hired. And Sakic was hired in 2013. Why would I use prior drafts when the comparison is Benning vs. Sakic? Also it doesn’t matter if those players from 2014 are still with the Canucks or not. The fact is Benning drafted them and that’s what matters when you are comparing drafting records. Rantanen was a great pick at 10. So was Boeser at 23 and Hoglander in the 2nd round. At the end of the day Benning has a much better overall record of drafting than Sakic and that is proven with facts.
