[Signing] Canucks sign Vasili Podkolzin
Elias Pettersson replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Apparently Benning can't do anything without AV being critical of him and the organization... Makes you wonder... -

[Rumour] Seth Jones to test FA
Elias Pettersson replied to KariyaSakicAnderson's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Juolevi could be that guy. If you switch Rathbone with Juolevi that could also work. At some point you need the kids to play. Rathbone is 22 years old. His defensive partner at Harvard is already in consideration for the Norris Trophy. Rathbone didn't look out of place playing with Fox. He could end up at that same level. The other option would be to trade Juolevi in a package to get a guy like Zadorov who would play the left side. You could play Zadorov with Savard. Lots of different options that Benning needs to explore. -

As long as it's a 1 year deal at $2 million or less I am fine with that. He can still be an effective 3rd pairing guy. -

I don't either... Edler can be re-signed for cheap and he can switch up with Juolevi. But I want the kids to play. -

Rathbone Savard. I agree about Hamonic that's why I think the Canucks should go hard for David Savard instead... -
[Rumour] Seth Jones to test FA

Seth Jones, Boone Jenner and Vasili Podkolzin would turn the Canucks into instant Cup contenders. I think that trade could work as long as Jones and Jenner agree to sign extensions as they will both be UFA's next summer. Beagle might end up on LTIR and Schmidt may refuse to go to Columbus, so the trade package may need to be tweaked. We could substitute Schmidt for Myers and Motte for Beagle. The other thing to consider is where we are picking in the draft. If we stay at 9 that deal works, if we were to actually win the lottery then I would take OJ out of the deal. -

The best news I've heard all year. This kid is going to be amazing. If you fell in love with Hoglander you will want to marry Podkolzin. The future looks bright. Thank you Jim Benning...- 447 replies

I would agree. It’s easier to find a winger than a centre. The Canucks will have to draft a centre unless they want to overpay in free agency. Beniers would be a dream if we end up top 2. If not I’m hoping McTavish is there at 9 or 10. Pearson Horvat Podkolzin would be a great shutdown line. If Miller plays centre we would need a winger for Petey and Brock and also a winger for Miller and Hoglander. I’m not sure Kole Lind is that guy. I think we need more speed on the wing. A player like Virtanen without the baggage would be ideal. Too bad he didn’t work out. Ideally he would have been the perfect winger for Miller and Hoglander.

Toffoli has 2 assists in the playoffs. He’s not exactly lighting it up when it counts. He’s one of the main reasons Toronto is on the verge of getting to the 2nd round. His scoring has completely dried up along with the rest of his team.

Vintage is a super computer. He's not actually human. You will never be able to scoop him/it...

Vasily Podkolzin | #92 | RW
Elias Pettersson replied to GoldenAlien's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Podkolzin is better than Hoglander. He was a potential top 3 pick in his draft year. Hoglander went in the 2nd round. Benning has already said he thinks he will be in the top 6 right out of the gate. His engine is just as high as Hoglander if not higher. He gonna be 215 pounds in the NHL. This kid is going to be a stud. Watching Hoglander play is great, but Podkolzin will be on a different level, able to do more with his skillset than Hoglander as he is a much bigger player. Hoglander was on pace for around 39 points as a rookie in a full NHL season. Podkolzin hitting 40+ points next year is a real possibility. He is not going to need a few years. He's already 20 years old and has been playing with men for 2 years. -
Hindsight is 20/20 Phil. Today the decision to sign Holtby looks bad. One year ago it looked fine. We needed a #1B in case Demko’s playoff success was a one time deal. It has actually worked out perfectly for Benning. He walked away from Marty 6x6, signed Demko 5x5 and can now buyout Holtby for $500,000 this summer. I would call that a win on all fronts.

We could always hire Igor Larionov to be an assistant coach. He worked well with Pavel Bure when he first came over...

[Discussion] Ron MacLean homophobic?
Elias Pettersson replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Although I don't really like MacLean and couldn't care less if he was fired that is soft like butter. They will need to try harder to get him off the air...
