Expansion draft: A golden opportunity for the Canucks
Elias Pettersson replied to Rudo's topic in Canucks Talk
Woo is going to be a player. He’s going to be 215 pounds when he’s in the NHL. He’s only 6’0” but he’s got good wheels, hits like a truck and has a decent offensive game as well. A little like Kevin Bieksa without the Superman punch. Rathbone and Woo could make for a good pairing in the NHL. Woo also is a right shot which we have very few of in the organization. -
Expansion draft: A golden opportunity for the Canucks

He has been injured his entire professional career. Injuries that would affect his ability to pivot. As Alf has already mentioned it may take up to 2 years to fully recover from his injuries. He didn’t have an issue with pivoting in Junior. If he did he wouldn’t have been a top 5 pick. -
Expansion draft: A golden opportunity for the Canucks

Great post. I think Tampa makes a deal with Seattle to take McDonaugh. Add some draft picks or prospects. If that happens they can just buy out Palat and their cap problems are solved. They are not going to trade Cernak or Foote. They will just trade futures for cap space and use their buyouts for 2021. In 2020 they used LTIR space to keep the core together, in 2021 they will use the expansion draft and buyouts to keep the core together. Smart moves all the way around that are totally legal. -

I don't think Tampa will protect McDonaugh over Cernak... -
I think Power will be a poor man's Hedman. He will be a #2 in the NHL. Reinhart can be a 30 goal scorer easy. If you can trade Horvat and a #10 pick for Reinhart and a #2 defenceman I think you do it. Benning could also be high on a guy like Johnson, or any other player available at #10, so like I said it depends on how high Benning is on Power and even Beniers, who could also be the #1 pick, especially if Buffalo trades Eichel.
-
Depends on the lottery draw. If Buffalo gets the first overall pick and we end up 10th, then I would consider it. Depends on how high Benning is on Power and/or Beniers. If the deal is Reinhart and Owen Power for Horvat and Kent Johnson, I'd probably do it. Then I would go hard for a 3C in free agency or via trade.

Loui would have to retire, and we'd have to buyout Holtby and Virtanen. Also, Beagle would have to be on LTIR and be replaced by a guy making the minimum for the 4C. Edler also would have to take a big pay cut to stay on another year. Lots of ifs, but Benning said everything is on the table, so he's gonna have to make some tough decisions.

Hall Pettersson Boeser Hoglander Miller Reinhart Pearson Horvat Podkolzin Horvat's line can play against the top opposition. Hall and Reinhart complete the top 9. Speed to burn. Just like what JB wants. Hall can return to his 40 goal form playing with Petey and Brock. Trading your first round pick for Reinhart and adding Hall in free agency would be two huge BOLD moves by Benning...

CDC Celebrity Dead Pool 2021 (win prizes)
Elias Pettersson replied to nuckin_futz's topic in White Noise
My record is 9 so I'll make sure my guys stop at 8 for both of them to keep my record in tact... -
Other than being born in BC what do Johnson and Virtanen have in common? Are you suggesting the Canucks should never draft another BC born player just because of Virtanen?

Buffalo doesn't need to give up a top young player to trade Skinner. They have over $32 million in cap space and nobody wants to play there. They can get even more cap space with an Eichel trade. If I was Buffalo I would try and get as much as possible for Eichel and I would trade Reinhardt for a first round pick as he will walk next summer. I wouldn't be opposed to trading our first round pick for Reinhart if it falls out of the top 10. That player we draft probably won't be in the lineup for at least 2 years and Reinhart can give us immediate scoring help as JB said he wanted. But the key would be you would need to lock up Reinhart to a long term deal at the time of the trade so he doesn't become a UFA and potentially walk. Either that or you just wait until next summer when you can sign him for free. If Benning could actually be given one more year of just letting the current contracts expire and leave the cap space open, we'd be much better off to make a move in 2022 for a top UFA and to fix our defence. But because of all the pressure he will probably have to make his moves this year.

I agree with all of this.

You can post whatever you want, I don't care. When did I attack you personally? And when did I say anyone that disagrees with me is not a fan? And how do you know you've shed more blood, sweat and beer cheering for the Canucks then me when you don't even know me? The only thing I will give you is you've probably shed alot more beer than me cheering on this team because I don't drink, so you have that one on me for sure. At the end of the day anyone can disagree with anything, but the same daily rants by some posters is quite nauseating. You are not one of those posters, you are actually one of the good posters and quite funny so not sure why you are attacking me personally.

McDavid playing more like Satan than Jesus. He better start praying or he'll be out in 4 straight. Too bad he couldn't carry over some of those 104 points from the regular season. You will never win a playoff series, maybe not even one playoff game, with only 2 players. I think McJesus demands a trade soon. He'll want out as he wants to win a Cup. His legacy will be tarnished forever without a Cup win. You can't call yourself one of the greats with no Cups.

Francesco is a billionaire. You don't become a billionaire by being weak and succumbing to fan pressure. The guy literally took the team away from Gaglardi, doing a backroom deal with McCaw behind Gaglardi's back and had to go to court to win the battle. We are talking about a tough cookie here. An Italian tough cookie. Francesco has been a fan and season ticket holder since he was a kid. He lived across the street from Pacific Coliseum and went to all the games. He is a bigger fan and wants to win a Cup more than any one of us. If he felt he needed to fire everyone he would. He's not going to listen to any of us and get pressured because some idiot flew a plane over the City with a "Fire Benning" banner on it. At the end of the say Francesco knows exactly what he is doing. He tried the retool on the fly when the Sedins were still around and it didn't work. So now he is rebuilding this team from scratch. Just like building a hirise you are going to have bumps in the road, cost overruns and delayed completions. Same is true of the hockey team. At the end of the day Francesco has built a great foundation and, just like a hirise, that is the most important part of the building. Without a great foundation the building will eventually fall over and get destroyed. Some fans may not like the timeline of how long this team has taken to get to this point, but Francesco doesn't care. It's his money, he can do what he wants. If you don't like it go cheer for the Kraken. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this forum, but some on here just come to troll every day to piss everyone else off. That is not a fan. And we know who those posters are. Francesco isn't without fault here, neither is Benning nor Green. They have all made mistakes. But Francesco is keeping everyone together for at least one more year for stability after the worst COVID outbreak of any sports team and is giving everyone another chance to fix the problem. Let's see what happens next year.
