  1. He's already indicated that he wants out of Columbus. He's not re-signing there. If they are forced to trade him they won't get the haul they are expecting. Unless he gets traded to the team he absolutely wants to play for I don't see him signing an extension with anyone. He will go UFA like Pietrangelo and get his big payday. Canucks will be clearing millions off the cap in 2022 and will be one of the few teams that will be able to afford him.
  2. Hoglander was drafted in the 2nd round. Same with Demko. Rathbone was a 4th round pick. In a redo those guys all go in the first round. Boeser was a late first round pick. In a redo he's a top 10 pick. Our farm system isn't loaded because most of our young talent has graduated to the big club. And our best prospect plays in Russia.
  3. Wow this thread is a complete dumpster fire. Let's just keep posting a bunch of tweets from a bunch of nobodies on Twitter who know absolutely nothing about the inner workings of the Canucks and take it all as factual information. If Aquilini is such a bad owner then find somebody else in the City who has $1 billion lying around and give them a call. See if they want to buy the team. Serious question. If you have over $1 billion invested in an asset would you not be at the very least SOMEWHAT involved in the day to day decisions of that money? You think a billionaire just gives his money to some idiot at the bank and says "hey, do whatever you want with it"? Unbelievable...
  4. Rathbone has a more well rounded game than Hughes. His shot, defensive awareness and 200' game is at a much higher level than Hughes. Hughes is more dynamic and flashy, but Rathbone is a better all around defenseman who won't need a defensive partner to shelter him.
  5. Has played in the KHL his entire pro career and is the same size as little Johnny. What makes people think he will do anything worthwhile in the NHL?
  6. Rathbone is already better than Juolevi. He will be a lot closer to Hughes than Juolevi in a couple of years. Remember Rathbone played with Adam Fox at Harvard and didn’t look out of place at all compared to Fox. Fox is now a Norris Trophy candidate. That tells you everything you need to know about the potential of Jack Rathbone.
  7. Reinhart is an RFA in the summer. He’ll want over $6 million and will probably only sign a one year deal to take him to UFA in 2022. Why trade major assets for him now when you can get him for free in a year? We’ll have some good cap space in 2022. And their will be many top end UFA’s available. I’d throw all my money at Seth Jones. That’s the player we need to take us to the next level. A prime 25 minute guy to partner Hughes.
  8. This is only temporary until Podkolzin arrives and Lind becomes more of a regular. Boeser, Podkolzin and Lind should be our 3 RW's in the top 9 with MacEwen and Lockwood competing for the 4th RW spot. Same on the left side. I can see Gadjovich taking a spot next year and Benning has re-signed Pearson, so with Hoglander and Motte that also takes up the 4 spots along with Highmore competing for a 4th line spot. At centre unless we make a trade I can definitely see us going with Petey, BO and Miller up the middle with Graovac or a UFA taking the 4th spot. Our lineup will be alot younger next year. It's time to play the kids and see what they got.
  9. Power and Hughes are left handed D. Don't think they are gonna fit with Quinn. Clarke is intriguing but he's not a slam dunk and maybe a few years away from having a big impact in the NHL.
  10. I'd be up to seeing this on a nightly basis at Rogers Arena. How many Dmen can do this to Tom Wilson?
  11. Gadjovich Pettersson Boeser Hoglander Miller Podkolzin Pearson Horvat Lind Motte Graovac MacEwen I wanna see Johah park his butt in front of the net with Boeser firing lasers at the net and Petey driving the play. Also, if someone wants to Matheson Petey they will need to answer to Jonah. Hoglander and Podkolzin would be the buzzsaws around Miller and Pearson Horvat Lind could match up against the top opposition line. Motte Graovac MacEwen would be high energy and MacEwen would be able to Nurse anyone that tries to touch our stars. Pretty much our entire forward group can be completed from within. As for the defense, Rathbone is going to be a star and Juolevi can take the next step. The one player we are missing is a stud Dman to play with Quinn. Hamonic can fill a temporary role, but long term we need someone in the 23-26 age bracket who can be with Quinn long term. Seth Jones is a UFA in 2022. I would go hard after him. He would be one of my top 3 picks to play with Quinn. Erik Cernak is another but I don't think Tampa lets him go.
  12. I'd rather just sign David Savard as a UFA and give up zero assets. Savard is bigger, better, stronger and probably will get the same contract as Tanev.
  13. My guys from last year abandoned me and must be helping you out. Are you paying them extra money?
  14. The 2017 draft is shaping up to be one of the best ever for the Canucks. Gadjovich would be icing on the cake if he pans out. Lots of talk of him being a 4th line grinder. I’m thinking he’s gonna be more than that. His game will translate well to the NHL and we could see him on Petey’s wing getting the dirty goals in front of the net and also protecting our star player.
  15. So McJesus got 100 points playing against only 6 other teams with hardly any travel in a weakened division. That’s nice. Wake me up when he gets 130 points and wins the scoring title at age 33. We all know the player that accomplished that.
  16. Seth Jones is a stud. He’d be one of my top 3 picks to partner with Hughes. He’s actually a UFA in 2022 so although you can get him for free next summer he will command a massive contract, probably similar to Pietrangelo. I’d go after Jenner alone as the cost won’t be as high and then go all in on Jones in 2022.
  17. I think he will be traded as well. He will go to the team who gives them the best deal I am sure. We could wait until the summer of 2022, but I'd like to see him in our lineup next year if possible. Not sure what Columbus would want but I don't think his trade value would be that high with only one year left on his contract.
  18. If McDavid had missed 30 games this year the Oilers would be looking at a top 3 pick...
  19. With Tortorella leaving I think Columbus will be back in rebuild mode. They threw away a stud in PLD for a soft lazy goal scorer in Laine, all because of Torts. I would go after Boone Jenner as our 3C for next year. He's on a decent contract for one more year and would be better than most UFA options.
  20. I don't think there has ever been a team in the NHL more reliant on one player than the current Oilers team. Even Gretzky, Lemieux and Orr had a cast of stars around them. Other than Draisaitl the Oilers have nothing. People say they have this new great GM who is going to lead them to the promised land. One injury to McJesus and the Oilers are a lottery team. At least the Canucks are competitive without Pettersson. Heck they even won some games without him. I don't think the Canucks are reliant solely on one player, which is a good thing.
