[Proposal] Buffalo Blockbuster
Elias Pettersson replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
That’s the whole point. He could be Hedman 2.0. You wouldn’t trade Hughes for Victor Hedman? -

Dahlin is not Hughes’s equal? Really? He’s a future Norris trophy winner. Take your Canuck blinders off. Dahlin is a superstar. He’s not Barry Pederson!!! -

You think Dahlin is that bad? I think his team sucks and he has no support. Dahlin is a superstar. And he’s actually younger than Hughes. -

I would have said no to this deal a year ago but with Rathbone in the pipeline I wouldn't have a problem switching Hughes for Dahlin. He's Swedish and would fit right in with the rest of the boys and he's a big body who is better defensively than Hughes. If that deal were on the table I'd definitely think about it. I mean Dahlin is a #1 overall pick and a great talent. It's not like we are trading Hughes for Pouliot. Hughes has disappointed me in terms of his defensive play. Coming out of college he seemed to be more physical. Without Tanev this year his defensive flaws are more apparent. Dahlin may not be as dynamic as Hughes but he wouldn't need to be sheltered defensively either. Tough call. -
He's still 27 on June 30, 2022. He doesn't turn 28 until August.

Green is totally fine playing a rookie in Hoglander in the top 6 but won’t play a 22 year old Rookie in the bottom pairing D. Benn really isn’t playing that well. He doesn’t have the skill or defensive IQ that Juolevi has. He’s a veteran who’s not going to make a lot of mistakes but won’t give you much either. There is no reason not to play Juolevi right now. His development is getting screwed over. He’s already missed two years because of injury. Now he is going to miss a 3rd year because Green is trying to save his job. The dumbest part about all of this is Juolevi is the one that can save Green’s job, not Benn. Man I just wish we had a real NHL coach for a change. These AHL coaches are driving me crazy.

First Podkolzin needs 5 years in the AHL. Now Rathbone will never make it to the NHL. I think the trolling meter is up to 100%...

Why would a 10th overall pick who’s already playing 16 minutes a night in the KHL as a 19 year old need to spend up to 5 years in the AHL learn the NA game? How many games did Hoglander and Petey play in the AHL? -
Leivo is more physical but Vesey is much better offensively. Vesey put up 16,17,17 goals in his first 3 years in the league. Leivo never even hit 10 until he got traded to Vancouver. Vesey had the skill set to put up 15-20 goals in the NHL which is exactly what we need on our 3rd line. If cap space permits next year a 3rd line of Vesey Lind Virtanen would work quite well.

Daniel Sedin never punched back. Boston won the Cup and got the last laugh.

I think Lind will be our 3C next year. Unless Aquilini agrees to a couple buyouts to free up cap space. Gadjovich may surprise in training camp. But for sure he will get called up and may play himself right into the starting lineup. -
4 years at $2.5 million would be a steal. Imagine if he’s in our top 4 getting paid under $3 million? A 27 year old fully matured 260 pound Tryamkin would be an opposing forward’s worst nightmare. I think this time around if he gets really angry he will put players in the hospital.

Speaking of Cassie Campbell did anyone catch that total burn job she gave on Bieksa? Bieksa was talking about the power play units back when he played and they put up on the monitor the two units where it showed Bieksa on the 2nd unit power play. After he finished talking Maclean went to Cassie and she said something to the effect “I’m still trying to figure out how Bieksa got on the 2nd unit power play”...

It’s up to Aquilini. Without a couple of buyouts we won’t really have the money to do anything other than to re-sign Petey, Hughes and Demko. The holes left by the players whose contracts are expiring will be filled by our prospects. If Aquilini agrees to buy out Eriksson and Holtby then that will free up $6 million to go after a free agent or two. Don’t see Virtanen being moved with that contract and only a 1st round pick would get rid of Loui completely.
