  1. DeBrincat was a PPG guy at 21. Plus, he is rarely injured, he has missed like 6 games in 6 years. Caulfield already needs shoulder surgery...
  2. Same contract as Suzuki with less production and plays the wing not centre, plus he's 5'8" with his skates on. This makes the Garland contract look really good. Garland has similar production and plays 50% less on the PP. Plus, Garland has been durable for his size and is rarely injured.
  3. Yes, with Pearson and Poolman on LTIR they are at $78.5 million with 19 players signed. So they have around $5 million in cap space to sign 4 guys. Silovs/Martin would be 800k. If they re-sign Bear then another 2.2. So they’d have $2 million left to sign 2 more Dmen to fill out the roster. If they actually want to upgrade the 3C position and also get a decent LHD then they will need to trade one of their wingers and/or not re-sign Bear. They could sign Schenn instead of Bear for alot less and trade Bear for a pick prior to the draft. They could trade Beau/Garland for a 3C. I doubt they simply re-sign Bear and then just fill out the roster with minimum wage players. Expect some trades to happen.
  4. Why don’t you think he would sign here? Seems like Vancouver would be the perfect fit for him to come and be our 2C and he fits right into our young core as well. What other team has the assets to trade for him? Winnipeg doesn’t want picks or prospects. So what other team could give them a 1C/2C locked up for 7 more years?
  5. I think this is it. If both are on LTIR which I suspect will happen, then we open up almost $6 million in cap space. Enough to sign a 3C and a LHD and maybe Luke Schenn too…
  6. If the Jets are not rebuilding and want players for players, then there probably isn’t a fit with Montreal for PLD. Josh Anderson, Christian Dvorak, Brendan Gallagher and Michael Matheson are the only players with term that would fit what Winnipeg wants. All those guys have NTC’s so they can all veto a trade. Montreal can only give Winnipeg picks or prospects, so if they don’t want that, then PLD should be available to other teams. To Vancouver: PLD Brenden Dillon To Winnipeg: JT Miller Conor Garland We sign PLD to an 8x8 contract to replace Miller. We also get a local boy who can play LHD and kill penalties in Dillon. We get bigger and tougher. Tocchet would like these new acquisitions. Winnipeg gets two experienced players who are on longer term contracts and won’t leave for awhile, so they don’t have to rebuild. We gain about $1 million in cap space to sign a 4th line penalty killer. We still need a 3C. Maybe we can trade Beauvillier straight up for a 3C with a similar contract.
  7. From what I understand Ferraro will be doing 25 home games and 10 road games. They will be hiring someone else to do the rest of the games. I believe he will still be employed with ESPN. Apparently, he will only be doing the road games that can be worked around his ESPN gig...
  8. That’s what I see as well. Garland is actually a nice play driver to have on the 3rd line. We just need to get him a true 3C to play with. I also think Boeser will bounce back. So my choice as well would be to trade Beau.
  9. Yeah, the only caveat is Anderson’s contract. But we would be getting our 3C, a guy that Tocchet loves, and we also get a true power forward to play with Miller. Anderson is also a Tocchet type of player. This type of deal is what I envision we do. Money out and money in to trade our extra wingers for positional players we need. If we could flip either Beau or Garland for a Dman as well that would pretty much cover all of our needs. And then sign Schenn as well.
  10. When Mikheyev is back Beau won’t even be in the top 6. Mikheyev will be back with Petey and PDG will play with Miller. Beau will be on the 3rd line with Garland. Honestly, there is no room for both Beau and Garland. One of them has to go.
  11. With a compliance buyout the owners still have to pay out the contracts like a regular buyout. The only difference is the money doesn’t count against the cap. So if we used a compliance buyout on OEL, Aquilini would still have to pay him out $20 million. He probably wouldn’t do that.
  12. I think Höglander and Rathbone would be available for trade. You could package them with one of the wingers with a big contract to get a 3C or a Dman.
  13. Neither Beau nor Garland are board guys. They are both soft wingers.
  14. Beau had 34 points in 2021. He had 20 points in 49 games before the trade. How exactly does that make him a legit top 6 forward? Because he had a few good weeks with Pettersson? Legit top 6 forward means he was playing in the top 6 for years, not weeks.
  15. He pumped up his numbers playing with Petey. What did he do when he was taken off that line? He’a not a good long term fit with Petey. Tocchet wants some sandpaper on that line. He even threw Joshua there for a bit. I’m assuming Mikheyev goes back on that line next season. We have lots os small soft wingers. Tocchet said he wants more grit and toughness and north south guys who can win board battles. That’s not Beauvillier.
  16. Allvin accepted him in the trade because we needed to take money back. So he agreed on Beauvillier instead of someone else. Doesn’t mean he boring he him here to be a part of the core. Beauvillier is another small wings that doesn’t kill penalties. We have plenty of those guys. Höglander can do the same job for millions less. Garland is also still here. Are you watching the playoffs this year? You think we are going to do anything in the playoffs with all of these small wingers? Didn’t Tocchet play PSG with Miller and Boeser? Why did he do that? Because PDG plays a north south game and wins board battles. You can win in the playoffs unless you win board battles. 80% of the game is plated within 3 feet of the boards.
  17. Waiting a year won’t make a difference. The cap will go up and so will contracts. Like you said our star players are now two years older. I don’t think we are going to make another OEL type trade, but we will be looking to upgrade the roster this summer. I don’t recall Allvin ever saying we are going to stand pat. Tocchet said he needed more grit and toughness. I highly doubt he took the job as coach mid season so he could come back again next year with the exact same team. Obviously conversations were made that indicated changes were going to happen. If not then why even bring Tocchet in? We could have just rolled with Boudreau and tried to get a top 3 pick this year.
  18. I think we will try and move money on for money out. If we move Beauvillier we would need to take money back. Same with Garland. If we can move one of those two for either a Dman or a 3C then we shouldn’t have enough cap space to add a 4th line winger and another Dman as long as Pearson and Poolman are on LTIR. If Allvin swings for the fences then 100% our 11OA pick would be on play.
  19. We’re not making the playoffs with that lineup. No way Tocchet is going to accept that as the opening day roster. That team is softer than a baby’s bottom. Changes will be made.
  20. Beau is a legit top 6 forward? Since when did that happen? He was literally a cap dump in order to facilitate a Horvat trade. He pumped his numbers up playing a few weeks with Petey. He had 40 points last year which was his best year ever. That doesn’t make him a legit top 6 forward. 40 points is a 3rd liner.
  21. Chicago’s phone will be ringing off the hook from teams wanting to dump contracts. You think they are actually going to give up a pick for Beauvillier? Same with most of those other teams. Beauviller was a cap dump in order to facilitate the Horvat trade. He pumped up his points playing with Petey. He didn’t do much once he was taken off the top line. As for a 3C, I am sure Tocchet wants someone who can actually win faceoffs and kill penalties, not a soft winger who hasn’t played centre since his junior days. As @mll already explained, cap space will be golden this summer. There will be lots of teams trying to dump contracts. The cost for doing that will go up as well. Anyone thinking we can trade any of our overpriced contracts including Beauvillier without a sweetener attached is not thinking clearly. Tocchet is on the record saying we need more grit and toughness, so not sure why some are thinking we are just going to roll with the same team next year and play Beauvillier as a 3C. That makes no sense. Changes will be made. Money has to be moved out in order for that to happen.
  22. Which team has $4.1 million in cap space that is giving us a 3rd round pick and wants to add another small winger to their team?
