  1. Yeah, we can't make that trade unless PLD commits to an 8-year extension. However, the worst-case scenario is that we flip him at the deadline for picks and prospects and then we free up $8 million in cap space for next summer. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world...
  2. I think you need to flip the picks. Winnipeg might actually go for it as PLD isn't going to hang around and Montreal really doesn't have a better offer. If we can get PLD to sign an 8x8 contract to replace Miller as our 2C I think we've hit the jackpot...
  3. Seems like you've been triggered. Maybe best to calm down a bit before your next post, unless you just want to post blanked out expletives all day long. Also, everyone is entitled to their opinion on here, including you. But you won't get much feedback or replies if you think other people's opinions are bleep...
  4. Demko shouldn't be playing more than 50 games. 30+ games as a backup plus practicing with the big club and Ian Clark would be fantastic for his development. If Demko is playing almost every game and Tocchet wants to ride him then of course we can easily send Silovs to Abby, it's only a 45 minute drive...
  5. Tristan Jarry is UFA but will want a big contract. We just need a 1B for Silovs for now. Adin Hill is a UFA. Martin Jones. Frederik Anderson, Cam Talbot. Those are guys we could go after to be a 1B for a couple of years...
  6. To Vancouver: PLD Logan Stanley 2023 18OA To Winnipeg: JT Miller Jack Rathbone 2023 11OA
  7. Correct. So, he can be with the Canucks from the 1st game. Martin clears waivers easily and is the starter in Abby...
  8. Danault, Grans and a 2024 2nd. We get our stud 3C for the next 4 years, get a good RHD Swedish prospect and recoup our 2nd round pick in 2024. I'm not high on Byfield or Clarke to be honest so they can keep them. Rather get a 3C that can help us now...
  9. Spencer Martin has been placed on waivers 4 times and never claimed. I doubt he gets claimed the 5th or 6th time either. You don't think practicing with the Canucks every day and being with Ian Clark in practices is better than playing more games down in Abby? Demko shouldn't be playing more than 50 games with his injury history. So Silovs should get 30 games next year. If I had the choice, I would rather he play 30 games in the NHL than 60 games in Abby. Also, Abby only plays 72 games so I doubt that Silovs would play 60 games down there. Maybe 50-55 max...
  10. Andrew Peeke, Brandon Carlo, Noah Hanifin, Aaron Ekblad, Ivan Provorov. There is not much out there that would be available. That's why we went after Hronek so hard. It's almost impossible to get a young under 26 top 4 Dman right now...
  11. He would be a cheap option on the 3rd pairing. Brings physicality. Not a great skater though. I'm 50/50 on him. Worth a shot if the price is reasonable and we don't have any other physical options for that 3rd pairing...
  12. All of those things are facts. This is true. So, if Demko's value is a 2nd round pick then he's probably not worth his contract and not worth keeping around long term. Either he is a stud goalie who we need to make a playoff run with, or he is a middle of the pack NHL starter who wouldn't be missed...
  13. 9OA + 11OA is higher value than 3OA. If you throw Hoglander into the deal then that should be enough to move up to 3OA. So, it depends on what Columbus draft board looks like.
  14. True, so 9OA + 11OA. What does that get you? 3OA? 3OA = 602.54 points 9OA = 372.16 11OA = 338.98 So, 9OA + 11OA is actually a higher value than 3OA. If Demko is valued as a top 10 pick, then that is a fair trade. Of course, who is available at 3OA versus 9OA and 11OA would also determine if the value is fair...
  15. If Demko gets injured again then his trade value would be zero. There is risk in keeping him around too.
  16. Demko was a starter for only one year. He then had to have surgery twice in the span of 6 months and missed almost half a season. I’m not saying Demko has to be traded tomorrow, but Silovs should definitely be our backup next season. And if Demko goes down again then Silovs will become our starter. Problem with Demko is that if he gets injured again then his trade value is zero. So there is risk in keeping him around too. Who is going to backup Silovs? A UFA. Isn’t that who backed up Demko when we let Markstrom walk?
  17. I don’t believe they could get a big enough insurance policy for Petey to play. I mean his next contract could be pushing $90 million.
  18. He didn’t learn it from Bedard. He practiced his shot while living with Bedard. Also, the shot itself is also only 50%. It’s getting open enough to take that shot that’s just as important. If Wood was actually slow he wouldn’t have any time to actually get open to take a shot.
  19. Why do goalies need to play 60+ games? Is there a reason you are using that as a cutoff? Shesterkin has never played 60 games in his NHL career and he won the Vezina last year. Vasilevskiy won his Vezina when he only played 53 games. Silovs can easily be a starting goalie for several teams next season. I highly doubt that Spencer Martin is going to beat him out of a job next year.
  20. It would be impossible for a 17 year old to be a PPG player in the NCAA if he was a terrible skater. Wood had a huge growth spurt and is just growing into his body, so his skating looks awkward. He isn’t slow though. He’s very similar to Tage Thompson who is even bigger than Wood. Wood has silky mitts and a wicked wrist shot, which you can’t teach. He learned his shot practicing with Connor Bedard. He can go to a power skating coach like BO to improve his skating. If he does that he would be unstoppable in the NHL.
  21. Cal Petersen won best goalie in the tournament. Arturs Silovs won best PLAYER in the tournament. He was the tournament MVP. Big difference….
  22. I’d be all over that. Would even give them Podkolzin to close the deal…
  23. We could certainly do that. We could also try and fill our holes with a Demko trade. I’m not saying 100% that Demko needs to be traded this year. However, there is no doubt in my mind that Silovs is ready to be a starter in the NHL right now. At minimum he is our backup next season. However, if a great offer comes in for Demko we should seriously look at it.
