  1. We could give them Beauvillier. Contracts are almost the same and Montreal frees up the cap space one year earlier as Dvorak has 2 years left. We could also throw in one of our 4th round picks...
  2. Tocchet loves Dvorak. I could see a trade happening with Montreal... Who better than the man who coached Christian Dvorak for four years to tell us what the Canadiens’ new centre is all about? Former Arizona Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet, whose contract with the team was not renewed this summer, is well-suited to describe what kind of player Dvorak has become since joining the NHL. So, after the Canadiens acquired him on Sept. 4, we asked him to detail the different aspects of the 25-year-old’s play. “He’s a really good 200-foot player, he plays his own end very well,” Tocchet said. “When he’s at his best, he scores goals around the net. If you watch a lot of his goals, it’s 15 feet out. He’s got that quick release, but he also gets a lot of rebounds and tip goals too. Those are important goals. Those are hard to find, those type of players that are willing to go into the paint, into the middle of the ice a lot.” This echoes what Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin said about Dvorak a few days after acquiring him. He described him as a responsible two-way centre, whose honest style of play might not “wow you,” but will see him commit to the finer details of the game.
  3. That line is the new Legion of Doom. We won't need a PK unit if the other team refuses to show up...
  4. How do you know this? You cannot predict the future. Wasn't Jake Virtanen a 6th overall pick? Draft position means nothing. Lafreniere was the #1 overall pick. Is Chicago trading the #1 overall pick for Lafreniere? The 11OA in 2023 has more value than Cody Glass. Glass was literally playing in the AHL in 2021. Last year was his first full year in the NHL and he had 35 points. Is he breaking out? Maybe. But I wouldn't trade the 11OA in a deep draft for him...
  5. Philly has a horrific team. They are worse than Arizona really. At least Arizona has lots of draft capital and cap space moving forward. Philly threw away their lottery win in 2017, traded Patrick for a Dman that may never play again, and Couturier may also never play again. They are toast for at least a decade. Buffalo has lots of promise but needed two first overall picks plus a fluke trade to get there. Let’s see what happens. We agree on Columbus. Ottawa is still a question mark. And stop talking like Hronek is in the hospital with a career ending injury. Dude was literally playing games with us but got shut down because we were no longer in a playoff race. He didn’t even need surgery. He’s probably already at 100%.
  6. We don’t have time to wait. JR is getting old. Petey wants to win. Our time is now. The Hronek trade was a huge sign that we are in win now mode. And Hronek IS a part of the core. As of today. He even played 4 games for us already. He was shut down cause we were out of the playoff race. He didn’t even need shoulder surgery. He isn’t walking around on crutches or with a cast on his shoulder.
  7. I still think our best deal this summer is with NY Rangers. They are desperate to win and have assets we can use. To Vancouver: 2023 23OA pick Alexis Lafreniere Braden Schneider Barclay Goodrow To NY Rangers: 2023 11OA pick Brock Boeser Ethan Bear Nils Hoglander Trade Beauvillier to Chicago, sign Barbashev, Gavrikov and Schenn and we are good to go... Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikheyev Lafreniere Miller Garland Barbashev Goodrow Podkolzin Joshua Aman Reaves PDG Hughes Schneider Gavrikov Hronek OEL Myers Hirose Schenn Demko Martin Pearson/Poolman LTIR $86.5 million baby...
  8. Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikheyev Barbashev Miller Boeser Barbashev is signing here once we trade Garland and Beau...
  9. Luckily, Benning wasn't around long enough to trade Silovs for Sven Baertschi or Linden Vey...
  10. On the one hand you are saying that we have no cap space, on the other hand you are saying we need to keep our draft capital and prospects. So how do you propose that we clear $20 million+ in bad contracts unless we add some picks or prospects to the trades? We aren't rebuilding which is why we added Hronek. We have our core in place. We have pieces that every other NHL team would die to have. Petey, Hughes and Demko are players that are wanted by every NHL team. We have them. That is not disputable. We just need to surround them with better complimentary players. That's why Miller is still aorund and why we got Hronek. And Kuzmenko was a gift from Allah. How many teams have added a 40-goal scorer for free without drafting that player?
  11. We have Petey, Kuzmenko, Miller, Hughes, Hronek and Demko. Six core pieces along with some younger players as well. Our issue is not the core, we already have it. Our issue is clearing enough cap space so that we can add some complimentary pieces to help us push for the playoffs and beyond. Our cap issues started under Benning, so it's been awhile. It's not easy to clear off $20 million+ in bad contracts in one offseason. Perhaps we can clear half of that this summer and the rest next summer. Philly doesn't have a core 6. They don't even have one core piece under the age of 25 other than maybe Carter Hart, who is hit and miss. They had the #2 overall pick in 2017 and picked the worst player out of all the players that were available. They literally passed on 3 franchise players. They are a mess and will need at least a decade or more to recover. Buffalo needed two 1st overall picks plus a fluke trade to get Tage Thompson in order to build their core. Even so, they have the same amount of core pieces that we do. They have 6 in Dahlin, Power, Thompson, Cozens, Tuch and Skinner. If you want to throw Samuelsson in there then they have 7, but Samuelsson has yet to prove that he can even play a full season. Our core 6 is just as strong as their core 6 to be honest with you as we actually have a goalie who can steal games. They don't even have a legit starting NHL goalie right now. I don't see how they are any further ahead than we are. Arizona is a joke and not even worth discussing. Ottawa has 7 core pieces. Tkachuk, Stützle, Batherson, DeBrincat, Norris, Chabot and Chychrun. Maybe Zub as well, not sure. Again, is there core any stronger than ours? They also don't even have a starting NHL goalie on their roster. Columbus has the most potential out of all of these teams to be honest. They have Leo Carlsson coming. Gaudreau, Laine, Johnson, Marchenko, Sillinger, Jiricek, Boqvist, Werenski. They also don't have an NHL goalie. Elvis doesn't do it for me. Columbus has also had 22 years to build their team and have only made the playoffs 6 times and won 2 rounds. You would think after 22 years they are close to building a really good team. Even after 22 years, they still need a top 3 pick in this draft to finally push them over the top. Does Columbus have better young players than us, especially after they draft Carlsson? Yes. But they had to be bad for a long time in order to get to where they are now. If we had started a rebuild in 2013 then we are probably better off then them right now...
  12. So basically Buffalo, Columbus, Arizona, Philly and Ottawa have all drafted in the top 10 at least 3 times in the last decade and they all still suck. So, what has drafting in the top 10 on a regular basis accomplished for them? Are they any better ahead than us?
  13. Pretty sure that Jim Rutherford already explained the plan to the fanbase. Did you miss his interview? You may not like what is going on, but we are not rebuilding. We are retooling on the fly. Getting Hronek was just the first step. There is alot more to come...
  14. Yes, for sure, and I can see that happening. But that is quite different than doing nothing...
  15. That's not going to happen. We will be quite active this summer I can guarantee you that. We didn't trade a 1st and a 2nd to get a 26-year-old Dman to try and make the playoffs this season so that we can line up at the dollar store.
  16. We can’t even sign Luke Schenn until we free up some cap space. So are you proposing we do nothing this summer?
  17. No, we would be signing more quality UFA’s who can help us win a cup. Or we can free up the cap space to make another major trade similar to the Hronek deal.
  18. I am glad you can predict the future. Saves me from having to watch the games for the next few years. Florida missed the playoffs 11 out of the last 16 years. They are now in the Stanley Cup finals. LA missed the playoffs 6 years in a row then won 2 cups over the next 5 years. Chicago missed the playoffs 9 out of 10 years. Made the playoffs again in 2009 and then won the cup the very next year. You don’t have to be some juggernaut for a decade before you become a cup contender.
  19. Goodrow isn't really good at faceoffs and plays more on the 4th line. 4 more years on that contract is way too long... How about we switch 1st round picks and we give them Garland and we get Goodrow and Schneider? So, 11OA and Garland for 23OA, Goodrow and Schneider...
  20. Pretty sure we've been cursed alot longer than when the Aquilini's bought the team. We lost the roulette wheel in 1970 for Gilbert Perreault...
  21. The requirement isn't 3 NHL seasons. It's 3 pro seasons... What is a Group 6 UFA? A player whose contract is expiring and meets all of the following conditions will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA): The player is 25 years or older (as of June 30th of the calendar year the contract is expiring). The player has completed 3 or more professional seasons - qualified by 11 or more professional games (for an 18/19 year old player), or 1 or more professional games (for a player aged 20 or older). This can include NHL, minor league, and European professional league seasons played while under an SPC. The player has played less than 80 NHL games, or 28 NHL games of 30 minutes or greater for a goaltender. Both Tryamkin and Kravtsov played 2 NHL seasons. Kravtsov also played in the AHL for half a year. So, you may be right if the AHL is included and the KHL is not...
  22. What if he puts up 50+ points in the KHL? Would he not have value at that point? Wasn't Kuzmenko wanted by every NHL team after a 53-point season in the KHL at 25 years old?
