  1. Demko IS an unproven backup behind Markstrom. What exactly has he proven in the NHL other than he can get concussed on multiple occasions by simply getting hit with a puck in the mask? Are there not veteran goalies out there who have a better track record than Demko? Can we not trade for one? In terms of Demko's trade value he still has potential, but I'm sure it can be increased if he can stay healthy and play some meaningful games. I agree the trade may not happen right away, it may happen in the summer. But at some point Markstrom needs to be signed long term, we need to maximize our trade value for Demko and we need to find a solid reliable backup for Marky until DiPietro is ready.
  2. Markstrom is at 27 GP with a 2.63 GAA and a .919 SV. Demko is at 12 GP with a 3.00 GAA and .906 SV. Marky is on pace for another 60 game season for 3 years in a row and a SV around .920. So he's proving himself to be a legit #1 and by yesterday's performance he is definitely worthy of a contract extension. Demko on the other hand has had 2 concussions in practice in 2 years, has only played 22 NHL games in his career. So he has proven nothing at this point. He hasn't even proven to be a quality backup at this point as he has been injured the last 2 years already. If Marky signs a long term deal then it's a no brainer you trade Demko and try to get as much as you can for him without losing him for nothing next summer. We can't be relying on a 23 year old goaltender who's had 2 concussions in 2 years to be our reliable backup. I do agree we need a strong backup to play 25+ games for us but at this point Demko hasn't even proven he can do that. We can go out and get a veteran to play behind Marky and wait until DiPietro is ready, which could be several more years. The development of DiPietro is not linked to Demko at all as we can replace Demko with a veteran backup for now. I'm sure there will be goaltenders available next summer in the free agency period. Demko is a trade chip at this point. He is not a reliable backup, he's not a starter, he's simply a young prospect who still needs to prove himself and also prove he can stay healthy for an entire season in the big leagues.
  3. For a 4th liner a big raise would be from 975k to $1.5 million...
  4. Motte is probably one of the best 4th liners in the entire NHL. He's getting a big raise next year I think...
  5. Imagine If they win the Cup this year...
  6. Chara will be retired in a year or two. Reaves is only 6’1” so Tryamkin can learn what Chara has learned which is to use his long reach to take away the opponent’s right hand punch. Wilson is a tough guy but if Tryamkin ever learned to box he could be a nasty piece of business. Tryamkin can hurt guys with legal hits, just like Wilson. He’s not big, he’s actually a giant. Just look at his head and his hands and his feet. He’s more like 7’0” than 6’7” in terms of his overall body. And he’s much heavier than Chara or Wilson.
  7. 5 points and a +2 in his last 5 games. Looks like he is coming around. Defence is the hardest position to play. Give him some time. He will get there. His hockey IQ is off the charts. That’s why Benning drafted him. Remember Benning was a high scoring defenceman as well, drafted 4th overall, so he knows a thing or two about playing defence. You take the injuries out of the equation and Juolevi is probably playing in the NHL right now. But what’s done is done. At least he is healthy now and contributing. Let’s see how he finishes the year.
  8. Jake is proving every game why Benning chose him at #6. At 23 he is just coming into his own. At 25 he will be a true power forward who will get 25 + goals. And he will have a game built for playoff hockey. I’d rather have that then watch Nylander skate around the perimeter in the playoffs not wanting to get hit.
  9. Chiarelli destroying Edmonton proved that Benning was the catalyst behind the Bruins success. He will do in Vancouver what he did in Boston.
  10. Yes Arizona went all in for a rental and they may not even finish ahead of the Canucks this year. Was a dumb trade that will look 10 times worse in the summer when Hall signs with another team...
  11. I disagree. DiPietro could take years to develop. Meanwhile Marky is a stud #1 goalie who needs to be signed long term. We need help up front. Demko is a great trade chip to get a top 6 forward. We can always find a backup for Marky. Demko at 23 and still a prospect is not the kind of backup you want. Demko could be Schneider 2.0 where he fetches us a great young forward. We need that more than we need a young backup goalie with potential.
  12. Marky needs to be signed long term. Demko needs to be packaged and traded for a top 6 forward to play with BO.
  13. This is Marky’s team as much as BO’s. Marky is 29 and is the veteran leader of this team along with Edler. Demko is a great young prospect but you just have to keep Marky and sign him long term. He is our starter and one of our leaders for years to come. He can lead us to the Stanley Cup finals.
  14. Schaller Beagle Motte is one of the best 4th lines in the NHL...
  15. Tyler Motte needs protection. I’m not talking about on the ice. From Seattle.
  16. They’re not even a playoff team anymore. They’re irrelevant...
  17. Where’s Hutton Wink, aka Gaudette Celly? We need him as our good luck charm in this game...
  18. Small problem with that Alfie is it’s going up in the rafters...
