  1. No no I ask for $13 million, $10 million I cannot afford to live in Vancouver...
  2. They said same thing about me. I was too small, only 170 pounds. Look at me now, I gain lots of weight and am superstar. Tyler will be star player in 3 years, I promise. He will be best right winger in league after Brock...
  3. Did you see his father play? He was a stud. Tyler is even better. People gain weight. I know aliens may have a hard time doing that, but it's a lot easier for someone from this planet to put on a few pounds...
  4. WTF? People want to trade TYLER MADDEN to dump Loui? Are you serious?? Madden is a stud, he may be better than Gaudette. He could be this year's Hobey Baker award winner. This is nuts...
  5. Pool Party is in Europe right now and may never come back. OJ is in the AHL and can be called up at any time to the big show. Big difference.
  6. What about the guy taken before him at #4? He’s kind of a flop too right? At least OJ has injury issues. What’s Pool Party’s excuse?
  7. Chatfield has been a minus player his whole pro career. Teves and Rafferty are 24 years old. Not even comparable to Juolevi who’s only 21.
  8. Juolevi was a +38 in 2015 with London. He was a +26 in 2016 with London. He was a +7 in 2018 with TPS. He's been a solid +/- player his whole junior career and one year in the pro league in Finland. These are also facts. So far he is a -21 in 35 games with Utica in the AHL. That's not a good stat but one could argue it is an outlier of his entire career due mainly to injury and playing in a different league. Also, it could have something to do with the team he is playing on and the system involved. In any event we will need further evidence to suggest that Juolevi is a bad +/- player. With his injury situation and adapting to the pro league in North America he needs to play more than 35 games to get an accurate read on things. Let's see where he is one year from now.
  9. This is probably true Alfie. If Loui stays on the roster the entire year and a guy like Schaller gets waived then most likely there is an agreement for Loui to retire in the summer once his bonus is paid. I can't see any other logical reason as to why they would keep Loui on the roster over any other player.
  10. The savings isn't really 1.9 million. If they send Loui to Utica then that takes just over 1 million off the cap, so waiving Schaller only saves less than 900k. Also, with all of our injuries it doesn't make sense to get rid of Schaller as Sutter and Ferland can get injured at any time, so we need NHL bodies to replace them. I'd hate to go into the playoffs trying to rely on Utica players to fill spots due to injury. We are in a good place right now, we have lots of depth. I don't see Benning screwing that up just to keep Loui on the roster.
  11. Schaller would be a good player to have in the playoffs. Not sure why Benning would simply trade him for a late pick. We don't have a cap issue with all the healthy bodies back. We just have a numbers problem which can be easily solved by sending Loui to Utica. I understand some people don't think that will happen, but with Gaudette up here full time now Benning doesn't have a choice. He is not going to weaken the lineup just to keep Loui in Vancouver.
  12. One of Schaller or Loui will need to get waived now that Gaudette is with the team permanently. I don't think they will waive Schaller as he would get picked up and is a good penalty killer and 4th liner to keep around. So I think it will be Loui once all the healthy bodies are back.
  13. The key to long term success is drafting. You can't just sign a bunch of UFA's every year to maximum contracts and expect to be a contender for many years. Eventually you will have cap issues and will have little to no depth. Detroit was the best example of this where their drafting was top notch for over a decade and they won several cups as a result and made the playoffs 25 years in a row. That looks to be Benning's plan for the most part. Sure we've signed some UFA's where we have overpaid but for the most part our core are the guys we drafted. Of course you eventually have to pay them if they turn out to be stars, so every team at some point will have cap issues. But the key is to draft well so you have good secondary players at cheap contracts that can offset the high end guys getting paid the big bucks so you have enough depth to compete in the playoffs. Looking at the Canucks we do have a few contracts that are higher than they should be for middle end depth players but we have several core players still on ELC's so it all balances out. The key for Benning is to make sure that once Petey and Hughes get paid those expensive contracts for the middle end guys are off the books and those players are replaced with players we drafted who will be on cheap contracts.
  14. Vancouver has a better record than both Toronto and Montreal. We are in a playoff battle and working to get some veterans back from injury. We need Markstrom more than Toronto and Montreal does as he's currently our starting goalie. Not sure why Benning would literally throw away the entire season to get an asset for our starting goalie. The fans would literally revolt against Benning. Our goal is to make the playoffs this year, not trade our top veteran players for picks and prospects. We've done that for 5 years. This year is the year we take the next step.
  15. Juolevi moved to Canada at age 17 and played junior for 2 years in the CHL. I highly doubt he is homesick at age 21 Alfie...
