[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames | Oct. 05, 2019

What about Gudbranson, Prust, etc? Every tough guy that comes here gets neutered. Green really isn’t that great of a coach. -

Well lots of Jake’s buddies and puck bunnies will be there tonight since they’re playing in Calgary. That’s why he always plays so good against them incase anyone was wondering. Pretty sad that’s the only time he decides to play hard. Always been a Jake supporter, but he needs to start putting his elite tools to work and actually start making a difference in games. -

Me too. I don’t know if there is enough offensive skill on the team now. Atleast one of them should have stayed up imo. I think we’ll see Baer soon though with our injury luck. I also think Boeser should play with Horvat. Brock’s too slow on the forecheck half the time and they don’t have the puck enough. Pettersson also tries to set Boeser up too much sometimes. Boeser plays his best with Horvat imo. If they still aren’t clicking after a few games would be nice to see Ferland-Pettersson-Miller Pearson-Horvat-Boeser Petey’s better when he’s shooting more and makes more sense to have our 2 elite snipers on different lines imo. -

I don’t like the lines Ferland-Pettersson-Miller Pearson-Horvat-Boeser Virtanen-Gaudette-Leivo Eriksson-Beagle-Sutter -

Did Green neuter Ferland already? He seemed to disappear after he got rocked by Nurse. Hopefully he’s not concussed again. -

Not enough skill on the team without Baer and Goldy.... -
Didn’t Green coach Baer in Jr too and was a big fan of his? I think part of it is they’re worried about Baers concussions and don’t want him to get another one and affect the rest of his life. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to cut one of our only skilled forwards and Horvats best friend.

After Boeser played his 6 games or whatever.
-
And Boeser will start in the AHL Pettersson will start in the AHL. I used to respect Stawns as a poster but seems like he’s off his rocker lately.
-
Yup, he could end up getting a ton of games in this season between the 2 leagues. IMO it’s a great development plan as they slowly bring him along in the KHL.
-
I think Goldy’s been at least as good as Leivo, Virtanen, Motte and Pearson so far. Goldobin needs a couple bounces to go his way to get his confidence back. He’s a totally different player when he’s confident, he looked Pettersson lite the first part of last season. He hit as many posts as anyone in the league last year too. He’s shown more hustle and defensive awareness this year. He should get a few games atleast. Hard to really bring it in pre season when the intensity is low and half the players on each team don’t care. Also nice to have an actual offensive talent to slot in incase of injuries. I do agree that his time is running out fast though. I feel like him and Virtanen are just immature mentally and need extra time before they finally mature and it clicks. But if it ever does they can both be special players.

Goldys looking decent. More hustle and defensive awareness then last year. -

He wasn’t great in the prospects camp last year and didn’t look anything special in pre season. He’ll be fine. -

Not really a fan of Leivo unless he’s on the 4th line. -

Yup on 624. Hopefully the Canuck game doesn’t black out or something dumb. -

Damn, I’m with Shaw. Had to miss games all week cause of work and now it’s not televised tonight. -
Trading Jake would be one of the dumbest things ever, unless we got an overpayment. He’ll be at least an elite third liner in his prime. He’s not going to be immature forever. Once he matures and gains his confidence he’ll be one of the most valuable players on the team imo.

Is the game going to be on NHL Rogers live or whatever? -
I think he plays this season then retires hopefully.

Speculation - Byfuglien contemplating retirement

Have a friend in Winnipeg who knows some of the players. Said there was some funny business going on with players wives and stuff all last season, which explains their poor season and all the drama between players, etc. Obviously just a rumour but kinda makes sense. -
I like Mac on that line, will also hopefully spark Virtanen. I think Green wants to see Jake drive play more and see if he carry that line.
-
Jakes game is all about confidence. You can’t snipe corners and destroy people without it, and that’s what his game is built on. He had lots of it when he first started playing pro. He destroyed guys in the AHL playoffs and then McDavid in the preseason. He stopped throwing those monster hits after the Farham fight. Scoring 2 beauties already and having Ferland, Miller, Benn, etc, join the team will benefit Jake a lot. He doesn’t have to worry about fighting every time he runs someone over anymore and can just play his game. I think this will be his breakout year.

Horvat usually never stands out at these type of things. Once the season starts and the intensity picks up we’ll see the real Horvat.
