I think he’s scared to injure his shoulder again and that’s why his physical game is gone. There’s been numerous times where he’s had guys lined up and slows down right before he hits them and gives them a little bump compared to where he would just run them through the boards before. Kind of sucks that we had Jake with his elite hitting ability and Brock with his elite shot, and both seem to be gone due to injuries atleast imo. Canucks luck.

Hughes needs his minutes limited. He’s playing mega scared out there. Getting out of the way of his own teammates passes so he doesn’t get hit. Looks like he’s also just worn out. His legs are gone, looks slow and can’t even get any separation from even their slowest players. I get he’s tired and a small guy but it’s kind of frustrating just watching him stand there or float after he gets hit or makes a mistake, doesn’t even put in an effort sometimes.

Glad they’re finally doing something with be a pro. I just bought NBA 2K20 for 6 bucks and it’s insane how much better their version is. Just the pre game intros and cut scenes during one game has way more to it than the whole be a pro mode In NHL.

Nice to see Jake finally skating. He could literally go end to end almost every time if he wanted with his speed and size. Haven’t seen him skate that hard with the puck and drive the net in a long time. Most players just can’t keep up when he’s flying like that. You can see his confidence is back, even with his teammates. It looked really awkward between him and the team the first few games against Minny. Stoked to see him against Vegas. He’s a legit game changer when he’s on, like we saw the other night.

Yup... his one timer is still mostly there, but it usually seems to take him multiple attempts to get a good one off. He did look much better this game though for sure. He had a top 5 wrister/snapper in the league imo. Remember that goal against LA when he went down the wing and just ripped it top corner in full stride from pretty far out. Even Virtanen who has a hell of a shot said he could never do that. He just can’t shoot like that anymore. Still a very good player, I just hope he’s not expecting to be paid like he’s still an elite goal scorer. He can’t carry the play with his lack of foot speed. I think that’s why he disappears some games cause he has to skate so hard to keep up with everyone, especially the first line.

Markstrom better not have one of those games.... -
His shot was already gone before that. He’s had too many injuries and surgeries on his wrist. Just look at how taped up it is when he’s on the bench. His shot is never going to be like it was in his rookie season and he just doesn’t have the speed or agility to do much else. Unless he wants to re-sign for around the same price I hope we trade him. He really doesn’t bring much without his shot and how slow he is, and this is coming from a huge Boeser fan. Injuries suck... I bet if Virtanen had the same ice time, line mates and pp opportunities he’d probably out score this version of Boeser. Just look how much more effective the Petey line looked when Boeser and Virt traded places.

Surprised no ones said Motte yet. Virtanen, Horvat and Motte are our fastest skaters. Quinn isn't quite as fast, but has the best skating ability and agility by far.

Hope Green mixes up the lines. We can’t create anything 5 on 5. Re-unite Horvat and Boeser and throw Jake on the top line and watch him finally wake up. We need more speed and energy, our forecheck has disappeared. I’d swap Eriksson for Gaudette even tho Loui’s been good defensively. Juolevi’s quick breakouts and transition game could also be very helpful. I’d try Pearson-Pettersson-Virtanen Miller-Horvat-Boeser Roussell-Gaudette-Sutter Motte-Beagle-MacEwan Hughes-Tanev Edler-Stecher Juolevi-Benn 2 big bodies with great shots who can open up space for Petey.
